some people say that its better not to get the absolute best hardware, because they cant run some games. obviously they will if there 10x better than someones card. Why would using something better not play some games where as worse ones will? im only 14 but when i get a job and the money im going to build an amazing pc. (hopefully)
@crudnup your ll need an nvidia gtx 800 series and an intel 4th generation i7 processor. p.s. i'm not saying it will be along time before you get one just that tech moves quick.

I'd rather buy some i7 core computers and let them work in parallel over a network. Might be a bit more expensive, but there's a lot more you can do with some good computers than with a single uber-graphics card =)
@phoenix13nl sorry about being a dick it's just that when it comes to visual computing cpu's are not optimal for the job...all I have to say is read up on the technology
CPU's are very well suited for ray tracing (when multiple CPU's), and it seems like everyone here seems to forget, that this is ray traced.., not rasterized... (at which GPU's are indeed MUCH better) :)
With a GPU the only possible way I know for ray tracing is CUDA, but it's quite tricky.
I've seen some things about cards for ray-tracing, but I'm afraid it'll take a long time before we'll be using those :(

all you need is an 8800 gtx or better and it can do this at some resolution!

This just KILLS Intel's 7500 series ray tracing, and at about 1/20th the price

if i ever win the lottery, i'll buy one of these. i bet it could handle crysis pretty well. they're only $3000....

@limoguy333
it would run crysis worse than the ati 5870 would. They aren't made to be 'gaming' card. they are made for game developers.

but my old $45 NVidia gt 6800 can do that.

distinctly unimpressive.

it better be impressive if it costs over $4,200 dollars U.S.A.
