@americanhalfwit Global warming does not necessary make every part of the world Hotter. For example: the hotter temps form GM heats up the ice caps in the northern parts of the world. The melting of ice opens a section of cool air to run down to southern sections. Thus causing cooler springs/summers in other areas.
I know like 15-20 years ago here in winnipeg we had spring in early to mid April.. Now we be lucky to get anything close to spring by middle May to June. Varies. Give or take.

Maybe you should think about the consequences of deforestation, degradation of our soil, the abuse of our aquifers, and the growing population. The fact of the matter is people need food, water, and a place to live. I have been a vegetarian for several years now, since I was 16. I do not care that people eat meat. People have been eating meat for thousands of years and will continue to eat meat. However, everyone needs to start asking questions. Where does my meat come from? How much of it am I eating? How much is everyone else eating?
As a species, we waste so much. It's time to take a look at what we are doing to the planet, our home, and find solutions to our problems today.

@DoinThupidThings Just to clarify, I did realize that the cod are almost extinct on the East coast because of overfishing. I just wanted to demonstrate that humans do plenty to affect the environment and even wipe out species. The problem is that people all too often break things and realize it only after it's too late to fix. Someone who is as studied and well respected as David can affect much change towards improving the environment without contributing a penny himself, just by educating.

If trying one's best to change apathetic attitudes and denial about the effects of industrial pollution and waste on the environment, while generating lots of donations for that cause and making some money for himself is criminal, I would say being ultra-critical and negative about someone who is establishing a positive basis for cleaning up the environment is ten times more heinous.

if that would be the case wih David simply wanting to make money though his actvism, (which i don't believe) it's still choosng a lesser of two evils. it's obviously clear that what he does is beneficial to the future outcome of the envionment. his philantrophies, charity work and numerous projects have helped saved many natural areas and environments. so even if he would only want our money as some people might think, i'd gladly give it to him. he deserves it.

Given a choice...would Suzuki give up all his personal wealth, his financial empire---so that the world would be a better place. We all know the answer to that. He's just out to make a buck and a name for himself. He's old now and he wants to leave behind a legacy. He's about a half a notch above an evangilist who soaks your money out of you and then lives a great, prosperous life laughing. Congratulations Dave....you'll never get that nobel prize you've been wanting, but you did well moneywise.

@mikefastener That's not a solid criticism of Suzuki, because if he weren't personally successful from his career, he'd have to do something else, and the benefits of everything he's done would be lost to the world. He found a way to make a living from creating remarkable media content, and that's commendable. One of the big problems in the environmental movement is that it urges people to martyr themselves, and Suzuki has provided an alternative model. This is Paul Hawkins' Natural Capitalism.
