  • I still can't believe Shark fucked Blondie

  • 80's new wave punk scence and that whole era is probally the best music has to offer. tons of great music that sounded different from one another. talking heads, blondie, ramones, and a bunch of other bands that made good music.

this is coming from a young man.

  • we are guys and we dont care if james woods looks hot.

  • Lol Debbie, and yes, even James, are both amazing!

  • If I come back in my next life as a woman, I would want her cheek bones.

  • Debbie, oh Debbie, what a gem. :)

  • Sunday Girl was No1 in the UK

Its a Classic song here its been

described as the best pop song ever

    write in some music magazines.

and was in the top ten best selling

songs of the year. fact. its funny

how the U.S never caught on till much later.

  • The television screen has become the retina of the mind's eye. That's why I refused to appear on television. Except on television. Of course, O'Blivion was not the name I was born with. That's my television name. Soon, all of us will have special names; names designed to cause the cathode ray tube to resonate.

  • @TheXenomorph1

They had it right, except it was going to be with computers rather than tv.

  • @JimmySteller I was just thinking about that, hence why I looked this up. I find it very interesting that This movie was pretty close to how it is today with the character Brian oblivion.

  • "soon all of us will have special names" - Cronenberg predicted internet user names!

  • Wow. Everyone here is talking about Debbie Harry. What about James Woods? He's freaking hot in this movie!

  • She still makes my jaw drop.

  • Why are people bitching about Chris Stein? cant think he's that shit seen as though he's been with the band since they formed and he hasn't been kicked out. And she DID do drugs most bands in the 70s/80s did, and as for smoking, who cares what she does? its her life.

At the end of the day, Blondie are one of the biggest new-wave/punk bands ever.

  • LOVE!

  • Wow, Chris Stein gets no love in these comments. He wrote some good songs. Until HOG, Blondie suffered the same fate as all the other punk/new wave bands in terms of radio exclusion in the US, but they already had hits around the world. As to HOG, the 1975 and 1978 demos show the song far along in development-lyrics, tune, instrumental bridge. The decision to make it a disco song was Harry's but Stein agreed with it. Chapman did a great job recording it but he certainly didn't create it.

  • Chris Stein pattented the canned guitar fuzz that Debbie"s angelic voice sounds so great on top off. Chris deserves credit, he was and is Debbies creative PARTNER. Cheers ihasch.

  • Rena looks like Abi Titmuss!

  • Marshall McLuhan killed my dog...ran over him on Bay St. between Bay Bloor video and the Basilica of Basilians. Blind O'blivious basterd!

  • I have a copy of the novel with Debbie Harry's pic on the cover which she was kind enough to autograph for me ... Love Nikki Debbie Harry. Thanks, Ms. Harry, that meant the world to me.

  • The woman never had an ugly day in her frickin life...

  • OMG! "Soon all of us will have special names" does any one think he might mean like Emails, usernames, and other online type persona's.

  • "Soon all of us will have ... special names."

  • On verrait décidément mal ce film se faire de nos jours...

  • When she admits that she lives in 'a highly excited state...' she looks so hot.

  • deborah is deeply sexy, and has very beautiful bone structure the camera loves her and so do most people,as for drugs, she is not a role model she is an entertainer/artist,look to your parents if you want role models.

  • Parents aren't perfect, either. Each must take responsibility for finding his or her own way.

  • sgrannel, thanks for getting my point,if you are an adult, sort yourself out.

  • great clip. Thanks for posting.

  • My favorite is Lally Cadeau! She is a wonderful actress and I really wish I could have seen her on stage!

  • Deborah is so hot here with dark hair. I love her voice when she speaks before the show starts.

  • Yes, I'm staying in Ann Arbor, at least for now.

  • I borrowed it from the Ann Arbor library on the corner of Nixon and Plymouth. Check your local library if they loan out DVDs, they might have it.

  • Debbie doesn't smoke. Smart girl

  • People do age a lot faster when they smoke. You can even see it in their skin if you look closely. People sometimes look back on it after irreversible damage is done and they think "Gee, I really wish I didn't do that."

  • yes she does lol she does drugs to sweety Debbie is far from innocent.

  • Oh right :S Since when?

  • lol since a lonnng time ago. Shes always been a pretty naughty girl. She had a heroine addicition for a bit then she got over that. Damb shes hot in this btw!

  • Yes, I understand she did heroin, but as far as I know any smoking she did was restricted to movie roles. I guess if the heroin users eat right, use clean equipment and don't OD, they can come out with less long term damage than the smokers. I've been told that tobacco is actually more addictive than heroin. Smoking gets into everything. The lungs, heart, thyroid function, skin, even the bones, joints and spinal discs. 80% of the guys who require disc work are/were smokers.

  • Wow thats pretty crazy!

  • she claims to have never shot up...

  • You are right about smoking being that harmful. And yes, Debbie did say she took heroin but never to the point of ODing or having to go to rehab.

