  • Is this Canadian or something?

  • Incredible walking bass + chords at the same time! Wow!

  • and because this guy I have to get myself a 7 string :D

  • i love it,but do you guys notice that the pick was litteraly in his mouth ..and while he was singing :oo

  • Wow.

  • what song is this?

  • Plays great, looks great, sings great....it's not fair.

  • What an absolute genius! A totally gifted player with astounding pitch! I only came across him by chance when browsing through Richard Cook's Jazz Encyclopedia! I just had to investigate further; and I'm really glad that I did! I appreciate how metal bands like Korn use 7-strings, but Pizzarelli uses it to great effect! He has a certain sartorial elegance too - he would look better in a slim-jim tie - but has a personal style all of his own! He does a great version of You Got Rhythm too!

  • Love this its nice

  • I was fully prepared to dislike this guy, but if he really just accurately sang every note in that solo as he played it then I'm going to go get of my lazy ass and start practicing.

  • 0:48-0:53 like a dance. Its all so awesome.

  • That. Was. AWESOME. I thought I'd seen quite a lot.. But that topped everything I've ever seen :L

  • Awesome jazz voice ! Anyone know what is the name of this song ?

  • @MrSuchy945 Song: "Oh How my Heart Beats for You". It´s in one of his first recordings, called "New Standards" (early/mid nineties, I think)

  • Anyone know what the guitar is?

  • @southrules It is his own custom made 7-string from a guy named Bill Moll from springfield MO. They are amazing instruments, I should know because I own one :P

  • @sKarmA115 @southrules I think the Russian 7 string guitar was prototype for this guitar.

  • @TheGlovv meh not sure about that, george van eps had a 7string gretsch back in the day that john pizzarelli's dad Bucky used to play on. multi string instruments go back as far as the lute. the late models had a ton of strings on them lol

  • I'd be able to play like too if Bucky was my father!!!!

    Just joking...

    Much love and respect.

  • the joey defrancesco of guitar!!!

  • great voicing chord.

  • He's what a great style in all that he does! One of the best!

  • his solos sound almost all identical. seriously swinging player though

  • Very professional. entertaining

  • Caralh.....rsrs

  • what song is this???

  • @XFSavX my heart beats for you. originally played with his trio.

  • 1:00 Robert de Niro!

  • @HaroldoGardenio He reminds me more of Tom Jones than Robert de Niro!!!

  • @jlmdot In the minute 1:00 is DeNiro!

  • awsome...bestial !!!

  • Just like Daddy . NICE

  • oh snap he's got a 7 string, thats awesome!!!

  • @MalteseCross dayum, i thought i drank too much....

  • change the title from 'exploring' to 'completely owning'!!

  • Jazz guitar

Where it is acceptable to play in a tie

  • monstro!

  • Holy. Crap.

  • little coquette is the best i've heard. i'd love to see it here

  • Genial...que bom gosto!

  • ESSE CARA É DEMAIS!!! BOM GÔSTO COM TÉCNICA APURADA! É TUDO!

    MENESCAL

  • Bravo Master!

  • @cjabluesman well it's still better than ur face ;)

  • @setalaka y como sabes eso si no conoces mi cara?

otra cosa, no es malo que sea fea la guitarra, no se porque todos saltaron a atacarme por eso.

  • Oh my gosh - Jazz Master.

    Guitar

  • anyone got the chords down? *-*

  • what song is this?

  • @outside1 balls

  • I just bought a Moll JP model. A great guitar! I can only imagine what a solid Moll must sound like...

  • @peterguit did you put LaBella flats on it? I personally don't like how they sound, but Bucky and Johnny get a great sound out of them. At least I think that's what I remember them using.

  • @pickinstone When Bucky records acoustic he puts bronze strings on his guitar I think. I put nickel round wounds on my Moll which brought the guitar to live much more. When playing amplified the tape wounds give a nice warm jazzy sound. And like John says; they're easy on the frets and easy on the fingers....

  • That's the wildest left hand work i've seen in my life

  • Name of the guitar please???

  • Skilled yes really skilled yes a virtuoso NO. Listen to Paco de lucia or Li Jie or master Segovia. If you do not know any of them search here on youtube. Paco has a perfect technic and can do anything he wants with a guitar. LI jie paganini is unbelievable to hear and segovia, well it's segovia a master in the classical repertoire. Another would be master Aniello desiderio., playing scarlatti. Listen to them and you will know what virtuoso menas

  • @HiggsPat i really doubt that Paco, Li Jie or Segovia can do this :)

  • @gabrieloliveiramusic I agree. Although the players you mentioned have incredible technique and can be classified as virtuosos, we have to include John Pizzarelli in that category because he has an incredible command of the guitar. Those players mentioned such as Paco de lucia, I haven't seen them utilize chordal harmony and substitute changes like demonstrated here by John Pizzarelli while singing.

