This is really an amazing symphony. The adagietto is incredibly beautiful and the opening movement is unbelievably bracing. The horn solo at the beginning of this recording took me by surprise by how fast it set the tempo. However, I appreciate the brisk pace as this symphony is very long and, if played slowly, can be a fine example of too much of a good thing.
