  • she's so good at snapping grooves home.

  • i think one of my favorite songs by ani is "jukebox"....i would love to see it performed live. she writes incredibly. i love the fact that she bares herself in her lyrics. they tend to draw you in...as if she is sharing part of her soul with you. there aren't many artists like that.....

  • thank you @1timeuser0904....

  • Listen to this song live. She is amazing

  • i want a cracker too

  • i still haven't seen her live but i've been listening to her music for well over a decade...she has always been one of my favorite singer/songwriters. she is just awesome.

  • @silentsymphony1981 I listened to her over a decade before I saw her in concert. And before the concert even started I started crying because I had pit tickets. And it was amazing. If you do ever see her you will have so much more respect for her. She rocks the crowd!!!!

  • she is my freking hero i love her. This song is me :)

  • she is my freking hero i love her. This song is me

  • She is great! And she spells her name the same way I do :-)

  • I LOVE HER~!

    UNIQUE

    IN YOUR FACE

    DON'T LIKE IT

    TURN THE OTHER WAY

  • While I suspect that Ms DiFranco, err OK MR DIFRANCO would bear little love for the likesof me (Ron Paul is a sissy and a moderate) I adore her music and I BUY her albums, I don't steal them.

  • its funny how easy it is to write about tragedy when your like has become one.

  • Ani is original, and one of the best artist that is out of there. Love her and her music, and the band.....I wish she would bring her ass too TEXAS..Killeen.

  • Love...

  • She is the best - I feel lucky to from NY and got to see her a lot since she is from Buffalo....she puts on the greatest shows and no 2 shows are the same - EVER!

  • This song is an obsession.

I would love to see her in concert, unfortunately i always miss her shows somehow :[

  • @taiyajarva she puts on one hell of a show. Got to see her in 02

  • Ive seen her in concert it was great!

  • Another of my top 5 Ani songs!!!

  • Willie Nelson was quoting Louis Armstrong.

  • I like the instrumental in this song, this is an interesting track.

  • I respect all who enjoy Ani.

  • Thanx Ani!!!! you totally rcok it woman. Nail it-utterlyxxxxxx

  • It remindes me of the apocalyptico...

  • Down for earth, agreeing music, Ani Difranco really reacheded the common peoples with a sound that it is smooth, I feel touching is her musics...

  • things generally dont fit into the little boxes that people imagine are there. I read a great quote a few year ago while doing community radio.. "it's all folk music.. I ain't never heard a horse sing a song"

  • @anicki72 that's a Willie Nelson quote. The only quote I know by him, but worth remembering.

  • Le riff de basse après le refrain est juste trop bon.

    Cette chanson est vraiment parfaite.

  • This is a song I will never tire of.

    Thanks Ani! You are amazing

  • Ani Difranco is amazing aswell as her music.

  • I love her voice, and the bassliney guitar notes in the background. And f%$k all the ignorant , tunnel-visioned dumbarses who are scrambling to label her or her music.

  • @SiberianHewolf ihear you

  • Is that her in the video??

  • @MrWelsh69 yea you can see the tattoo on her chest if you look close enough

  • ani difranco reminds me a lot of terri hendrix... great song

  • I like her singing style.

  • Nothing like pigeonholing an artist on the style of clothes they wear. What a bunch of tools.

  • *She labels herself as "folk" in jokes and in concerts, but truth is her music has a wide variety of sounds (and song topics!).

EITHER WAY, this woman is super talented and amazing with her lyrics. Watching her live is quite an experience! I absolutely adore Ani. <3

  • Superficial Garbage!!!

  • 'let's not ask what's next,

    or how, or why'

i am leaving in the morning

    so let's not be shy

  • EMO?! EMO?! HOW CAN U SAY ANI IS EMO?! ahuhuahuauahhuauha she could be grunge, rocker, post-hippie, riot grrrl, punk, whatever you want but NOT EMO!

  • @DavoSpice

Those who say she is EMO are the kids who only know EMO, they don't know this music and that is actually music..I feel sorry for these kids and their "lets go cut ourselves" attitude..lmao it does bother me that they would place her in the dashboard confessional shit genre..>.< ((HATE that band))

  • @DavoSpice lolol! most emo kids dont even know what emo means. I'll explain it for the children, EMO is short-hand for EMOTIONAL MUSIC... in other words, music with PASSION... Which is not unique to a genre, or a time period, or a style... So yeah I guess this is "emo"... But so was every good musician EVER... Without passion you have pop... Spears and Gaga and the like... fuck 'em. fuck a genre, fuck it all. If you like it, its good. if not, dont try to denounce it based on labels.

