  • Nice groove. Bravo!

  • Are the pu originals?

  • Where you got the tabs?

  • @darkmagnifico

    no tabs, ear

  • I really love you bass mate :)

  • Dude this cover is insane! Well done!

  • I'm loving the tone!

  • haha, good cover.

i lold when i saw you put the random mothafucka in the labelsXD

  • which strings do you use?

  • @TWoehrer

In this clip, D'Addario XL. Now I use Fender-strings though, they're better.

  • @BasEirik

    I agree with you.

Fender bass strings are really good; they are now my favourite strings

  • Nice groove, like your other videos too, great range of musical taste

  • geez, these tiny fingers,,,,with a right hand classical guitar technique, thats why bass sounds so flimsy and out of balance... listen to black funk players..too hectic and nervous...."white"!

  • @MacReviewzOnline

I guess i've been playing too much metal... :)

  • @BasEirik naaah....just add a bit of...bass :)

  • thats my favorite color for a p bass, great cover man

  • nice bass and playing

  • Nice!! For some reason, I've spent most of my day watching these bass covers of this song - this is clearly one of the best.

  • nice P bass dude :) (and the funk is with you)

    What's with the pickguard?

  • @kristijanog

it's a gold anodized pickguard, standard on the classic 50's basses

  • This is the best non-American P- bass you can buy .

  • HOLY SHIT! is that bass neon? or is the camera just weird

  • @96kjartan

Haha what? It's called fiesta red. The camera is pretty crappy too.

  • @BasEirik Fiesta red? thats awesome i wish they made stingrays that color

  • @96kjartan The classic Stingrays come in Coral Red which is pretty dam close to Fiesta Red.

  • why they called it RED if it is PINK? =D

  • @michaelhenriquesrj

it is NOT pink!!! it's light red....

  • @BasEirik

    <3

  • this is an amazing tone, would you say a roadworn p is better than an american p, also what amp are you using

  • @DanteTheDemonHunter2

I havn't tested amy roadworn models so I can't say. The amp is a Hagström BT-50, a 50watt solid state amp.

  • do you realize?

that you have the most wonderful bass?

  • Just look at the Abbey Road live and you'll see Paul Turner play a P-Bass on this song !

    Now don't say it's wrong. ;)

  • Great Tone, I want a p bass now.

  • nothing man i was wrong!!! i've played this bass today.. it's so cool!!! you can do everything with it!!!!!

  • @MatteoRicozzi

    damn right ;)

  • @BasEirik it's not the bass !!! for this music! bus it was cool!!!

  • I wouldnt necessarily say its not the right bass for the song (or music) because if you watch jamiroquai live on abbey road do this song the bass player is using a P-Bass, and i think the tone is almost perfect. I'd say this video just has too much bass on it, you cant hear the highs too well. but everybodies entitled to their own opinion..

  • why this with a P Bass???

  • @MatteoRicozzi

    Haha why not?

  • @MatteoRicozzi The Jamiroquai bassist plays this with a P live too. :)

  • supper

  • perfect cover. Perfect tone.

Are you using flatwounds, if so what kind?

  • @Ninedaysgone

Nope D'Addario XL's in this one

But if you listen to my other video, "Salem Al Fakir - Dream Girl" you can hear this bass with Rotosound flats

  • heey man!! is this bass light?? or heavy? in weight i mean.

  • @WULFZERGE401

    medium

    3,8 kilos

  • @WULFZERGE401 therefore i'd say for a p bass it's light ;) alder with maple neck, pretty thick one so the center of gravity is rather on the left hand side.

(in my opinion that's exactly how a p bass should be: nasty! ;)

  • Hehe yeah! Altough I think this bass is much more balanced than for example my thunderbird, which is much more prone to neck-dive, altough once you get used to it it's not a problem.

  • nice pocket...been looking into these 50s p basses, yet haven't been able to find out where they are made...japan?

  • @holypigs

    made in mexico

  • tight groove. one of the deepest pocket covers i have heard on youtube. i play bass as well. how long do you play?

