local sansibar from leyte are made from car and truck leaf springs that are usually 5160 steel. Ron's stuff is made of new 5160 as opposed to recycled 5160 steel. A friend of mine has a replica kris from TFW and says that it's a great beater sword. It will take some pretty tough punishment!
The swords and knives on the Traditional Filipino Weapons web site are a combination of 5160 and D2 with a sodium nitrate treaatment. As you can see from all these blade testing videos, they are very durable and combat ready. These are not just wall hangers.
We are trying to revive Philippine history bringing back all the ancient weapons. Its not easy to do but we are doing it.
@copypacercopypacer Yes, it was a lot of work getting these historically accurate. Finding these is not easy. I do want to do a Kampilan test cut. That is on the list. 2011 will bring in a whole bunch of new cut videos.
@RonOrGina wait how come u don't want to do a kampilan test cut? i'm been trying to find a kampilan test cut but i only found a kampilan bolo test cut >_< why?