  • She's so smart in her lyrics.

  • I like it! /L

  • some of these comments are just plain dumb, now while I ad mine... "women should lear to cook a good caserole"

maybe a tad on the drama side, but i couldn't do better so I should just shut the fuck up and enjoy a fellow human beings abilities

  • I think she looks more 90's grunge than emo... That's the first thought that came to my mind.

  • @fudgecracker yeah dead on 90s grunge. its not emo at all, like.....way not emo haha

  • hey does anyone know how i can get just the music without ani singing????

  • BOMB

  • The term Emo actually originated with a comedian in the mid to late 80's named Emo Phillips. He was intentionally bizarre and often joked about suicide (his own). Hence the term "emo".

  • @tlisley jajajaja

    Emo is for emotional loco!!

  • Maybe the person wasn't labelling or saying "she IS emo", just she looks kind of in the video. As in, just a thought. Not meaning as a bad thing. I think people are too quick to go nuts.

  • love her!

  • Every time I listen to one of her songs, I fall in love with it(:

  • one of my favorites by ani :)

  • me too!

  • Pretty... O.O

  • shy shy shy, and not quite that angry or reckless

  • do we need labels this badly? i got one, "good music". i personally always kind of considered ani folk ..

isn't that what singing with an acoustic guitar about your life or feelings is?

  • fucking thank u! The god damned labels drive me nuts...MUSIC..SHIT! lol labels are my pet peeve...why do we need to push ani into some cage with a bunch of other people...shes pretty unique . We could make a new label... "ANI". "Yeah they are good they are ANI "

  • @spadehatesscrewtube yeah, most people do think of her as a folk singer but i think she gives a new definition to folk, because, (as she mentions in a movie of her touring RENDER) most folk music is really a kind of sing along thing, but when ani played live she asked people not to sing along because of the kind of personal... um, place i guess that it is in your own music. Yes but very true about your comment. I'd just thought i'd add this.

  • @spadehatesscrewtube

"folk music is not an acoustic guitar — that's not where the heart of it is. I use the word 'folk' in reference to punk music and rap music. It's an attitude, it's an awareness of one's heritage, and it's a community. It's subcorporate music that gives voice to different communities and their struggle against authority." -Ani DiFranco

  • ;-}

  • I love Ani :-) Her music is absolutely amazing. Her lyrics like no other.

  • the world has never been the same since this song

  • Wow people go insane just because of opinions.

  • I love this song it fucking rocks, but I can't help but laugh a little bit when I see this video. I think Ani looks kind of emo in the bathroom, hehehe. Don't flame me for it, haha.

  • Emo!?!? no she doesnt look "Emo" you fuckin scram...This video is straight 90's, my era, way before your term "emo"was coined...this is the west village mid 90's feel...

  • I think people just vomit out their random labels when their feeble minds can't work hard enough to form an opinion so they throw out a term that was engineered for them by the media.

  • true

  • @FeralChildBuff sounds like some hippy bullshit to me... :-p

  • @Baxxter101 Wow, that response coincided with my previous comment SO much I thought you were being sarcastic and I was like "heh, good one!" but then I realized you were serious and I was like "::sigh:: there's still people like this in the world, huh?" Congrats on helping free thinkers lose faith in humanity bud! You can't really think for yourself or speak from the heart but at least you're ace at making people "*facepalm*" on the internet, isn't that what existence is all about nowaday?

  • @FeralChildBuff *wink*wink* *nudge*nudge* correct!!!! I was (and still am) 100% serious. I hate things I do not understand, and I certainly do not see or appreciate any artistic, creative or innovative merits in things I do not like or understand. Nor do I try... Because I'm not even curious. TV shows me who I am supposed to be and what I am supposed to purchase and adore, and those things DAMN SURE aren't hippy bullshit!

    (hows that for a facepalm?)

  • @FeralChildBuff also, it is true, I have, on the surface, become just another "internet fucktard." A product of years of self imposed isolation, total anonymity, and an overly sarcastic sense of humor and criticism. My sole goal, 90% of the time, is to cause facepalms or lols. It is a deeply philosophical mode of living rooted in the otherwise almost unbearable realities of living in a world of such profoundly squandered human possibility and potential. It is a reaction to our shared doom.

