wait so people are complaining about them staying in key. and people are complaining that there not playing in key enough. wtf guys. look guy in middle has speed and techniques but sounds like a robot. 3rd guy does have a more clean and profesional tone but could use a little more techniques. 2nd guy aside from the fact that he was a statue he had a perfect right hand technique and holy crap the harmonics. he just needs scale work. they were all good and better then that troll
Man, so many assholes in here.... "Ohh they play very faast, no emotion at all blah blah blah". C'mon guys, it's not about what you feel when you hear it, it's what about they feel when they play it, and if these guys enjoy playing fast, then for fuck's sake let them play fast. You guys can play whatever slow/fast/doomy/technical/nonsense you want.
yeah, the guy in the middle with the trucker hat is really good other than the fact that he doesn't understand what playing in key means. Outside of that he's really good.
Jesus fucking christ, reading this thread I think you could increase the mean average IQ of the human race by shipping people who believe "not playing in key leaves room for being a good musician" to Mars.

I loved how the first bobbin his head like his playing is real melodic and smooth when he's sweeping the crap out out of the guitar. The two motions just didn't look right together, made me laugh.
sounds very whiny and irritating. with all the sweep picking there is no actual "music" that has any feeling or emotion. its like a contest to show off one's techniques but you'd think guys who had spent that long with an instrument would have learned to put some real solid emotion into it. one star for matching the correct notes with the correct chords but that's all it is.

@musiccalgary maybe so, but did you read the description? geez. this is how musical ideas are born anyway, by messing around. maybe you should try it, mr.rulebook.
I think the guy with the blue strat performed the best here. And for people who are complaining about shredders, I agree, sometimes, some jerks just play as fast as they can, but the middle guy didnt, he played fast in a melodic way, thats the beauty of shredding!
the guy with the blue strat is the only one that can play. if you don't like him your a fuckin retard. he played an arpeggio. don't like him. bla fuckin bla.
the guy with the blue guitar is fucking terrible!! listen to his second solo he totally ruins the whole vibe of the song with some stupid sweeping bullshit, he has no soul, that first guy gets a great sound out of that tele!

ibanez are my favorite because of the tome that works with distortion well but if im playing some thing sof and fast then i use a guitar a little more suited to that like a fender tele (neck is thinn= sweet ness)
kuhnchris19... do you think Mark Knopfler, David Gilmour, Richie Blackmore, Yngwie Malmsteen and Eric Clapton have made an epic mistake? you're a fucking IDIOT!!!

