I remember the first time I heard this particular version of this song during my second year in college- being a Dead fan I instantly recognized the tune and the band, but when I heard the sax (being a Sting fan) I did a Scooby Doo "aarooo??" and instantly wondered if it was Branford in some holy musical Voltron of awesomeness. I bought the album immediately, and approximately eight million listens later I still get goosebumps to this day listening to the swirling melodies. Thanks for uploading.
WooHoo. Love this concert. Talk about amazing. Has Branford been playing with them since the beginning? Of course not. But he could have fooled me!!! The band sounds great. I remember the first time I heard this show in its entirety. Those who were there sure saw a extra, extra special show that night!!
1990 was a memorable year, mostly because of Brent's death. The band had hit another peak and was playing as well as ever. Thursday nights at Nassau Coliseum were always extra special.
31 minutes of music that changed my life...the sound, the soul, that sizzle. this video is proof positive that branford is amazing, even with the grateful dead...but jerry YOU are the man!
we actually knew we were seeing something special in that place that night....thanks for the gift...stumbling upon all sorts of footage from old shows tonight. miss all of this sometimes.
This video is an absolute dream come true. Ive listened to this version of EYES from the Without A Net album so many times. I still think it is perfect. So to have an actual video of this song is so great.... It actually brings tears to my EYES.
I would sure love a copy of this to listen to in my mp3 player or.. Stereo. A very good friend of mine Passed recently, and I just found out. I am memorializing him with some good live toons. If anyone (east coast or west, as he attended shows on both coasts) remembers the Name erik stortoen, you may be able to relate
This is by far the most awesome performance by the dead that i have ever seen! I've seen them 14 times, the first of which was DesMoinse IA in 71. I don't know what it is with this particular group but the chemistry (teehee) is outstanding. This particular concert occured on my birthday (36th). So to eveyone i say break out whatever gets you off and sit back and love on this beautiful music.
words can not describe the feeling this song gives me. i have been listening to this specific eyes from this show for years now. Always wondering if a video existed to capture this beautiful performance has finally been answered. Thank you for uploading this :-)
@Steezeandmac --- this Eyes version is on "Without a Net", pretty good, rare album. features a heavy dose of Brent backup vocals and an Althea where Brent is very prominent.
after seeing father marsalis in concert last weekend(third member ive seen of the marsalis family) they are INCREDIBLY talented - Branford just kills it throughout this entire second set - great show.
100 level seating and perfect angle to the stage at nassau. branford seemed like he had been with the boys for years. One hell of a show that I almost didn't make 'cause my brakes failed on my car right on hempstead turnpike.
Thank you for posting. My all time favorite recorded GD song (and believe me, that's saying a lot). It is perfect in all respects. I never tire of hearing this version. Great version to listen to anytime especially in driving in the summertime with the windows down. -Pat
Been waiting for someone to get this up on youtube! Mad awesome! Jerry said how the presence of guest musicians always made him wanna "step up." Truly shows here, man! Thanks!
Phil is on fire during this whole video!

This is one of the best contemporary versions of this song, not just because of Branford either, they are tight, relaxed, and together.
