Oil supporter -As is usually the case, your argument is specious and your reasoning is faulty. However, you have one valid point: the oil company is to blame for their damage to us and our way of life.

Sprayone, you know, I hate to admit it, but in a way, you are right. Keep this in mind, we are not your enemy. How would you feel if someone came and demanded half of your hard earned money? Would it be justified just because 150 years ago, someone stole it, so now it is okay if someone steals it again?

Its funny how the anglos stole the land from the natives. They claim it as their own. Karma strikes and the generations of those thieves are now reaping what their ancestors sowed. Now the oil companies are taking from you. I just go make my money in the oil field and laugh at these so called ranchers.

Stupid you say.......the word stupid enters my mind for the people who will be told in the future that they have an untreatable health problem ie: the big "C" word.....CANCER or something as deadly. It will be too late to stand there and defend the oil/gas drilling that went on in their yards. I really feel sorry for you. Money will not save your lives for those who worship the oil companies because they put bread on their tables. Plenty of land else where that is not inhabited. Why drill on us?

Hey, I have a great idea for everyone who thinks it is patriotic to want them to drill on your land. Contact the oil company and offer the the use of your new $50,000 truck for a one time payment of $50. You can maintain the insurance and be liable if they wreck it.. If they do wreck it, you can just buy them another. Just think of what you can do for our country this 4th. Drill baby drill. Go USA

Neverseekfacts, how do you know what the oil company offered or didn't offer the video maker? Were you there? Or, are you working with the landman and oil company to 'pacify' Gardendale before the drilling begins in earnest? Did they let you see the agreement they offered him? How do you know it was 'fair'? You speak as one with inside knowledge. Be forthright. Don't use snarky comments or innuendo. Enlighten us. We await your reply here in youtube land. We await the truth.

When I say 'doing the Lord's work' I mean viewing everything an oil company does as noble, pure, righteous and patriotic. They are in it to make money. It is naive to say that they try to work with everyone implying they are always reasonable and fair. Try disagreeing with well placement and see what they do! Try not signing the surface agreement which waives almost all of their liability and see what they do. Maybe you don't care about such silly inconsequentials, but I do!

I don't care if this is oil country. That does not excuse bad behavior. When an entity has the power to make all the rules, that is too much power. Big oil owns the top positions in the RRC. Their money controls the majority of "our representation" in Austin. They own most of the lawyers. They own most of the environmental industry. The have completely set the agenda. I can't believe how many people have been duped into believing that this behavior is acceptable.

Anger? How about outrage over what oil companies can do to landowners? And the people that have no compunction about supporting them almost no matter what they do? If an oil company takes your land or a goverment takes your land what is the difference? If you have no recourse, isn't that like Venezuela? They want your land and you get nothing for it? HardCase73, you can't say the surface owners get nothing for their land. They are offered compensation, just not what the surface owner thinks it might be worth. I'm not saying the oil companies are always right, there are some changes that need to be made. As far as the comment about the "stupid little video" and saying that I called him stupid, there a lot of difference. One can do a stupid thing and still be smart. What are you trying to say about "doing the Lord's work..." ? I'm an owner.

You are reading things into something that really aren't there just for the sake of argument. What does "doing the Lord's work but..." mean??? I'm a surface owner and I knew what the possibility of a well being on my land when I bought it. There is a history between this particular person and this particular oil company.

You must want a world in which oil companies have no rules and its 'drill baby drill' all the way no matter how much it costs a land owner! Just get the damned oil...screw anyone in the way! seekfactsfirst, we are not against drilling. I realize that without it we would be a third world country. Some of us just believe that although it is legal for them to run over us, it is not right. The dominant estate doctrine was created in 1862, during the Civil War and when slavery was legal. In my opinion, it is bad law and should be changed. Until it is changed, some of us will continue to exercise our right to freedom of speech. Just as you have a right to an opinion, so do we.

seekfacksfirst, I have had personal experience and have spoken with other landowners and we have come the the opposite conclusion. I seriously doubt that you actually have a well on you. There is a difference if one actually has "a dog in the race." Watching half of your retirement go down the tubes is a little different than just talking to them. I am perfectly aware of what the law says. I have researched it as completely as anyone. You just do not understand what our complaints are.

If you disagree look here find the truth out about irresponsible drilling watch the documentary "Gasland". You don't have to be a liberal or a conservative to want the right to be able to live life without the risk of having your drinking water polluted. Besides directional drilling could have been done and protected the personal property of those in Gardendale.

Episode 2 will be the results of the drilling mud testing. All results will be reported, good or bad. Hopefully, this "sludge" is not toxic; who would want that lingering on their land indefinitely?

I totally support the oil companies drilling for oil. But they should do their business in a way that is respectful and doesn't hurt the land. If they harm someones property they should make it right. When they drill near homes and in an area like Gardendale they should take extra precautions. Livestock, kids and animals all live on the land. The video shows the fence not anchored at the bottom. A poor job. Perhaps it will keep out cows but not smaller animals or kids. Freedomfirst1000

Now that you mention it, why do oil companies have the right to go anywhere they choose on land they do not own? Why aren't oil and gas companies who are making millions of dollars on each well that produces, not required by law to make landowner's whole when their home and farm's values are reduced in half? When you bought your land here in Oil Country, did you not know that there was a possibility there might be some drilling on your land? The mineral owner has the right to use as much of the surface as is reasonably necessary to extract the minerals. The law recognizes this right because the mineral estate is useless without the ability to get the minerals out of the ground. Here we rely on the oil companies, it's what our economy is based on. Where would we be without them??

First, compensation only comes with strings that release the oil company from this type of liability so their offer is effectively a "bribe", I'm not for sale. Second, these animals were NOT let into the pit as you assert. They wandered in from a huge gap in the woefully inadequate fence that a billion dollar oil company could not or would not do properly. As for the sample jar, the PVC pipe shown was used to push through the "muck" to extract.

It's not a bribe, they don't have to offer anything. You were there so of course the dogs are going to go where you go. Bet if you would have went out there and showed the oil company the gap they would have fixed it the best they could. Course I won't want to deal with you either!! You are the one that is liable by being inside the fenced off area, which the oil company has the right to be there. Thanks be to the oil companies for your thriving business!!