actually it is, because fenders are so shit that happens when you pick them up, your skill doesn't leave, but the joy of playing does, cause they all feel like a chunky piece of crap, at least every one ive ever played. as well as any decent guitarist ive ever questioned on the matter. id say malmsteen is the exception.
I dont like fenders myself, or how they play, but who am i to judge ?
Malmsteem is the exception because he is one of the most irritating and arrogant guitarrists on earth, and talentless compared with many.
A tutor i had, who is most definatley more accomplished than most musicians ownd a telecaster and a strat - he most definatley liked playing both, and most definatley is better at playing guitar than you. Thats just an example, let people choose what they want to play instead of you.
Wow, I'm not making anyone choose anything, I am stating my opinion on a brand of guitar. I think they suck and anyone I have seen who is good does not use one, with the exception of malmsteen. And I have my own ears, so nobody else's opinion will ever really matter. Being more accomplished than someone does not at all mean you're better than them. Some people's kids. I swear. The best guitarist, nobody's heard or seen them. We never will. Sucks, but its true.
if they were garbage you wouldn't see 50s models still kicking around. fenders are built like tanks, and in my opinion are much nicer than BC Rich, and Jackson (which is owned by Fender), and Ibanez guitars. All these metal guitars play fast, but lack a good tone. They're meant to just play metal over top of ridiculous amounts of distortion. And look at all of the greatest guitarists in history. Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Clapton, Eric Johnson, Billy Corgan & SRV just to name a few all played Fenders.
well, that's your opinion, which you are more than entitled to. but i still think they suck, and that's never going to change. they all feel like chunky pieces of crap. original sg's are THE best guitars ever made. in my opinion.
I do like Gibsons. I prefer the Les Paul over the SG because of the thicker sound, but I like some SG's too. I own a Les Paul Standard and a Telecaster Deluxe, so I can essentially get any range of sound. When I want to rock out, I pick up the Gibson with its burstbucker pros, and when I want crunch, or a bluesier tone i whip out the Tele (which feels way less chunky than a Gibson neck). I like that if I want the thick neck i can turn to my Gibson but if i want a quick neck I can use the Fender.
wrong metal have good tone but they usually just us for speed and trick gibson and fender are the best ever madebut i use an ibonez but tis old and has the bluesy tone to it so pretty much older guitars have cleaner tones because most guitars now are made for metal wich is kinda not cool but what ever
Malmsteen and Ritchie Blackmore are worth adding credit too, they are both fender heads :) and what a tone too, you don't nead tonns of disto (although it is cool) its all in the tone.
@SULLYvin Yngwie malmsteen plays neo metal on a fender are you going to bash him for being metal to. why do so many people hate something just because some one else is doing it. all arguments are based of personal preference. here ill prove you wrong in a second. hi i have a "ibanez rg" and i play pink floyd and the grateful dead and it sounds amazing. so there you said all now day guitars. i bought mine 4 months ago ^^ case and point
hmmmm lucas has 2 loose, he was stuck in a classic rock riff and couldent quite get the feel of the song and is to thought orientated, quirkore or whatever would be my winner
give the guy with the blue guitar some hair, and a better guitar, and you have a technical god. everyone else in this video is mediocre. he has some real talent.
the guy with the blue guitar thinks shredding like an asshole is a good solo.
I myself, can't do that shit, but I don't even want to, because it's not a solo anymore, it's a measure of how fast someone can play, which is bullshit if what he's playing is rubbish. FUCK Shredding
i can shred, but its so flippen overrated, az soon as you pik up a guitar people are like play something fast man play something fast... real music has variation and no just speed, there are a shit laod of elements involved in music not just shreding
Seriously, I ahte fucking playing around people who dont play guitar. All they ever think you can do is play fast, and honestly id rather just play slow shit just hold a note for 2 minutes and let it destroy my ears.
@thatdude2212 they walk away because the generation we live in doesnt like that music anymore. i love it though but even when i play fast they still walk away because its not justin beiber or usher pffft. why watch me play guitar if your guna ask for crap from nowadays. they say "omg play hey there Delila" i say fuck you ill show you a real song about love. #plays feels like the first time by foreigner#
agreed!! SO MUCH! imo, steve vai really isnt that great, hes talented, but he doesn't make good music, i think the guy on the right side did the best...
Ha, not that great? Dude, If Steve was there he would absolutely steal the show. The thing is, it's all about phrasing man, these guys are great, but they wouldn't compare.
no, he is an amazing guitarist, but I just think guitar music shouldn't just be fast crazy sweep-pickin'/tap solos as fast as you can play. You have to make it musical, not just fast fast fast crazy crazy crazy, idk man, you see what im sayin tho?
Yeah I absolutely understand man. The thing is, Steve has a ton of slow emotional songs, that aren't all flashy. The other thing that he does that is amazing, he'll throw melodic sweeping/tapping into a slow song. Just check out more of his songs man, I think you'll be more interested =)
@NobodysHero0 lol can it be slow and then extremely fast for a few seconds or does that ruin the song for you. these guitarist play guitar for themselves not us. if he wants to play fast then play fast. you soul people keep saying slow down. well holly shit do i have to sound like a noob who can only play 1 note per second but bend it really high into key so i can be called soulful ^^
It's all a matter of personal taste and mood at the time of listening but tonight I liked both guitarists at the sides of the stage. Totally love dualling guitars just wish it went on for longer.
if shawdowEcho had any fucking clue wat he was talking about he would realize the number of metal players who have a classical or jazz background or maybe if he listened to metal he would hear the classical influences? like common buddy metal isnt anything new its merely bach on steriods.
Any guitarist can play loud, but it takes a great guitarist to play softly.
Those who always play loud usually can't play and are trying to hide there noob skills with decibels.
But seriously ask yourself what makes a great guitarist? A guitarist that can get his point across. Doesn't matter if they can two hand tap, play sweeps, or play 400 notes per minute.
So to all the metal heads who only listen to metal, you will never be great. That's what my classical guitar teacher always said.
You won't get ANYWHERE as a guitarist without learning the scales, the chords, even the most BASIC chords is used by the most skilled guitarist around the world. Metal comes from rock, which comes from blues and jazz, which comes from classical, so your standpoint is absolute _shit_. I play guitar myself and i KNOW i have to learn the basics before playing metal. You cant make a proper solo without knowing the basics. Great guitarists know basics. Or are music prodigys, like hendrix.
I figured most of it out just by listening to music and coming up with my own sound. You learn however you want... I don't really care if you know every scale under the sun, and can play an A minor 7th diminished chord and I can't. It's about music. If it sounds good, I don't really care whether or not it's in conjuntion with the basics, and neither does most of the world.
amen to that. i totally agreee with u. i think the only way u can learn by your self, is if u have a love/passion for music, or guitar in this case, like i do.
well said, i learned the basics, and the blues scale ( that one i'd say is almost a must to "learn) and now i just jam and play with my friends, learning by listening to every tone while playing, i got a good idea what fits and what doesnt ^^
wow I've never heard Joe satriani played by three different guitarists great playing guys but come on (express yourselves)that is the only way for originality (eddie wasn't great because he played other guitaritsts ,modes, licks, feel, hope ya know what I mean: thanx

some people realize that slow harmonic songs are harder than fast shreding

give the guy with the blue guitar some hair, and a better guitar, and you have a technical god. everyone else in this video is mediocre. he has some real talent.
dimezakkrandy 2 years ago
why a better guitar it a fender strat ?
09joey09 2 years ago
the guy with the blue guitar thinks shredding like an asshole is a good solo.
I myself, can't do that shit, but I don't even want to, because it's not a solo anymore, it's a measure of how fast someone can play, which is bullshit if what he's playing is rubbish. FUCK Shredding

