  • I have finished this game twice. It is a masterpiece. Especially the journal entries ... I still remember the entry about the raid in the airfield where a friend of the protagonist took a rifle and went out of his tent and started shooting at the enemy airplanes and the chilling description of his death ... "he landed a few hits ... but so did they" .. pure awesomeness, pure masterpiece.

  • I also remember this game running better on my Amiga 1200 with the "turbo" expansion card or whatever it was called (more memory + GPU)

  • This game is awesome, I remember playing it alot back in the day. Great review, I never knew that there was other versions of this game aswell.

  • Maybe I just suck but I've always found Cinemaware games to be very hard.

  • @Gooberslot I would say, that Cinemaware games are not that easy. Wings is a very long game and it gets pretty hard in the end. Also, when your flying the patrol missions and you die in one of those. You quickly have to remove the disc from your floppy or your savegame will be overwrited and you have to start the game again from the begining. It came from the desert 1+2 are also not that easy, but it is one of the easier games. Rocket Ranger was impossible for me, I always failed at the takeoff.

  • @gerion79 Ah, Rocket Ranger. I liked that game on the NES but I too always failed at the takeoff on the Amiga version.

  • @gerion79 I just realized I commented on the wrong video. My comment was supposed to be for "It came from the Desert." I guess it still applies though since this is a Cinemaware game too.

  • Found myself here from SteveBenway's video. Hello you!

This is the game I played for months in the early 90s on Amiga, and just a few weeks ago with WinUAE. Oh dear the memories. And I got much further in the game now than back then :)

20 years ago I didn't understand the game as I do know, but still it was just brilliant. The journal (which helped me with my English), music, the atmosphere of the game.. all was mint!

Subscribed and checking out your other vids too, mate!

  • @pundewhee Thanks for subscribing. It's always cool to hear (or read ;) that people enjoy my videos and get nostalgic and sometimes share their memories.

  • Awesome review.

Still my most favourite game of all time.

The Amiga 500 was such a good games machine!

  • @kickassgaz

Your right, the Amiga 500 was awesome and I will always remember the music of the games. Thanks for the comment.

  • Excellent review! Subscribed.

  • @TheBlimp888 Thanks for the comment!

  • Really liked Wings all those years ago - played it quite recently and was surprised at how good it is. Not very cheap on ebay but worth every penny!

  • Super review and yeah great game. But i foud that its more playable on the emulator. More fluid.

Game was demanding for early amigas. Thumbs up and subscribed :)

  • @resistanceunion Thanks! I agree with you, in this time and date it is better to play Amiga games with an emulator because the original ones tend to get damaged with age (read/write errors). But as a collector I favour original games, can't help myself :-)

  • @gerion79 I have original Ps1 , PS2 and C64 with many games but i just like too see how they look in high res on emulator. Also many japan games i got patched to english thanks to emulators. like Front Mission 5.

And also with amiga years ago i go sometimes pissed with the disk swaping. And you are right the disk get damaged and now Im playing Indiana Johnes on 11 disks ! and good i have Auto swap. :)

  • @resistanceunion I can remember how annoying the disc swapping was. Indiana Jones: Fate of Atlantis (nice game though)... But even now there are games that have more than one CD (FF13 for XBox 360 for example) I'm afraid that's a trend (some years ago games started to have a lot of disks, then they changed to CD-format, same trend: like Wing Commander 4 with 6 CD's) Let's see where this'll go with Blu-ray...
