@kimikuro89 Yes, I agree. I think this is an amazing robot, which has taken decades to design. I just wondered about dogs, because for example, if the woman was blind, she could have a guide dog, which could be walking in front of her, rather than next to her. I'd imagine different technological processes would be needed for the robot to avoid a dog, compaired to a human. Due to the difference in size, shape, colour and other things, detection would be different for dogs than for humans. :)

Presumably the next stage in that programming would be to tune the avoidance algorithm so it 'flows' more, rather than (a) detect incoming obstacle, (b) stop, (c) turn to one side, (d) take a couple of steps, (e) turn back to original direction of travel, (f) continue movement.
