@HendrixcommaMartin You mean like the little I - bIII - bVI - V extension thing at the ends of the head? Kinda. I don't really consider those to be 'trane changes. It's so common and really just a quick venture to the key of the flat VI (like a chromatic mediant) more than really emphasizing the pattern of ii V's in 3rds. This is really just V - I of I, V - I of VI, V - I of I again. Those ii - V's descending in half-steps in a couple of places can give a similar effect too.
I first heard' east of the sun and west of the moon' in the sixties, and it was the name of a short story from the Book of Knowledge, if anyone still remembers that one, I had no idea it was a song, it is a pretty cool jazz tune I must say.
I enjoy Kenny Barron's solo playing. I like listening to solid, straight ahead bebop-inspired playing in a solo setting. So often this style of piano is with a group, and I think that neo-bop in a solo piano setting is under represented. Thanks for posting!
This tune is in album "PEOPLE TIME". It is live done that it was done with Cafe Montmartre of Copenhagen on 3?6 day in March, 1991. Thank you laburnum12