On the other hand, she has been a heavy smoker since high school. Today she still smokes, and not only for movies. She complained about the smoking ban in nyc because she enjoyed going out having a glass of wine and a cigarette. Consequently, her singing voice today is much raspier, she lost the silkiness it once had, which is a shame.

  • Her voice does sound different these days. She can't hit the high notes on Heart of Glass and Rapture anymore. Also notice her neck lately: it's all saggy and wrinkly. Those are signs of heavy smoking.

  • Her voice is still really good though, she does sound different these days more breathier and soft while back in the 70's her voice was more harder and rougher.

  • No doubt she still sounds good. But I prefer the Debbie from the 70's and 80's

  • She really does need to stop smoking. It's very gross and unhealthy. And like you, I like the way her voice sounded more in 1983 than the way it sounds now. I have the two live CD's...some songs she just can't sing anymore. Sounds embarrassing.

  • Dude she has been a smoker since the 60's. Non stop. The only time she tried to stop was in 1991, but she got fat so she kept doing it. She said it herself, and she still smokes. It's the one thing I don't like about her...that and her fascination with someone as mediocre as Chris Stein.

  • She was never a nonstop smoker, stop making up stuff dude and also that mediocre chris stein is responsible for many blondie classics that were responsible for their fame and rock and roll hall of fame induction. Let's see you write a song half as good as his worst song.

  • She HAS SAID IT HERSELF IN MANY INTERVIEWS YOU STUPID MORON. She likes to smoke since high school and you can see pics of herself in the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's holding a freaking cigarette. Get informed! and all the songs Stein wrote that were hits were also written by Harry, not a single song written only by him was a hit. You ignorant fool.

  • @DianaVisitor

Why don't you show us all these pix of her through the decades with a cigarette in her hand?......oh yeah you can't because you're pulling shit out of your ass. Yes she probably smoked but not to the degree you are claiming. You sound like you're one of those guys who don't care of the fact is right or wrong, you just want to be right no matter what. Also I'm aware that Debbie wrote the lyrics but Stein was responsible for the music...that's a huge contribution!

  • wanna see pics of debbie smoking? google "debbie harry". She was even bitching because of the smoking ban in NY bars and clubs since SHE STILL SMOKES. Everyone knows that. And I agree with john and Diana: Chris Stein sucks. You know who had to play the guitar solo in Rapture? Frank Infante! why? because Stein is a lame guitarist. Whatever music Stein "wrote" Chapman re wrote to make it commercially viable. The only members worth something in that band were Infante, Harry and Burke. get over it.

  • Annbeauj, also known as: DianaVisitor and johnjohnb1

You are such a loser! Who in the world has time to create 3 IDs just to bully someone else on youtube like U? Stop writing crap on this board! Debbie PRAISES the smoking ban in NY, not opposes it.

Anyone can easily google this and see an article in which she talks about supporting the smoking ban in NY.

  • @DianaVisitor

AND STOP CALLING ME BAD NAMES. YOU MUST BE INSECURED!

  • The correct word is "insecure". Learn English before you start whining like a sissy. And you started with the insults.

LOL "the song"? so you will admit that Stein only had a small participation in only one of the 4 US number ones that helped them get into the Rock and Roll Hall of fame. And by the way, according to Chapman, both Debbie and Stein came up with the music for Rapture. So shut your mouth before you keep making an idiot out of your self. This argument is over. You lose.

  • @DianaVisitor Ahhh okay, so "Sunday Girl" (written by Chris Stein) wasn't a hit...

  • I agree with everything Diana has just said but I need to add a few things. Blondie was inducted into the RRHOF thanks to these super hits: Heart of glass, Call me, Rapture, and the tide is high. Tide is a cover and Call me was written by Harry and Moroder only. Harry and Stein co-wrote HOG in 1974, and Stein made it in reggae form. The result sucked so the track wasn't included in the first album. It was Chapman whom "fixed it" and turned it into a disco song.

  • (Continued) so Chapman gave Blondie their first mega hit by changing the crap Stein had made four years ago. Chapman repeated the formula with Rapture, also co-written by Harry and Stein. Speaking of Rapture, Stein only wrote the first verses, Harry wrote the rap and the second verses. The reason Blondie became huge was thanks to Harry and Chapman. Stein only played a small part, he said it himself in the Blondie documentary on VH1: "It was Chapman". So get educated before lying like a cretin.

  • and you are right, Chris had a reputation back in the 70's of being the WORSE guitarist in the NY punk scene. The only reason they became famous was thanks to Chapman. Chapman himself said Chris was jealous of Infante because Infante was a better guitarist. Many people advised Debbie to get rid of Chris because he sucked. Besides, if Chris co wrote some of Blondie's hits, it was thanks to Chapman production skills that these songs became huge. In their original form they were weak.

  • just download it, i did, get it off a torrent

  • yeah

  • I saw the movie...it was FREAKY, but much of it has resonated to be the truth over the past few years (the Internet).

  • Its on here but the A/R is off.

  • thank you very much

  • I love Videodrome! Debbie is very sexy in it! Thanks for the clip!
