While he is a good player, he lacks repertoire and clearly some imagination. It is a grave insult to say that he is one of the best in the world when we are blessed with such maestros as Zakir Hussain, Tari Khan and Anindo Chaterjee. He is also not playing traditionally, and Tabla is a traditional instrument of Hindustani classical... and what were those horrible things he put the drums on! So please don't say he is the best and listen to some real Ustad.

traditional Tabla is a STYLE, a technique and a respect that the great masters layed down for us. They, with thier immense genius found the best way to play Tabla. True, Tabla is a very verstile instrument but even Zakir Hussain, when playing for the western audiences, plays the Traditional Punjab repertoire. Playing Tabla as it was made is in effect a homage to the great masters who dedicated themselves to it, and Siar Hasmi has unsuccesfully tried to make his own repertiore.
