  • one love, hardware

  • gooooooooood

  • Dude, this is fucking awesome.

  • $200K or More of Analog Bliss! You definitly can get the job done! I Prefer Computer bases now so I can set up anywhere! But I can get down w/ Hardware too!

  • Wow, that is a mess, you should really take a whole day and invest it in cleaning up your workspace.

  • hardware for life... software SUCKS

  • and you still dare to call it " home " studio? :-)

  • wooow!

  • Hiya, i must say i love the set up, i'm more of a hardware man myself as well.

i was just wondering what the brand of power conditioners you are using at the top of your racks.

    Thanks.

  • @sonoffrog I'm using ART conditioners in the rack and trip-lite behind the scene. Thanks for posting.

  • I use to record my drums using a Tascam 8 track reel to reel recorder

  • that, is a crap tone of outboard gear! jelly much!

  • @Zorlak108 Nah...

  • i dont know what 1/2 this is but its still cool nice stdio

  • nice board!

  • jealous of the keys... all of them... I like the Alesis HD24... it replaced my DATs a few years ago...

  • Is this.. heaven?

  • @guitarboy12 No, not heaven, but an electronic mess.

    Peace.

  • Beautiful..

  • @tjleebeats Thank you.

  • wow! ppl rly need all tht stuff to make musik back then? (i started producing in 06 fl6 reason 3 and logic 7-8) great vid!

  • very classic

  • COOl Man

  • Quite nice...this is the real deal...

  • Awesome !!!

  • Wow man you got the top of the line stuff there due!!!!!. I'm old school & new school too also!. And I own 3 casio keyboard, & 1 bass guitar, & 1 electric guitar, & also a 5 star customer rating of the new school tascam 2488 neo 24-track hard disk recorder hooked up to my new jbl monitors studio speaker hear! & It's real real real louder hear too man 24/7!!!!!. And my brother is hateing on me hear & other black people too 24/7! because I buy all of this stuff haer for my own personal studio use!

  • Goa Gil still Djs with DATs also I'm wanting to ditch my CDjs and go full analogue. Thanks for the post you made my drive all the more. Although i am debating to use Ableton strictly for the purposes of looping or samples or what ever like that but still would love be purely analogue. Have any mixers you are willing to donate to such cause? :D

  • OMG!!!! :O This is SO wonderful & scarry at the same time hehe :P Scarry cause... there are so many buttons & wires about which I don't knwo a damn things & it freaks me out because made me realise how MUCH I have to learn yet hahaah :)) But it's damn wonderful! ♥♥♥ I wish my home studio to look like this in few years ^_^ hehe :D Too CooL! ;) :) Congratulations! :)

  • I have some DAT tapes still haha and what is your reel to reel? And that's what, 1/2"?

  • @Downbeat1984 Ahhh yes... The dat recorder. I still backup my music on dat just in case. I still have a working Sony walkman dat machine also. The reel to reel recorders in the clip are 1/4in. I do have an Otari 1/2in I'm restoring though. I'm looking into geting a 2in 24 trk, hopefully soon.

  • @Downbeat1984 hopefully a Studer 800 ahaha

  • One question... Where do you get the money for all of this?

  • @MusicDAnthony One answer... Work, Work, Work. Save, Save, Save.... Rome was not built in a day, neither was my studio.

  • @judgecutioner Amen. it took me months to get mine up to where it is, and im still nowhere near finished. Never stop learning, never stop upgrading lol

  • 2:04 its a good thing thing that marshall is miced

  • The more equipment a musicmaker has, the better! Each instrument has it's own sounds. I just watched the fantastic video of the Rolling Stones "Bridges to Babylon"(1998) and Keith Richards doesn't play neither on the same guitar the whole concert! He has undoubtedly a whole army of fine guitars at home.Greetz.jason

  • Very nice studio! I just placed a video of my studio on You Tube now. I have also much 'crab', but people who make remarks that a little equipment would do, are only jealous. I saw that you have also an Emu Extreme Lead-module, if I have that right? Greetz Jason

  • @turquoisecapricorn You are correct, that is a Emu Extreme Lead, Emu Vintage Keys, Emu Orbit, Emu ESI 2000 Sampler, Novation Base Station, Novation A Station, Kawai XD5 Drum Module. Old stuff, becoming more vintage with each passing year. The Kawai is at least 18 years old, the Emu Vintage Keys is about 17 or more years also. In fact, most of the units I have are at least ten plus years old.

I wouldn't trade them for the world.

Anyway, Thanks for you comment and support.

    Peace.

