@Sperrine08 : Yup. Original. A lot of folks shave the flywheel and put a V8 pressure plate, but this baby is all original. I did this little "one Cylinder" trick on my video "Jambalaya With a 1929 Model A Ford" video, and used it to keep time!
I bought a 1931 Model A Ford Pickup in 1943 I paid $10 for it, the same color as yours. It was a great running vehicle, your pickup brought some good memories back.
I remember the Model A back in the 30s. During the Dirty 30s and the Depression Dad had a Model A pickup. You didn't need spark plug wires to run, any type of wore will run them.
@MrCraig1930: That isn't really barbed wire. I took some barbs off of some barbed wire, twisted up some thick copper wire and stuck the barbs on there as I twisted the wire! After the copper oxidized, they started to look more like real old rusty barb wire!
One time, I was adjusting the points, and when I took the wires off, one of the spark plug wires broke, so I just twisted wire to work. It worked just fine! They don't make them like that anymore!
Tex I just want you to know these old cars did not have collapsible steering columns. So if you get hit by another car in your Model A the steering wheel will drive through your face. You can see the you tube video of a collision between a Toyota Tundra pickup and a Model A sedan.
Runnin on one cylider and it has a lot of power 2. U gotta wunder why the doofus ford made the engine 4 cylinders. Model a fords are know as baby lincolns foor some reason. View the video crash test ford
@fattony252 - Well... there ain't a whole lot of horsepower when it's runnin on one cylinder, but I challenge anybody with a modern 4 cylinder car to see if they can run it on one cylinder!!!
You MUST do some more videos!!....Just revisited this one again and had as much fun watching this as the first viewing! This video should be up over a hundred thousand hits now on YOU Tube here. Model A Ford Owners: Lets get out there promote this famous celebrity actor.."timing his Model A"?? We hope for more videos... I think I am going to go brush my teeth AGAIN!...SERIOUSLY!!
@lclaughton - If you liked this one, then you'd probably like "Jambalaya with my 1929 Model A Ford" that's on my videos as well. I also have a video on there of my '29 pickup towing my '30 fordoor sedan.
I did not get as much from this video as I expected but, I did get a laugh. You must do something about that barbed wire and while you are at it, I know a great dentist! But, he costs more than the Model A. Model A with a loose old engines are famous for being faster then those with new rebuilt engine. I have seen first hand examples of this..Hope you get the RUST under control on that nice little tudor. Thanks for the video! I think I am going to go brush my teeth now SERIOUSLY!
thats one heavy flywheel to let the engine run on one cylinder.
