I must say, the title cards for each segment are pretty impressive considering you did them in Mario Paint. That was pretty resourceful and I'm kind of jealous actually because I'm bad with Mario Paint, but I still love it. So, I've been wondering, how did you distribute your episodes to people back then?
Wow, this is great stuff. You must have been about ~16 or so. It's amazing how well put together this show was given the inferior technonology you had to work with. However, I think Donkey Kong Country is a little overrated. There is no denying its graphical musical splendor, but the platforming elements are nothing we haven't seen before. If you think riding animals was cool, play Adventure Island. They were the ones to do it first. DKC is just a run of the mill sidescrolling game.
Neither. We all wished it was on some public access station, but even though we sent them a tape once, they never accepted it. This is the same station that would air nude teen models at 1am. No joke.
So you pretty much made the show for yourself and family/friends? I bet there is alot of Classic Video Masters TV youtubers have not yet seen. I definitely want to see more as being born in 1984, these are the games and style of show I remember. Good job, keep it up.
Eh, family couldn't give a shit about the show. The only one who really supported me was my grandmother (she passed in 2006). This is her basement that I still use to film in even after all these years. Though on occasion, you will see me film at my GF's house.
Thanks for posting this too. I love 90s gaming because that's when I was born. (1990) I really wish I was born, say the early 70s then I would be able to experiece the rise (and fall) and eventual rise again of gaming. Also, I would grow up as a kid during my favourite decade, the 80s! Yay for 80s and early 90s gaming!
It was a copy of a copy, basically. I was new to editing, so I edited voiceovers in one edit, then music for the segments in another. I think that's what I did. Over the course of 14 years, the VHS tape does wear out, and some parts of the show skip, or there are just terrible tracking problems to the point where you can barely read the games text or anything else.

Hey, better than no reviews at all.
baxterfilms 3 years ago
Since you won't show us the first episode, could you enlighten us as to what games you reviewed in said episode?
baxterfilms 3 years ago
I might upload it someday, but since you asked.
Spider-Man Vs Kingpin (Sega CD)
Super Punch-Out (Super NES)
They were really crappy reviews, like a minute and a half each. I was just first starting out, and didn't really tell you much about these games.

I just LOVE the 80s and early/mid 90's I really envy you guys.

What is the song for the Video Review intro?
FSinWCR 3 years ago
That's from Sonic CD. I believe it's the "clear stage" theme.
Back in 1995, there wasn't royalty free music we could use (that we knew of, anyway)

thanks. i knew i heard it before, but couldn't recall where.

Any friends in school or anything support the show?
baxterfilms 3 years ago
Not a lot of friends saw these, especially the early ones. The only episodes shown in school were
Episode 9 in my writing class.
Episode 7 in my english class.
Episode 5, english class, but on the last day of school, so I think like..2 other students saw it.
At least today, there are people who see the show.

Yep, I was 16. And I do remember the Adventure Island games, I'll have to review them sometime.
Back then, there was a lot of stuff I said about certain games that I probably could have phrased better, or not praised so much.

I've all ways wondered, was this on public access or did you mail out tapes for this show?

Why did you turn Mario into your slave?
...just kill him already.
CenetaurmanE52 3 years ago
.....huh?
GrilledMonkeyFat 3 years ago
He was pulling a trolly full of mail, and he was going at a VERY slow pace.
Just end his misery already.
CenetaurmanE52 3 years ago
OHH yeah, forgot about that. LOL
It's Mario Paint graphics. All they had was Mario. Couldn't get the dude from Halo.