  • noone NOONE needs so much crap! It looks pretty nice, but to have 4 or 5 keyboards and tons of things I don't even know is so useless... A little easy equip could do it too.

  • @BlueKrock Sure... No one needs so much crap, but it's what I want. Each keyboard has it's own unique features and character. I love the idea of unlimited options. It's not there for the looks, it is simply the tools of the trade.

  • @judgecutioner I agree. People tend to drift towards the "You don't need it all" argument, when in reality, it is YOUR studio. Go to any professional studio and tell me they only have 1 keyboard. They don't, because different boards are made for different situation.

On another note, this is an excellent studio. Mine is computer based, but I just installed a reel to reel and I plan to dive into the vintage techniques. A greater appreciation for the arts of recording, I suppose.

  • @FrenetikBeatz Thanks for posting... Many people don't understand the method to the madness, what I have is definitely not for show. I'm a part time pro, these are the things I require to get the job done.

By the way, you're gonna love the reel to reel. Although they can be a bit quirky if not aligned and calibrated properly. Once you get out all of the kinks, theres nothing like a smooth/warm analog recording.

Thank you for your comment and support,

    Let the music play on.

    Peace.

  • @BlueKrock Yah, I agree. No need for all that equipment. Ive been recording for years, and see no need for all that. I will put a tour of my spot up.

  • @BlueKrock no one NEEDS it but sum ppl WANT it... n its not crap... the guy is oldskool as he mentioned and there's no problem in that...

  • @BlueKrock Some people like it old school man.... its great to have things at the touch of your fingers, rather then a mouse and keyboard.... Some people prefer software and some hardware, if you knew about this trade you'd know that this is a guy who is comfortable the old school way.

  • I don't see why everyone is bashing on this guys studio. It's fucking awesome! I would much rather use hardware than software. I would kill myself if my studio was just a laptop and interface.

  • @asecretninja Thanks for your support. You know what they say, to each his own. These days so many people are so bound to their computers that some forget, or never experienced what it's like to pick up a real instrument or to tweak around with the actual gear. I think that the computer setups are great but being from the old school and all, I'd rather have the real goods. The truth is, I know some older dudes that feel my setup is too new school. Lol!

  • would be great to see you at work with that impressive equipment

  • @lawnelson When I get a chance, I'll attempt to make a video.

    Peace.

  • @judgecutioner Cool! You know what? an extra value of your video is that many people, me at least, had never seen real devices. In fact when I first saw the snap of the vid I thought it was sth like Reason 5. Maybe you could also make some takes of the "real" wiring, not necessarily instructional. Some people just get a kick out of it! Regards.

  • i would kill for this.

    nice tape recorder man.

  • Amzing brO ^_^ thats what i dreamed for to have it also. soon!

  • @UrbanMuzikVEVO If you want it bad enough, anything is possible. You'll get your set soon.

    Peace.

  • should do a indepth on that rack

  • @JSprayaEntertainment I've been meaning to update the video, there has been some changes and additions to the whole setup. I'll post soon.

  • OMG ! WOW! OO How much did it take to buy all that?

  • @ChristineSMTOWN It wasn't over night that's for sure. many of the things I have are over ten or more years old. As far as cost, it's hard to say. I was fortunate to have friends that were managers at places such as Sam Ash, Guitar center, East Village Music (NYC) and a local shop called D&J electronics back in the days. Otherwise, I catch great deals on the net. The key is, never pay full price ! It will break the bank.

  • i have all that shit an much more on my cubase lol :) no stres on my productions

  • @darbits2009 Cubase is ok and all but, ain't nothing like the real thing. I would know, I have Cubase and Logic Pro. I sometimes use them for the final mix mastering. Otherwise... No stress on my production either.

  • Wow this is jus beautiful almost brought a tear to my eye. No lie

  • @KeyoFire1C Thank you.

  • nice to see the octapad kicking about

  • So cool.

  • I have 2 videos posted of a couple of tracks I made... Thanks for your interest.

    Peace.

  • looks cool would love to hear some music? maybe a video of a workflow process would be cool too

  • While its great to see this, the reality is, it can all be done now from a setup thats 10x cheaper, 10x easier and 10x smaller. Shows how far technology has come.

I still love to see these setups though. Very nice setup

  • @stinger15au What you say is true to a degree. Understand that most of the gear you see I had for 10 or more years. Also, although you can achieve many things with newer setups, there is nothing like the real tangible gear. Some of the unique features and tweaks of each unit is what made some of these components great for their time... Some of which are still used today. Anyway, I'm happy with my gear. Although not perfect, it suits my needs just fine. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Peace.

