People should never 'believe' anything. It's sad that people immediately think the government lies (for good reasons, they do) because even the most evil person tells the truth occasionally. Simply dismissing them because they're "the government" shows a lack of skepticism and obvious bias. Read both sides with an open mind, then decide. Don't label one side before you do so. Company compared to country...which is more likely for an individual to get hurt in? The answer is obvious.

I once worked in a factory that made bullets and shells. At the plant entrance was proudly displayed a big sign that said: "Number of days since last accident: 196. Previous record number of days without an accident: 173". (This is true).
Now, did I feel safer going in knowing that there had not been an accident for 196 days, or would I have felt safer if the sign had said, say 2 days since last accident. This has no specific relevance to Montreal, but the principle is, I think relevant...

Actually it's not since the probability of an accident in a factory is much greater than a terrorist action harming a certain person. You are comparing a location where accidents are normally going to happen in an enclosed environment set with a set amount of people to an open environment set with millions of people with the average likelyhood of 1/millions whereas the factory is 1/few dozen.
