How long would it take to RENDER a video with PiTiVi? I some simple edits (cut about 20 points from an ogv) and when I hit render, even after 3 hours, it's not finished. It says EIGHT hours to finish. Is this normal or is it some problem. BTW, I'm using Ubuntu 10.10

Pitivi sucks. It isn't evolving, it's useless, you can't output every codec, quality is awful, and the exported video is lagging or hasn't sound... Choose ANY else but not PiTiVi...
@iSrosh128 Finally, I got something going. PiTiVi is DEFINITELY easy out of the many I've tried so far. The problem is that I cannot RENDER my file. It takes like about 4 hours and not even half is done.
Finally, I tried LiVES. Honestly, I don't like it because of the difficult interface. Ok, it's difficult for me :)
Still for all, it did the job in about 30 minutes. The quality is SIMPLY TERRIBLE! I don't have much of a choice here but it still does the job.
But one problem I'm having is that if I grab a few videos from my camera, add them, and put them on the timeline (easy enough) and then render project, it doesn't work in youtube unless you have intimate knowledge of the file structure
I realize it's good for file conversions but for who? .01% of people?
I think it's really cool that ubuntu has a preinstalled video editor. But if a typical user can't get it to render to show in youtube, something's wrong
Very cool video! I'm trying to use pitivi for a really basic video edit from my phone... just having trouble choosing the right encoder to make it not look choppy when its done. I noticed your list of codecs is much longer than mine... did you take any extra steps to get all of those? Also any recommendation on a good format to use for youtube uploads?
Nice video thanks. By the way, what screen recorder did you use? I used to use a script based on ffmpeg but it really slows my system with my 1920x1080 screen resolution so I was wondering if you did anything different.
Hands down, Pitivi is the future of video editing on linux. It is the best and most user friendly video editing software on linux. Pitivi is the best video editor for linux no doubt about it.

what is the best format for HD videos in youtube?
William864 11 months ago
@William864 xvid/h264 in mkv container.
Tru3m0sl3m 11 months ago
@Tru3m0sl3m ok, but is that FFmpeg mkv or the plain mkv muxer? what about audio?
William864 11 months ago
Respond to this video...i think maybe ogg theora with flac is better?
i am trying it
William864 11 months ago
@William864 flac or vorbis audio in ogm/ogv container is fine with theora as the video codec.
