  • Thanks for the very BEST video and explanation of anal glands on cats. You have done an outstanding job for all of us. Thanks again

  • really gooey cakey material??? Yeaaaah thats more than likely cat turds.

  • What the fuck posessed me to look at this video!!!???

  • Yeah, from my education I've learned that, holy shit, that stuff smells.

  • I'm in the weird part of youtube...once again......>.>

  • Once my cat startled and emptied his anal glands to our kitchen table, it didn't look like chocolate sprinkles. It was more like slimy yellowish goo with brown bits. Smelled awful though.

  • I think mine need a godd squeeze

  • My dog had something similar to this. It really upsets him and he hides away. Are there any risks by doing this yourself?

  • @mscookiesandcream160 Gentle pressure and a treat afterward helps make it better for them. As long as you use firm pressure but not pinch and cause irritation and swelling, should be OK.

  • @DrGregDVM Canned food instead of dry may be a better choice and help prevent this problem

  • @mscookiesandcream160 good luck

  • Gloves... ლ(ಠ_ಠლ) gloves!!!

  • @StationZeroOne We were wearing gloves! Thanks for watching

  • CHOCOLATE SPRINKLES!! :D

  • I bet this cat would love to bite the vet!

  • @MegaEagle63 without a doubt! That's why a technician holding them is so valuable!

  • OMG, so creepy !!

  • it might be "educational" but its so wrong

  • I have a 1 year old cat I thought might have this problem but I don't think this is what it is. She just has a very stinky butthole (more than usual) & sometimes drips clear fluid. I love her very much but it's hard to hug & love a cat that is getting stinky substance on you! Could it have something to do with anal glands or is it something else? She's otherwise healthy, had all her shots.

  • @xeokym 1year old cats can have diarrhea problems due to giardia, coccidia, and parasites. They also can have anal gland problems. Add a bit of pumpkin to her diet (1 tsp) in some good canned food and see if it will help

  • @DrGregDVM Thanks very much, I will take her for worm checkup & try the pumpkin thing.

  • Did you clean the fronts of the anal glands so they became less inflamed, and terrible looking?

    Poor baby.

  • @whiskerchild Yep,we cleaned them up, and dispensed ointment

  • Dry food is dry, what would i have done whitout you doctor!

  • @CyborgGrox Did I say that?

  • Its really not that hard to do. I do it when I'm washing my cat sometimes just to make sure it never gets to full or infected.

Just youtube some videos, you will work it out.

  • I adopted a cat and found out that she is prone to plugged anal glands. I have taken her to the vet on several occassions to get unplugged but it is time consuming. Can you show how to do it yourself as the vet said I will have to bring her in atleast 1/month for the rest of her life!!! Yikes, I'm not prepared to do that and don't want to take her back to the pound.

    Thanks

  • @tinkerbell85158 Hard to do by yourself but a groomer or vet may be able to help. Try a moister food (canned instead of dry) You can even mix in a tsp of pumpkin daily to see if it will help her glands empty

  • @DrGregDVM The groomer or vet may be able to show you how to do it

  • How bad does the fluid smell? What exactly is the odor like?

  • @yogozarfy Like a mild skunk smell or a bad smelling flatus or "fart"

  • I gotta take my cat to the vet! We JUST found out that their is a little hole to the side of her anus and looks all infected! Thanks for the video, guess its her anal gland? Watching the video of the dog and you were flushing it out with water makes me think this could get expensive :( and poor thing must be in so much pain.

  • @PreciousPitty She probably will just need antibiotics or you can wash it out and put neosporin on it for a week. Sounds like her anal gland. No need to flush in cats

  • @DrGregDVM WOW thank you for your quick response! We had taken her in that next morning and they cleaned it, gave her a shot of penicillin and then put her on clavamox. IM so glad it wasn't something really expensive, sense we have one of our dogs that is dying of mast cell cancer (actually she past away 5 days ago) and IM really thinking about their diet. I see you got a book im gonna go to the site and check it out. We have been feeding them Purina dog chow, for years, I hope I havnt messedup

  • @PreciousPitty Most dogs can eat about anything but always helps keep them healthier to feed them a better diet...just like us!

  • great information thank youu

  • @isabella8885 Thanks for watching, makes some people sick ....but it's helpful to see what it looks like.

  • Caky stuff LOL

  • @abdu2s Shouldn't make it sound like food

  • Is that the same with dogs too? PS just say no to goo :) hahaha!

  • @curiosidadesextrano Dogs anal gland problems aren't so dry

  • OMG! I don't know y I continue to watch your videos!

  • @oOpsychochickOo If they gross you out...just say no!!

  • @DrGregDVM i just can't seem to not click on play! :)

  • @oOpsychochickOo Just like wanting to see waht happened in a car accident...but not really
