I did get an attorney, we fought the bank, then found out it was paypal all the way. The attorney didn't want to work for free to sue paypal, so it is what it is. It is not right, but sometimes you just gotta say "maybe karma will get them in the end". I guess..

To all who have responded. Sorry, I have not logged into my youtube in a while. Basically got absolutely no where with this. The AG and all else did not follow up. When I sent "evidence" it was literally ignored and I received numurous letters from agencies telling me to go to the other agency and wound up being a big circle. Paypal closed 2 of my accounts one with $7500 and one with $10k saying there were suspicious transactions and I had to wait 180 days. Only action I was allowed to do on those accounts during the block was upload funds to my account. This is the least secure internet payment company. Their motto says it all: "most used payment service." Ye most used but not best, if you want a good PSP (payment service provider) use Moneybookers. I have been with them now for a year and never had problems.

I sold an Iopd in dec 2010 for 69.00. Paypal and ebay took their share.....the buyer posted that I was a great seller , the product was in perfect condition and worked"perfectly.....I sold it as is.

4 months later he claims it caught on fire...charged me back and 3 months later I got the same letter saying that I lost the dispute,

theres a form at the post office for mail fraud you can fill out to have a sheriff serve to the scam buyers out there. if the buyer or paypal doesn't want to go to court, which they will lose, they will be more than happy to cooperate with you and send your money back :) spread the word

I've had issues to, I ordered a new computer motherboard off newegg.ca or newegg.com is the USA version, and the product did not work at all, I sent it back to company as an RMA, newegg's RMA dept lied and said the pins were bent on it and that invalidates their warranty, there wasn't a thing wrong with it physically other than memory did not work in it, I filed a paypal claim and they told me it wasn't there problem, they would not refund money and to deal with them instead.

The AG is the best option.

I am in the process of suing ebay and paypal and I will also file a complaint with the Attorney General.

The AG does not generally act on individual complaints but when the number of complaints reaches a certain number then they do take action as that number is measured "Per Capita" so 5 complaints is equal to 5000 people getting burned (or whatever the "per capita" factor might be) So enough complaints and the AG will come down on the crooks.

I had a very similar situation involving an alleged (by paypal) chargeback from a seller on a sale dating back to 2004. Without providing me any proof of this alleged chargeback and some 6-1/2 years later, paypal froze my account last week. I was in the process of filing a bankruptcy so I was able to add this alleged debt to that bkrptcy. Once I provided the bkrptcy file number and attorney's name and phone number they immediately unfroze my account.

Last - PayPal is a payment aggregator, not a merchant bank subject to VISA/MC guidelines and can basically do just what they want, as you are painfully aware.

Paypal is NOT your friend.

Contd - also did you contact your customer first and verify that they were legit? And, since then, have you contacted law enforcement and a collection agency to go after the customer that charged back? I'm assuming they still have the merchandise, right? 1. You open a Paypal account to accept payments on eBay or your website.

2. Everything goes fine for a while

3. Paypal suddenly freezes your account and demands a ridiculous laundry list of documents they know you don't have.

I just got robbed by Paypal today! This DEADBEAT loser (ebay name stkwireless) bought not one but TWO 32" flatscreen televisions from me. AFTER I shipped them out he emails me saying, "I ordered the wrong model...sorry about that! I'm just going to refuse the delivery." I bet paypal takes advantage of its own leniecy on scammers. There would be no free market reason to be lenient on scammers which ruin the service and drive away customers, but if paypal were abusing that by running some of the scams and pocketing the proceeds, they'd have financial incentive to be as lenient as they are being. It may be that this $6,000 transaction was a part of their activities.

Story of my life. I'm also in collections for a chargeback that was decided in favor of the buyer of an item I sold on eBay. PP said the ruling came from the buyer's card issuer. For $450, it doesn't seem worth it to subpeona documents or go through a tiresome and costly legal proceeding. I'm just choosing to ignore the debt collectors, as I have proof that the item was received and that the claim & subsequent chargeback was b.s. Whoa, wakeup call. I understood Paypal were tight on their requirements and I can understand the user agreement, however, this is a case of bad luck and where you have done everything you can correctly then the bad luck should be theirs.

With your video, it would be truly excellent to have the letters synced up to the commentry, I had to stop a lot of times to read the letters, took 2-3 times as long to watch.

My dad and I both sell and buy using paypal, he's had tone to issues, even with buying. He bought a coin which turned out to be fraudulent, PP told him to send the item back to the owner..and only refunded him $100 instead of $500..

Just recently a buyer (who's item was shipped out 3 months ago) filed a chargeback for $220, I'm a student, so thats a lot to me. I sent them copies of postage dockets, hopefully i'll get my money back :(

I have experienced a similar situation and have contacted an Attorney here in Illinois. In my case I sold an item directly to a customer for $2,050. A couple of months after reciept of the item, they contacted Paypal and said they weren't happy with the transaction. Paypal denied this initial claim because the Buyer had waited more than 45days after receipt to file a Dispute. 1 month later they filed a Chargeback, and now I'm fighting this.

Out of all the info you gave I missed what you sold to your customer. Was in a tangible good or was it a service? Also, I can't understand why someone would take paypal for a $6000 transaction because of the fees. Why not take a certified check or wire transfer? The fees are little or nothing for that. Why sue the bank if you still have the money? Why get a lawyer? If your facts are straight and you did nothing wrong then all you have to do is present your case, the judge has to follow the law.