the people who hate on shred are the people who can't
jordanzio 2 years ago 3
No shit. Why would you practice playing something you don't like the sound of?
AntUK 2 years ago 2
i can shred, but its so flippen overrated, az soon as you pik up a guitar people are like play something fast man play something fast... real music has variation and no just speed, there are a shit laod of elements involved in music not just shreding
fgjegl1 2 years ago 3
Seriously, I ahte fucking playing around people who dont play guitar. All they ever think you can do is play fast, and honestly id rather just play slow shit just hold a note for 2 minutes and let it destroy my ears.
freaknbigpanda 2 years ago
jesus!
thank you!
people hear me play pink floyd stuff, or little wing, and walk away cause it's not fast as balls.
so lame.
thatdude2212 2 years ago
@thatdude2212 they walk away because the generation we live in doesnt like that music anymore. i love it though but even when i play fast they still walk away because its not justin beiber or usher pffft. why watch me play guitar if your guna ask for crap from nowadays. they say "omg play hey there Delila" i say fuck you ill show you a real song about love. #plays feels like the first time by foreigner#
Xioaxioa10 1 year ago
yeah, but its cool to know that you could do that. but people just dont understand phrasing. they only care about speed, which is a shame.
tenaciousjp 2 years ago
agreed!! SO MUCH! imo, steve vai really isnt that great, hes talented, but he doesn't make good music, i think the guy on the right side did the best...
NobodysHero0 2 years ago
Ha, not that great? Dude, If Steve was there he would absolutely steal the show. The thing is, it's all about phrasing man, these guys are great, but they wouldn't compare.
whitejem09 2 years ago
no, he is an amazing guitarist, but I just think guitar music shouldn't just be fast crazy sweep-pickin'/tap solos as fast as you can play. You have to make it musical, not just fast fast fast crazy crazy crazy, idk man, you see what im sayin tho?
NobodysHero0 2 years ago
Yeah I absolutely understand man. The thing is, Steve has a ton of slow emotional songs, that aren't all flashy. The other thing that he does that is amazing, he'll throw melodic sweeping/tapping into a slow song. Just check out more of his songs man, I think you'll be more interested =)
whitejem09 2 years ago
I just did that, I gained a lot of respect for him and i see what you're saying
NobodysHero0 2 years ago
Awesome dude, I'm glad. You should check out the song "touching tongues" by him, its one of my favorites
whitejem09 2 years ago
@NobodysHero0 lol can it be slow and then extremely fast for a few seconds or does that ruin the song for you. these guitarist play guitar for themselves not us. if he wants to play fast then play fast. you soul people keep saying slow down. well holly shit do i have to sound like a noob who can only play 1 note per second but bend it really high into key so i can be called soulful ^^
Xioaxioa10 1 year ago
the guy with the blue strat rockss
you dont know anything ,you think looks easy
but try to play it
Senthel99 2 years ago
I dont wanna try playing that shit, it's not music, he's just hitting notes as fast as he can in whatever key he's playing. Homos...
danslatente 2 years ago
Dude, his playing is fine, it just doesnt fit the backing track.

if shawdowEcho had any fucking clue wat he was talking about he would realize the number of metal players who have a classical or jazz background or maybe if he listened to metal he would hear the classical influences? like common buddy metal isnt anything new its merely bach on steriods.

THats neo classical metal - not the same thing

Any guitarist can play loud, but it takes a great guitarist to play softly.
Those who always play loud usually can't play and are trying to hide there noob skills with decibels.
But seriously ask yourself what makes a great guitarist? A guitarist that can get his point across. Doesn't matter if they can two hand tap, play sweeps, or play 400 notes per minute.
So to all the metal heads who only listen to metal, you will never be great. That's what my classical guitar teacher always said.
themaxxray 3 years ago
Great according to who?
Great according to metalheads, yes. Great according to stoners, no. The Beatles? Great to you, but I can't stand them.
So fuck your classical guitar teacher. Metal is its own form of music. Metalheads can be great among metalheads. Stay the fuck out of it.

You sure rolled him.

Kaoskadosk 3 years ago 6
I figured most of it out just by listening to music and coming up with my own sound. You learn however you want... I don't really care if you know every scale under the sun, and can play an A minor 7th diminished chord and I can't. It's about music. If it sounds good, I don't really care whether or not it's in conjuntion with the basics, and neither does most of the world.
ShadowEcho 3 years ago
amen to that. i totally agreee with u. i think the only way u can learn by your self, is if u have a love/passion for music, or guitar in this case, like i do.
guitarjoe209 3 years ago
well said, i learned the basics, and the blues scale ( that one i'd say is almost a must to "learn) and now i just jam and play with my friends, learning by listening to every tone while playing, i got a good idea what fits and what doesnt ^^

their guitars are making sex together
Mangledcorpse 3 years ago
Cool. It's great to see something like this. Giving guitarists a chance to just play without being judged. Should be more stuff like this.
Not all music is metal. Get used to it. Stop asking. You are just reinforcing the pig headed metal head stereotype. That's coming from a metal head.