  • @Baxxter101 Sorry bro, didn't mean to offend; Live and Let Live. Let's just chill out and listen to Ani. We're all the same children of mama earth and papa time. Don't be so hard on yourself, At the very least - you're giving people free entertainment, the same people who feed trolls could technically be doing something harmful to others or themselves instead of just farting around on the net. You're a martyr of sorts. Just think about in the grand scale of things... we're just dust in the wind.

  • @FeralChildBuff word. You haven't offended me in the slightest, nor am I hard on myself for any of this, just felt like being real for a moment to offer some clarification. It's just a game, it's all just play in the best sort of fun. We live in very interesting times and most of us are just observers, some cynical, some optimistic, some clueless, some a blissful mix of it all. But yes, in the grand scheme all we're all just dust in the wind. Our doom is our own, the universe will continue.

  • @FeralChildBuff shit I am rambling at this point, but you touched on a very real point my interwebs shenanigans aim to point out; YES, there are still people like that in the world. I seek to impersonate their mentality as a reminder... We're still very far from the unobtainable utopia we'd all love to live in. My actions are intended to serve as a reminder and a hint that we seem to be moving further from peace and love... We're practically sprinting away from compassion and understanding.

  • @Baxxter101 Very interesting thread. Most interesting I've come across. Baxxter you are quite articulate. Except I really like Lady gaga. She's actually quite interesting, I find. And for you to simply right her off as another Britney. Nope. Not even close. The world is changing and evolving. People aren't destroying themselves, they're getting smarter. Were living in the era of creation, which means were scripting are own tale.

  • @Stiletoseven lady gaga has nothing compared to ani

  • @FeralChildBuff Perfectly articulated.

  • @FeralChildBuff ehhhh?

  • @FeralChildBuff it's more just like a way to differentiate between one thing and another. They are descriptive terms to just help identify what kind of sounds people produce. It's the same thing with artwork. There's impressionism, realism, cubism, modernism...etc... It's not a bad thing to have labels, it's a bad thing to live by them and trust the labels over your own opinions. It's a shame that people get so aggravated over stupid stuff such as descriptive terms.

  • the term "emo" was invented in the 90s it just had a completely different meaning then instead of now...

  • @Bollemedrosiner

hey, i think this is no official video, but made by a fan. So ani isn't appearing in it

  • Ani is basically wonderful. Yes, his is her in the video too. This may be one of my favorite Ani songs...I love the message and the beat is great! Ani just kicks some serious ass all the time. :)

  • Awesome song. Too bad that the video on here was laced with so many egotistical air-bags ragging on the poor woman and her fans. I'm not even a "fan" but damn, go get a life eh?

  • This is just freakin' amazing. It doesn't get better than this, and I can't believe I've never head of her, except for a Joni Mitchell tribute.

    God, she's good.

  • welcome to our world!?! ani is amaaaazing...

  • Is that a Righteous Babe release? The actor seems a bit SHY to show her face in clear resolution...maybe a devoted Ani look-a-like? Anyway, it is a cool clip and typically great Ani song.

  • yes, this is a Righteous Babe release from 1995.

And yes, that is Ani in the video. I even remember seeing this video on MTV a couple of times waaay back in the day...back when good music could actually be seen on TV!

  • Ani...

    grazie!

    grazie grazie e grazie...

  • I met her drummer, Allison, yesterday, she was very nice and cool, Oh,and this song rules!

  • I met her about a month ago, shes great!

  • I've seen Ani over 100 times LIVE, She is, by far, the best singer/songwriter/performer of her age... without question... I miss Andy bad though, things have different since he left... The mistress of merch is still pushing the "t's" One night I asked her if she was the other "little girl" she wouldnt say... ;) Ani at Lupos in RI is still the mark...peace

  • I'm jealous that you've seen her so many times! I've seen her 5 times (twice in one week this year!). In Seattle last April, she was talking about how it was Heidi's last show of her last tour, and Ani played Little Plastic Castle because it was about her. So I'm assuming you may be right about the other "little girl". Just a guess. :)

  • ani is a glorious goddess of poetry and music.

  • ive seen her twice and she didnt play this song either time :(

  • Ah dude that sucks cause this is a damn good song! Thats awesome that you saw her though ^_^
