  • "turn left here"

  • really great landing

  • I done a landing in the cockpit on the 747-400 at Narita. RJAA

  • That was a real greaser. I bet the on board computer and ILS did it.

  • @RTFishall Thanks. It was a manual landing.

  • If there ever was a 'textbook landing' that my friends is one. Hats off to the pilots.

  • @vfrl7r Thanks

  • Tripod.... seriously.

  • airport diagram!!!!!

  • @miavec what good is the airport diagram if you don't know where you are?

  • 500 meters or feet? and is it from the runway or above ground level?

  • @MrAllrounder77 The computerized '500' voice is based from the ground below and it's in feet

  • so when do you usually deactivate the auto pilot for landing? when you intercept the glideslope or wat?

  • Fuck me that was smooth. NICE!

  • Awesome video, keep them coming, great quality, which airport?

  • what a beatuiful landing!!

    5*!

  • Great landing! The camera didn't even jerk about the landing was so smooth!!

    Thanks so much for uploading.

    5/5

  • B744 is such a beautiful plane

  • wow greased it!

  • Singapore airlines planning to retire the 747-400 fleet?

Other than Changi, which airport is your favorite?

How often does the first officer take off or land the aircraft rather than the captain?

  • Thank you so much for the insight. There aren't many 747 cockpit videos of the airline which you are in. Are you currently flying the 777? There aren't many 747's left in Singapore

  • That was a very good landing....nice job Captain!

  • Great! where i fly we don't, hate that!

    nice landing!

  • when you fly, after landing do you also taxi the plane to the ramp???

  • Yes. Usually.

  • LOL the taxi off the runway reminded me of my drivers ed drive times

  • Northwest airlines?

  • Singapore Airlines

  • Sick vid man.

  • Nice job16R-NRT, going there tomorrow.

  • How did you take this movie?

Are you a person who concerned of the airline?

  • probably a relief officer, engineer or someone affiliated with the airline. They seem to know where to taxi so i would assume so : )

  • Relief pilot was holding the camera for me as I was busy flying the plane.

  • What airline is it?

  • Singapore Airline

  • did they encountered difficulty in landing this giant on a short runway 34R?

  • Is this the 16R runway?

  • yes. 16R

  • Anyone know what airline this is?

  • Singapore Airlines

  • Thanks, nice landing.

  • how did u went inside the cockpit and managed to stay h=there?

  • When I was 17 I took some flying lessons. Then I took a few tests and I got a flying license. And then I got a job flying for an airline. The airline gave me a a uniform and shiny wings to wear on my shirt.

That's how I got into the cockpit.

  • i thought u were a passenger...

  • lol

  • ahah awesome! what Airline is this?

  • Singapore Airline

  • is it ever scary to land and also do 747-800 have auto land??? I want to be a pilot when i grow up.

  • of course it will!

  • ya u might crash while landing

  • 747-800 can autoland yes. You cant see the LOC and APP button, but those are used for it. (On an ILS Runway)

  • 747-800's don't fly yet. They are still in proto-type form. The first flyable model has not been created yet however, this may be the 747-400.

  • This IS a -400. Just look at the title.

  • Yeah, sorry, forgot about that. Just wanted to say that this is NOT -800 and the 747-800 is not even in service yet.

  • What do you mean autoland?? It can land it self??

  • Yes. Almost all modern jets have the capability to land itself.

  • yes , you can say also, CAT3 landing, autoland...

  • I think its called a ILS landing. They get the ILS frequency of the runway and enter it into their nav radio which basically tells the plane to do a certain glide slop. The pilot then deactivates the autopilot and they fly the last few hundred feet or so to touchdown.

  • nice Landing!!!!!!

  • Couldn't have answered that any better.

    Thanks

  • I have always wondered, are the callouts of altitude from the landing gear or the fuselage?

  • gear I'm pretty sure

  • The reference altitude for the callouts during approach is the altitude of the main landing gears AGL (above ground level).

But to clarify potential misunderstandings, the callouts are generated by the GPWS (Ground Proximity Warning System) which is always active. When the gear is retracted the GPWS creates audible warnings whenever the aircraft approaches the ground while not configured for a safe landing.

The altitude above ground is measured by the radio altmimeters from 0 to 2500ft.

  • I've read what you posted and watched the video again and I know what you're talking about. The sound which is like hitting speed bumps is actually the nose wheel riding over the center line lights of the runway (white) and taxiway (green).

