Ha - thought I'd get a response like this! Look...the song's in A major. He's in A mixolydian for the most part, which is fine, but let's take the first verse: 'Oh' and 'Just'. What notes are they? They're out of scale and sound bad to me. I know I'm probably going to get rebuked ("who cares what notes he sings...it's eMOtional, man!") but I'm not convinced he knows he's off-key. Music is not music because he's "singing from the heart and soul". Music is music when is composes well for it's purpose. It can be beautiful, catch, terrifying, atonal - whatever. A well-chosen voice helps a lot too but is definitely secondary (though a bad voice can ruin a well-composed song).

I have become so used to hearing the absolute rubbish that is around now, such as Bieber, Girls aloud, and all the shite from britains got talent etc that it is almost impossible to imagine that music like this could have been produced. What happened? Why the hell is music now such rubbish after we have made such good music like this? Oasis was the last great band standing. Now they have split there are no good bands left. (except perhaps Beady Eye, we dont know how good they will be yet.)