  • @HiggsPat Apples and oranges, can't compare them and why should you. Guitar can be played in a lot of styles, each has its masters. Enjoy them in their own right. There's a clip on YT of P.Gilbert playing what he calls 'flamingo', joking he can't play real flamenco (Paul is a nice guy). While arguably one of the best technically developed rock players of all time, he has a hard time controlling his right hand. Likewise Paco wouldn't be very great at rock or jazz guitar. Enjoy!

  • @DG320 well spoken Sir...I like your style.

  • how can he chord all that stuff.... and... and!... sing at tha same time!... i quit.. i'm selling my guitars on ebay now!... i don't what tha fuck i was thinking! jeez!

  • @Hassenmusic jaja he just tried so hard for that talent, maybe he practices everyday! dont give up you can do it every musician struggles at first but once you get to the peak you are kind of through and basiclly its just based on practice

  • Incredible Playing!!!

  • Exciting like Django.

  • So nice!!

  • Initially I actually read "exploDing jazz guitar" and was a little disappointed when the guitar did not explode. But John Pizzarelli is still super awesome. Although an exploding guitar would make it even more so. ;)))

  • @arbshredder Good point

  • ONE OF THE FEW 7 STRING GUITAR PLAYERS

  • If you get a chance to see him in person...don't miss it. Virtuoso and great showman, too.

  • How in the world could this get any "dislikes?"

  • This is the $hit right here! Virtuoso, groove, catchy hooks, and best of all....he's having a lot of fun!!

  • Where was the pick!? :_D

  • Okay, so his voice is like the best thing ever.

  • FANTASTIC ! MY FAVORYT !

  • ¿¿¿Se sacó una púa de la boca???

  • whats this song called? i love it!

  • Comment removed

  • huh !!!!!!.... it will take more than a decade to understand the tabs !!!

  • @max43941 Don't worry max, there's no such thing as a tab in this realm of music.

  • @max43941 where´d you find tabs?

  • awesome, what kind of strings does he use?

  • @h3kt0rshr3d they are labella tapewound strings im pretty sure

  • @h3kt0rshr3d they are labella tapewound strings im pretty sure

  • this guy is sick!!

  • Betcha can't play this !!!

  • Such a great tone and amazing playing. Is it me or does that neck look HUGE.

  • @jazzman3071 7 string guitar buddy.

  • Yes ..Yes ..This guy is the whole package...and a full head of hair as well...at least I have a Joe Pass haircut...not that it helps all that much with my playing..!!

  • @guitarpicka1 Nice comment;-)))

  • is that smoke coming out of the guitar at the end?

  • I expect nothing less from Bucky's son.

  • pimping.

  • Simply - ART!

    Great!

...and he's playin' it as if it's an a joke!

  • Now where'd that pick come from?

  • pick pops out his mouth like a PEZ dispenser... a Pezzarelli! maestro!

  • Wow, this is an amazing performance, I've never seen anything like this.

  • Okay. Where's the slow motion replay? This can't be done by a mere human.

  • I heard his Dad calls his guitar playing fearless.

  • str8 up nigga

    wezzyshit

  • Damn!!!

    He tore that guitar up!!

Mr. Pizzarelli you are an ACE in my book sir

  • this guy is a MONSTER!!! that was deathdefying

  • wow!!!

  • Fabulous

  • love that RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR at 1:48 :D

  • This guy's incredible. AND at 1:00 - 1:04 he regurgitates a guitar pic. I love it!

  • Great!

  • That was so cool.

  • He sings with a pick in his mouth!.. Dangerous!

  • @peterguit He keeps it behind his middle finger. He just blows on his hand to get a better grip of the pick when he switches from finger picking to using a pick.

  • @peterguit YEAH THE PICK MUST BE ALL SLIPERY IT MIGHT FALL WHILE HE PLAYS ... IT WOULD BE A CATASTROPHE OR... HE MIGHT CHOKE..

  • @darwinswinton he probably has a few in there!

  • @peterguit it was in between his fingers the whole time. he simply licks his fingers so that the pick has more grip in his hand

  • @peterguit you right its dangerous

  • @AlbertoHewson Aparantly he hides it in his hand he explains on the dvd. Neat trick.

  • He is my favorite! Thanks

  • the class of its own. thankyou johnny!

  • 8o...

  • This is Brilliant.. Bravo.. great style.. you are HOT

  • Virtuoso...:-)
