This ball out hooks the Virtual Gravity by a mile!!! Not only that, but this ball hits 10x harder as well. Virtual Gravity smells and hits like a peach!
@ADbowling2000 Well it rolls sooner... we did a side by side on the same lane.. similar layout, you get the idea. We found that the Mega Friction tended to make a move in the midlane for a longer arc, and the VG tended to have more length. As far as backend though THE VG hit a lot harder. The mega friction had more control while reading the lane. As far as overall hook, the VG was about 1 to 2 boards stronger overall. Man, we should have recorded that....
I dont agree with the idea that the ball isnt good for dry lanes. I bowled with it on a dry lane and cleaned house. On a dry lane that pocket is like a magnet for the ball.
After 80 games, the surface of this bal has no grip anymore! That's when you can forgot about your hook, and if you clean your bal, you will only take out the bals natural oil and not the lane oil. Don't buy this bal!
@Scotchtapeeater theres literally a sign on the opposite side of the ball saying WARNING: THIS BALL HOOKS. i personally find it to be a little tacky but wutever.....
you can use the cell pearl for almost any shot. it's all about finger position, how much lift you get on the ball, and how much loft you get on the ball. You should be able to throw three or four different hooks with the same ball and hit the pocket.
yeah, it makes for more of a skid flip movement rather than an arcing shape that occurs with more contact on the lane but in general to kill hook, say if you were going through the nose, you could loft it...
its not the bowling alley its just wat ur using, u might be using a very agressive piece, and the lanes u are bowling on use little oil even wen they are oilin the lanes. just a get a ball for lighter oil like a columbia scout reactice, ebonite tornado, hammer vibe or hammer razr, brunswick powergroove Dry'r reactive. these balls are perfect for lighter volumes of oil. also just because a ball says "beginner" doenst mean its for beginner just means its for low levels of oil. hope this helps.
then just buy a plastic ball without any weight blocks, or go to another bowling alley, no oil at all? That's not really a good bowling center, do you know how long the oil pattern is? So how long the oil goes till it's dry?
the virtual gravity is nothing compared to my ebonite the one, it shreds the lanes up like nothing else. It hooks more then the virtual gravity the virtual energy , hammers sting you name it , ebonite the one is a top noch piece of equipment period .
I hate AMF...and wont throw anything other then Storm. But my Virtual Gravity out hooks this thing. You say about it hooking sooo much, but i seen the one shot you threw 15-5...thats nothing crazy. I could hook a plastic more then that, it all depends on speed, revs, rotation and layout.
balls a pos i have 1, and if u dont keep it clean or bake it to get the oil out the balls gonna shit the bed in about 3months depending on how many leagues u bowl in or however many games uve thrown with it, but bake it and its good as new it just absorbs oil like no 2morrow, and i agree with igetamercedes amf sucks ass fur sure :D happy bowlin
I use this ball. I have had it about 4 months.. It is a decent ball to say the least. In my opinion it does 1000 times better on fresh oil (Or at least more of what u want it to do). You wont be disappointed...
That's great for you. But IN GENERAL, the Virtual energy is designed for medium oil lanes. Trust me, I know a lot about balls. Like I said before, maybe the lanes are dry where you bowl. Maybe you throw it slow with a lot of revs. It all depends.
This ball is the Hell! It only hooks and I just play it on oily lanes not on medium lanes. I ever had problems with my standard ball on oily lanes because it don't do anything. This ball is simply a dream
I bought this ball when it was released and it not only hooks a ton, it hits like a truck. I would suggest it to anyone who bowls in a lot of oily tournaments.
Holy shit. Awesome video! And awesome music! Thanks man! So tired of all the bowling vids with the heavy metal, lol. This ball definitely looks interesting. I may have to check one out.
Doing pretty well. If this ball were not labeled as an AMF ball I most definitely would mistake it as the Roto-Grip Cell.
Look at any video of the Cell here on Youtube. The reaction and hitting power are very similar. If you're researching to buy the Mega Friction I'd say look at those videos as well.
The similarities are not a bad thing at all. It's actually a good thing considering how the Cell is a fantastic ball.
just bought this ball, i pick it up tomorrow. Im fucking excited to use it! Im a huge power thrower, around the 400-500 rpm range goin at 19.5-20.5 mph so i need something that will hook on ice. i cant wait to use it!!
Plenty of hitting power, just like most high performance stuff today.
As for recovery, I'd say that this ball has a surprising amount of recovery from deep inside for what would be considered by most bowlers to be a "heavy oil" ball. If you miss, I'd miss away from your target -- not inside (because it will come back).

kace842 2 years ago
try not to loft it so much and it won't hook as much.
kace842 2 years ago
wrong. lofting kills hook. less contact for friction to react on the ball.
BestRiseAgainstFan 2 years ago
lofting stores the energy in the ball, common physics.
Ajogamer 2 years ago
are you agreeing or disagreeing with me?
BestRiseAgainstFan 2 years ago
lofting does make less contact, but it stores energy when it lands, but takes off at the dry parts if the lane. i'm agreeing and disagreeing.

Well, if you really want to improve your bowling, hop to another bowling alley, since that is just crap lol.

maybe try throwing it over the 4th arrow, more oil there so less hook?

a power groove ball, just two pads in it, perfect hooking ball for beginners

ididnt even know that amf made bowling balls but it looks crazy ive only seen one ball hook more then this and thats the virtual energy
bowlingboy1231 2 years ago
Are you kidding? The Virtual Energy is a medium hooking ball. Perhaps it hooks a lot on dry conditions, but it's certainly not a high hooking ball.
Curtie555 2 years ago
are u kidding me do u even own an energy well i do and it can hook gutter to gutter it has such a high hook potential

Nice video. Looks like AMF might have a bowling ball people might actually want to buy for a change. Thanks for posting.

Can you send me pictures of how the ball is drilled? I just bought this ball, but I don't know how to get it drilled.
reg8reg8 2 years ago
just ask for it to get drilled as aggressive as legally possible thats what i did! on a fresh pair of lanes im hooking wall to wall!

No offense, but AMFCode278's review of the AMF mega friction was good, but i liked how you zoomed in.

miss right as long as your not bowling a sport pattern

Would you say that this ball has a lot of power when hitting the pins?
Also how is the recovery if you miss a couple boards left or right?
Thanks, great video.
