I just think that if you were a true fan of this band, you would've been able to mature along with their music. As they experience more things in life, they begin to mature and they take a step back and look at their lives in a different perspective, not necessarily one that's filled with angst.

MCR owned when they were like this. Heavy and punk. NO-ONE called them emo when they released this, or even 3 Cheers. It was Black Parade and MTV that fucked em' over, all the emo name calling was thrown around and proper punk fans and even metalheads like me were embarrassed to listen to them. Gerrard said their new album is gonna be "punk" and "Will sound more like Bullets". Can't wait 4 old MCR to be back. Then all the wannabe BP lovers will fuck off and leave MCR reunited with the punks!

Dude, I'm a huge fan and I've been in love with them since this album was released but even I'll admit that they had emo elements in their music. But I didn't like them for that. I don't really like emo music at all. I fell for them because of their hard rock/punk sound. But their deep emotional lyrics were pretty nice as well so that added on to it.
