@okawarichang1 the pop you are hearing is part of the launch control system. the idea is to keep the turbo spinning even as the rpm's drop and the throttle decreases, so that when the gas is pressed again, the turbo does not need to spool before it can supply the desired booooost (allowing him to 'launch' the kart at max power from the turbo)

Actually metalheadmattdrift is correct, its system designed to build boost before u launch, Look up some "anti-lag" or "launch control" vids, They use this in rally cars, and some track cars, very effective way to get rid of turbo lag

The point about the F1 is it has this thing called 'downforce' which I dont think you have much of. They also have wide tyres designed to put lots of that power down. The point is they do it to get a car around a track quickly. I admire the efforts of putting an engine like that into a cart as an excercise in self indulgence but in reality there is too much power with too little control.

i know... and i am fully aware and educated on the subject. but you have to look at it from the perspective i do to see why i said that: this is already useless at a race, it has poor weight balance, too much power to handle, not a very stiff chassis, higher center of gravity, etc, etc... so, its a toy, a very cool and fun and challenging toy... so when it goes that far off, why not just keep adding power? its enjoyable, its fun to add hp, you gain bragging rights, and its a challenge

launch control is a concept brought up by lambo back then with their LP640. the idea is that the tires have only i defined and limited traction quoefficient (is it written that way? i normally talk about this, not write), therefore if you push the tires beyond that limit you will have a burnout. have you ever seen a dragster burnout when they go from 0 to 200 mph in 3 seconds? NOPE, if you can keep the tires gri´pping you get better acceleration... forget about NFS and the fast and the furious

yes and no. Launch control in the modern world of turbos is an ignition cut at certain variables. Like in 1st gear going under 7mph with the clutch in and the gas to the floor, it will cut spark at 5500rpms (or whatever you set it at) and it will help spool a turbo. Look at any of the big turbo'd drag cars, they ALL have it.. Unless they're auto ofcourse.

burnouts end up in power loss... so the idea was that depending on the gear ratio, the tire "quoefficient" (w/e) and the rated hp at any given point in the revs, you could calculate the exact rpm before the tires lost grip, but high enough for there to be heavy acceleration... the LP640 (when you select the Launch Control feature) automatically engages the clutch at around 4000 rpm... you're welcome

I've re-watched this video a few times now and still can't even put into words how awe inspiring this machine really is. Wether it was engineered through years of R&D or just welded together in a garage by a weekend worrior that was out to get the most out of the word performance, this thing is just sick. The launch control gives such an amazing sound and sight to this cart that it should be illeagal. I love it, it's so diffrent and so original, despite other gixxer carts, this one is the best!

Most turbochargers don't have ALS, but usually when it comes to race, prototype or rally machinery turbocharged engines are either equipped with regular ALS (CBV) or a solenoïd-controlled bypass valve.

Btw, why a GSXR engine? Way too heavy, try a KTM 950cc engine. ;)

Black smoke is probably from the ALS system which prevents the turbocharger to dip under it's operational RPM-threshold.

It works by injected gas inside the exhaust manifold (which hopefully is combusted) to provide extra exhaustgasses to keep the turbine spinning.

And therefore the compressor spinning.
