@2004wjc Sure it's a lesson! If you want a BEGINNER lesson, there are plenty of other videos of people HACKING this tune. This is the video I used because this is how the song is REALLY played. Watch part 2 & 3.., then tell us it's not a lesson.
OMG!!!!!....i can't believe i found this video....Tom Landy was my guitar teacher in the late seventies...found him through a music store in milpitas, i believe, and was surprised to find out he taught mostly Zep tunes...he told me, if you can play Led Zeppelin, you can play anything....and he was so right.....i still have the papers he gave me with complicated scales to practice every day on guitar....
so happy to see him here, doing his thing.....thank you!
Sounds good, but not accurate compared to the original nor the way Jimmy played it live. I recommend watching the "virtual zeppelin" version of this song get the right chords as well as the solos. No offense to the poster of this video, it sounds good even though you're playing it different than zep.
Dude, Sir, you know "whatever" you really play nice and I love your Tele. You are so smooth and natural I believe I can learn from you. Thanks so much, Adam :)
@TheGriff1958 Same here with me and I'm nearing 49. This man is playing from the heart and that's why it looks so easy and learn able. Plus his Telecaster is way cool :) Actually, he's pretty cool also :)
Hey I'v been playing for awhile and I'v seen alot of youtube teachers and players and Tom has a great hand....he playes really clean with a nice tone and a soft touch but its not muffled. NICE!
nice telecaster, but there are some parts jimmy plays differently then you like after the intro, because from what i learned im pretty sure is right, not to be mean or anything
Wow. I like the way he plays it, a bit different from the original. Which is great, in a way he made it his own. I'm trying so hard to learn this song, but it's sorta hard without two guitars.
great job...i played this song for a girl in 88 and she started kissing me.... i kissed her back. the rest is history....

Nice playing! But not much of lesson at all. Just change the title to COVER.
2004wjc 10 months ago
@2004wjc WHY? did you think Tom Landry was apart of Led Zeppelin. I think the title sufficed.

Great job man. I remember you playing at Steinbeck Jr. High in San Jose back in the late 70's. You had a red Gibson double neck like Jimmy's.

That is so cool. I'm not Tom but I will be sure he get's your message. Stay tuned for (hopefully) more Tom Landry videos. Thanks for commenting!