  • @CptChaos88

    i dunno 4 years maybe

  • @CptChaos88 I'm a guitar player, i've been hearing a lot of this "pocket" reference for bass grooves. Can you explain this?

  • @ericalward

that's easy. if a groove is tight, it's "in the pocket". the more it grooves the deeper is the pocket ;-) and then again it's just a matter of taste if it grooves or if it has a "deep pockte", some people like machine-like perfect timings, I perfer a tight groove but with enough space for each musucian to improvise and express themselves. and the expression doesn't have to refer to bass or drum grooves. a band or drumer and bassist together can have a pretty deep pocket, too ;-)

  • @CptChaos88 cool, thanks man

  • This bass has great tone! I was thinking of getting one but wasn't sure... Does it play well?

  • @4stringsjoe

    yes very well

  • Great sound!

  • What a sound! Best cover I heard yet. What strings do you have on that Fender? What amp are you playing threw?

  • @bentpolski

Strings are D'Addario XL amp is Hagstrom BT-50

    thanks man!

  • wonderful performance! do u use some compressor to have that great sound?

  • @CristianFagiano

Nope, just the bass right into the amp.

  • NASTIEEE

  • Love that bass and your playing too!

  • tight song. badass cover, and that 50s precision is so bomb :)

    ~bungee

  • @bungmasterteddybear Thanks man! :)

  • the chords of this song it's like I want your love by chic, but a bit up on the scale..

  • whats that little impro you did in the beginning?

  • I think that's a bass part, if you listen to the song you can hear that melody too. But the sound of it differs, i think it's on like a jazz bass with a pick or something and then the rest of the songs on a P-bass.

  • im wondering how you get such a bright and deep tone at once...i have a Lakland Duck Dunn signature (basically a p-bass) and it always just sounds growly and deep, i can never get both a good bottom end and bright high's

  • Much of the tone is in the amp and strings. Lakland makes excellent basses so i'm pretty sure that if you change the strings or try another amp you will get a totally different tone, and if you're lucky, maybe a nice tone too ;)

  • Comment removed

  • dumapies: Lakland Duck Dunn bass sound comes from the neck. You can hear it when you're playing without any amplifications, just acoustically. I have that bass too and the sound is a bit too muddy for me too.

  • @Oelm3n

maybe a pair of fender pick ups will do it? i don't know

  • I don't think its the pick-ups. I'm thinking of getting a new neck for it. :) A real jazz bass neck which is a bit thicker than the Duck Dunn one. That might do it: :)

  • @Oelm3n

mines been acting up...somethings wrong with the electronics

  • Nah, it's the guitar player that does that.

  • you sure? sounds like a bass to me

  • Really cool bass btw.

  • great cover and very nice bass

  • Thanks man :)

  • Hey,

Ive been thinking of getting this bass

    Would you recommend it?

PERFECT cover by the way, good job!

  • Thanks man =)

Yes I would definantely recommend it. It's a great bass.

  • nice cover!

does that cover over your bridge effect your sound or is it just for show?

  • just for show, I took it off though because it's in the way when you wanna change strings.

  • Does this bass slap nicely? ie Crisp popping, puncy slapping?

  • Depends pretty much what kind of strings you use... Right now I have flats on it so the slap sound isn't exactly crisp but if you put like a pair of Stainless Steel rounds on it i think it would work perfectly for slap too.

  • dude your playing and your tone made me a big desire of buying one of these! which strings do you use? and amp?

  • The Strings are some D'Addario rounds, I wouldn't recommend bying them though because they sounded good for like a week but then they just died and sounded horrible. I Would recommend you to buy some Rotosund Swingbass rounds or Rotosound 77 flatwounds. The amp is a Hagström BT50, a 50 watt solid state amp made in Sweden.

  • hey man, what color is that bass

  • Fiesta Red, funky colour!

  • perfect....seriously you should be in a crazy funk band or session for loads of funk bands

  • Hehe not many of the in my town :P

  • cool-!!

  • the bass is active or passive??

  • Passive

  • nice

  • Yeah, cool!

  • NICE!!!