  • I don't know what noise you're talking about before take off but I might be able to explain the sound during landing. The higher pitch whining sound at touchdown is the speedbrakes/spoilers lever moving to UP position. The low pitch growling noise is the reverse thrust from the engines.

  • Great vid man, thanks for posting.

  • the first officer helps the captain with the thrust to make sure that the landing is smooth.

  • I'll try to be nice.

From this comment it'll be safe to assume you are not an airline pilot.

The First Officer (in this case, me) had his hands on the control column and the thrust levers. I was flying the plane. I did the landing (ie. I moved the ailerons, elevators, rudders & stabilizer trim) and I controlled the thrust.

  • well i guess teamwork helps

  • and?

  • ???

  • ...a football is round. An elephant has four legs.

What's your point about the teamwork man?

Next time you want to make a comment make sure you know what you're writing about. If not, do it like Jeopardy - in a form of a question.

  • DAMN I WASN'T WATCHING CAREFULLY!!! yeah i saw you land the plane nicely done... jheezz what was i thinking.... i thought the captain had control of the plane and you were controlling the thrust levers X( AHHHH dang it!

  • beautiful...

  • very smooth landing

  • whoa sial luhh like driving car like that sooo coool! "turn left here" haha

  • what airlines is that?

  • Singapore Airlines

  • awesome!

  • awesome landing dude thnx 4 the vid!

  • is a degree really required to join SQ? i wanna be a SQ pilot once im 26

  • Yeah I am planning gain PPl at flight school then go back to workforce save double that cost for CPL and will do that in university better for employment, hope so. Anyway thanks for being my guide and hope one day u will be my cap (huh)

  • hey ther! what age did u get ur PPL and did u go uni or just flight school?

  • PPL @ 18

    No uni, just flying school.

  • haha lol. I dont need to go there I can ask u some questions since u r a pilot lol

  • Thanks for letting us passengers see what you Pilots see. This was a great video. I really enjoyed it!!!

  • I will try ask when I take trip and wanna ask some pilot career questions to pilots. Did u asked cabet crew to ask consent from pilot to let u there?

    thanks mate

  • I was the pilot on that flight. The guy holding my camera was the relief pilot.

Unless you are travelling in first or business class you are not likely going to talk to the pilots in flight. It's all because of security requirements after 9/11. The cockpit door remains locked in flight. The pilots only come out for "physiological" needs.

  • by the airsafety Act, they shouldnt let u there during the landing

  • Unless it's someone who is actually required to be there. Like a crew member.

  • they let you go on the cabin???

  • damn, i so cant wait to submit my application! screw uni.

  • confirm is SIA or silkair. " turn left here ah?" haha..

  • where did you get that from? All I heard was "turn left here yeah?"

  • it was very subtle. right at the end.

  • I still heard "yeah" instead of "ah". I suppose we hear what we want to hear.

  • it definitely cant be 'yeah', at most 'yah'

  • you're probably right. All that happened >2 years ago with words coming of the mouth of someone I know personally who just happened to be Singaporean.

  • Great View . . .

  • The cockpit view of this landing is really splendid. Thanks

  • good landing, using your 50/10 minimums.

  • good landing, using all minmum denominations

  • Are not forbidden the electronics equipment during landind and take-off (including cameras)?????

  • Yes, they are forbidden and that's a stupid exageration, because a camera with a memory stick or memory card does not interfere with the navigation systems. People beyond the regulations should study electromagnetic theory and the frequencies most critical for those systems. And certainly, a camera has in reasonable terms a zero emission of radiofrequencies. Otherwise, most of these videos ended in an air disaster.

  • Yes, but the reason why the crew asks for electonic devices to be switched off during criticals phases of the flight is because they want the passengers attention to be focused in the crew in case of an emergency. You're using your camera and the aircraft suddenly veers off the runway, and you hit the camera in your eye, for example. Well, If the crew hasn't told you to turn it off and not use it, it becomes their fault, got it ? Same goes with tray tables, seat backs, seat-belts...

  • Runway 16R.

  • Why are you going to tranfer?

  • silky smooth... nice landing

  • Landing on RWY 16R.

  • SIA ? nice smooth landing.

  • Yes. Thanks

  • Ahh..that's good. Congratulations. Maybe you should video the first landing.

  • Anything special about this particular landing? Which airport? Who is the pilot/co-pilot. Number of passengers?

  • Special - my last landing on the 747 before flying the 777. Strong, gusty crosswind as well.

    Landing at Narita, Tokyo

The pilot on the right hand seat (doing the landing) is me!

    Can't remember how many passengers.

  • Who took this video?

  • the relief crew on the jumpseat