  • @judgecutioner

Im kinda the same. Im a dj and still use turntables & vinyl (albiet mostly with scratchlive timecode)

Your gear must use a bit of power hahaha

I wasnt trying to say upgrade it or that its bad or anything like that, just that with time comes new technology, a new way of doing things. Its still an awesome setup :)

  • OMFFG!!!

  • love the old school.im the same way keep it up thanks for sharing

  • What kind of speaker is that at 2:30 man? The one with the cover off.

  • @MidiJerk The speaker are the KRK Rokit 8's and the speakers on the top of the rack are Alesis Monitor two's.

  • @judgecutioner

How do you like the Krks? I've heard some good as well as some bad things about them, but you seem to have a lot of equipment and know how, nice to see them in there. I have a couple of the 8s as well, liking them so far.

  • @NeverReality I like the krk's, they're pretty accurate and defined. I've tried so many monitors over the years but I find the krk's to cover everything that I need in a monitor. At first I was skeptical of them because of their design concept and price. But when I demoed them I was very impressed with their performance and quality, so I found them online very cheep and jumped on them. Needless to say I'm very satisfied with my purchase.

    Peace.

  • do yourself a favor bro and get rid of everything with the "Behringer" brand on it. I worked for them and the audio quality is shit. Get a RME, a decent channelstrip, youll be impressed with the soundimprovement..

  • holy living fuck

  • My Grandma used to say "To each his own" but i think this is a waste of money & space (not to mention electric bill). i switch to digital and was amazed on what i can do with a computer one keyboard, good speakers and of course software. i also find myself creating more REAL music ( not just beats). the one thing i miss about analog is the sounds from old modules like TG55, U220, JV880 i was able to find proteus 1,2 and 3 software. anyway i wish you good luck in your music creations. peace

  • @bigdaddykurt Hey! I here ya, my setup isn't for everyone. But I come from the old school and feel comfortable with the tangible components. Each unit has it's own unique character and ability. Plus... If my computer zaps out, I'm not dead in the water. I do have computer software and hardware, It has it's benefits no doubt, and sometimes I use it for the finalization process. But, Ain't nothing like the real thing. Anyway, It's all about the music. And that's a good thing. Keep creating.

    Peace.

  • yep

  • Damn! Off the hook! You've got tons of $ in that studio. It's know wonder your completely out of the box! Where can I hear some of your mixes? Very nice! Music is God's drug! Thanks for sharing........oh and how do you like those KRKs? I just picked up a pair of 8's. Peace!

  • @NicroticSouls Sorry for the late reply, and thank you for your comment. There is a rough rack that I posted here on my page that you can check out. It's not complete due to the fact that it has no vocals. I do have many tracks but I just haven't posted them. I can email some mp3s if you'd like. The KRKs sound great and are pretty accurate. They don't colorize the sound, that way you get an accurate mixdown.

    Peace.

  • Holy Fuck this guy might be Fucking loaded with the Doe Wow.

  • Thanks for the effort. I enjoyed this.

  • oh what's that?? oh my d!ck just got hard! UNREAL. I'm building my set up. I'm mainly digital right now, but will be implementing some rack gear(synths) in the near future

  • Thats sooo nice!

  • Wow, very old school I dig the whole setup but all those wires are what get me even with my setup. A Dat or Dat is what I use to use awesome video

  • nice!!

  • nice rack gear

  • i cant imagine unlearning everything i know by computer and trying to learn the actual rack equipment...crazy...

    Respect.

  • damn!!!! now thats a home studio!!! i dont use a computer either..is there any other tips out there for home studios that dont use computers?

  • @7000ironman Sorry for the late reply. To answer your question, just go with what sounds and feels right for you. If it works, go with it. Theres no one formula, I've seen many different setups that were well thought out and inspiring.

  • What computer would you recommend

  • Your electric bill must be insane, heh. Very nice!! Would love to have all that gear!

  • So amazing but SO unorganized. It looks like you got a great set up there man, good stuff

  • is that a dub cutter?

  • Nice to see a fellow non computer based producer/musician on here, i hate computer sequencing and use an MC909 to do all sequencing of my gear, although i use a pc only for recording purposes.

  • @supersoundcrafter Thank you for the comment. Computer recording is great and all, it's just that I'm from the old school so I'm more accustom to working with an actual sequencer. I use the Korg Triton Extreme as my main production unit. I do have a Mac setup in the studio now using Apple's Logic Pro but for mastering and sound tweaking purposes only. I don't use it for all of my recording either. I have to update the video since there has been some changes and new additions to the setup.

