@chrispix I have written a couple of questions that a well educated bloke in the area of Astra turbo mechanics may have the answers to. Car running really badly spluttering and loss of power. Will only drive at barely above idle revs otherwise engine light appears flashing and car shutters even worse sounding like an out of tune 60's beetle( not normal obviously) any idea of what it could be?? I kno it's kind of broad! BTW enjoyed your vids. Thnx m8

1. Get in the car with the ignition off.

2. Press the throttle pedal AND brake pedal down and hold them down.

3. Turn the ignition key to position 1 and then onto position 2.

4. The EML will begin to flash, it should flash 10 times initially and then pause then flash a certain ammount of times, pause, flash a few times again etc etc

10 x flash (pause) 1 x flash (pause) 7 x flash (pause) 10 x flash (pause) = 0 1 7 0 which would be: P0170 Then enter the code in google

BTW really overdue for a service and timing belt change if that helps you diagnose. Pls answer if you or anybody knows and has the time.

Should I do this to my Sri astra H and is it better for the turbo. What benigits do I get? Also have a big prob! Car is now spluttering and has total loss of power. Car will only go if I barely accelerate and let the car wind out real slow otherwise engine light appears and flashes and car splutters badly no matter what. Any ideas as to the cause?? Would really appreciate to know so I have idea what it may cost? Thanx

Quick question: I have a Fiat Bravo 1.4 Turbo (tuned with 200bhp) it has a dump valve as standard but I think it's leaking a bit, what can you expect from a Fiat eh? :P but was just wondering if replacing the dump valve with a different make will require as much work as in this video or whether I can just take the dump valve off and fling the new one in place?

Is there cheaper parts to use than those blue silicone pipes?

I want pipes to be added between air filter and engine, but this far I am not going to hit over 70 euros for couple pipes, because those are overpriced for it's purpose and pipes needed onto car without turbo don't need to be so good..

Even water pipes would do the job but those are too solid and ugly.

whats the advantage of a dump valve mate?

Promotes flow away from the turbo when you close the throttle. It continues to draw cool air through the intercooler and should prevent the turbo from slowing down.

Disadvantage is you are wasting cool air and the computer doesn't know where it's gone. Sometimes causing the mixture to momentarily run rich and in some instances causes a backfire.

If you are talking about disabling the oem recirculation valve then no. I left it enabled as it will prevent error codes but you'll still get the sound of the new BOV.

proper beast not the dump valve is the peice which makes that air compressed sound when the throttles been lift off

Hi ajneeves, pipes are from Courtenay sport. About £100 for the standard plenum kit. :)