  • Goss damn

  • sweeet

  • I AM jealous... -__- lol great studio though man:)

  • Your studio is freakin awesome man. was that a Dr Rhythm i saw. someone gave me on how are the quality of the drums

  • @Poachy20 Thank you for the comment. Actually, the drum machine you see is an old Alesis and a DR groove DR 202.. I do have the DR Rhythm DR 880 but that was after I shot the video. I will be updating the video since there has been changes in my setup recently.

  • Thank you everyone for your comments!

  • That is a fucking monster of a home studio.HOLYSHITFUCK.

  • Mission Control.....

  • Thank you SGwizard1 and to all that commented on my video. I really appreciate it.

  • was just watching tv when the vid started, looked back to the screen and WTF epic studio :)

  • What a fantastic studio.

  • Holy crap, now that is a studio.

  • Very nice studio, but fix those wires please.

  • @103959770979 LOL!... If only.

  • thats NO home recording studio man! that's a studio!

  • Thanx! I am very passionate about my music, It is who I am. I will be updating the video soon since there are a few new additions to my setup. Including a mac running logic pro and cubase studio 5. Like you said, they have there advantages.

  • @judgecutioner Thats allot of shit man LOL.. I would like to hear what your production sounds like do you have anything one could listen too??. to me the sound is more important than the accumulation of things when I see someone showing all the stuff they have I'm always interested in hearing what they do with it and what it sounds like.

  • @Marcusblade No doubt, I don't have any music on the net at the moment, but could send a couple tracks via email if you're cool with that.

  • @judgecutioner cool I would love to hear it man Blade00747@yahoo.com I look forward to hearing your music thanks.

  • I understand the hardware thing ! i like a mixture of both because they both have there advantages ! but nice looking studio ! i can tell your passionate .

  • nice oldschool setup wow you like wires to

you have heaps of volume controls

thanks for sharing have fun peace

  • u have crazy sounds dude

  • nice setup

  • I would hate to see how fast the wheel is spinning on your electric meter.

    Wow.

  • do u have any problem with the breaker triping running so much i had to put in a seperate breaker on mine.

  • @musicman257

Hey! I've installed extra outlets on their own breakers rated at 20 amps, So I can load them up with no overload issues. Plus with power conditioners in-line it keeps the power source free of R.F.I.

  • thumbs up for the old skool setup!! reppin the actual hardware!

  • sweet!

  • What kind of KRK monitors do you have? How they sound to your ears?

  • @neworleansrocks Hey! The KRKs are the 2nd generation Rocket 8's. They are KRK's more affordable line. They kick about 70 to 80 watts of power but I'll tell ya, I've compared them to other monitors of higher value and the rocket 8's did not take a backseat to any of them! So I purchased a pair! No regrets!

  • @judgecutioner: I bet those 8s to kick! I'm looking and liking the RoKit 6 at $200/each new. I'm hoping to find a pair used in my area. The 6s are a little under 70watts which would be more powerful than anything I own.

Are there thread adapters on the bottom of yours or are they just sitting on a stand?

  • @neworleansrocks The 6s sound great also, The rokit series do a great job of telling the truth. I have other monitors in my arsenal but I seem to resort back to the rokits. My rokits are just sitting on the stands, They have a good weight to them so they don't just bounce off.

  • cheers for the vid. really interesting to see the tape machines. which make/models are they?

    cool room, man.

  • Yo!

Sorry for the late reply, The snow storm knocked out my internet service. The Analog tape units are... TASCAM 32, Teac X-10R. The DAT decls are Tascam DA-30mk II, DA-30, DA-40, Panasonic SV-3700, Thanx for the comment.

  • Man you got a really nice home studio! Its rare to see home studios that arent computer based nowadays!

  • Thanx!

Yeah, I do have Cuebase studio 5 and logic pro 8 but there is nothing like having the real thing. Having the actual knobs, buttons and sliders at your fingertips for tweaking allows me to be more creative, Although the wiring gets to be a little tedious.

  • SHIT MAN!!!!!! that is probably the nicest studio i have seen on youtube!!! your keepin in old school and it looks like a very expensive setup!!!!!!!! do you charge for your studio time?

  • Thanks for the comment. I've never charged for studio time, My wife says I'm a knuckle head just because. I just love doing music so I'm happy to help people when I can.

  • Thanks for the comment! The rack was a concept of a friend and I, My friend is a carpenter so the rest is history.

  • It's always good to have friends :D, im soon gonna put up my own videos of my 2x2 studio :), it sounds small but it works out really good. /Martin, Sweden

  • Hey remember, It's not what you got but how you use it. Some of my best recordings were produced from a room not much bigger than a broom closet.

  • true :)

  • Really nice studio! the rack is F***ing awesome!
