The truth shall set you free...from what you ask? Religion my friend. A prison inside of our minds. Invisible bars welded together with bible verses and threats from the almighty. The almighty king James lol. And the other religions are just like this one. BS
I love Ingersoll, but this video was just too much to handle. As in too much of your monotone voice. You remind me of several teachers I had in college.I think too many people fall in love with hearing themselves talk, and not enought people fall in love with listening. I try to find a good balance. Anyways, thank you for your effort, but it was waaaay too long, no color, too dry, and if you want to reach today's generation, you're gonna have to approach things differently.
Since you turned me on to RGI I have shared his works with many friends and they are as surprised as I was to find such a provocative speaker in the 19th century.
I found Ingersoll's works through another YouTuber, 3vid3nce. I have many different books from Ingersoll now, and from time to time, enjoy listening to your readings of "The Gods"
Largo, If you can suggest any other similar books, not by Ingersoll, I would very much appreciate a message from you.
I found another video where somebody read straight from ingersoll.. got straight to the meat, just ingersoll's words...:"the mistakes of moses part 1". I must say, it didn't seem to get to the meat of identifying "mistakes of moses", but it was entertaining and it was ingersoll's words!
I guess eventually you get to his thoughts.. But I would've fallen asleep by that time. Why have you put this in 10min parts anyway.. youtube ltes you put longer clips on. And write how many parts there are like 1/4 or whatever in the title..not that i'm gonna listen..
I couldn't even relax and listen to this.. I actually had to get out of bed to shut you up. I guess you info is good in text form. But it's WAY too boring and inappropriate for a video. You even mentioned an address or something in the video.. Just put useful reference information like that in text. You boring prat. I had to get out of bed to shut you up...
@jameshanley40 Sorry to have interrupted your sleep. It's funny, though, people with short attention spans usually like books on tape, because they don't have to read all those hard words themselves. I guess you won't be seeing the rest of the series, hmmmmm?
you titled this "the gods".. I was expecting some hard hitting arguments from ingersoll. And you're not going straight into that.. It's good for a fan of ingersoll.
This was something somebody may want to open notepad for.. from the little I listened to. It does sound like good information for somebody wanting to know about ingersoll , very logically organized..
Starting with where to find the information. That's good.. But not clear from the title or the length of this video. The title was entertaining and you video isn't. It was boring. Only useful for somebody willing to take notes and wait a long time before hearing anything of ingersoll if at all.
@jameshanley40 It appears that you still don't know that this video and the several that followed it were a reading of one of Ingersoll's lectures. A lot of people have stuck it out and actually liked hearing the lecture presented in this way. Sorry you were not one of them. But I haven't called you a jerk just because you didn't like my video. Henceforth, just go someplace else to be entertained.
@jameshanley40 Key words here are "what little I listened to" .
How can you judge something you haven't even listened to? You show your bias right from the door. I think the reason you have your panties in a bunch is because you disagree with what you are hearing. If that's so, then attack the message not the messenger. Personally attacking Largo shows your maturity level or lack thereof.
When people resort to ad hominem attacks, it shows they are unable to refute the facts being presented.
You boring jerk.. I went to play your rubbish video, I lay down.. expecting to listen to hear his philosophy.. And I had to listen to you rambling on with your rubbish about how you went to a library and an address you can hear him.. and NOTHING about his actual arguments.. I wanted a summary..
Too true re: difficulty locating anything by Ingersoll at one's local library. I had to get(i.e. purchase O_o) a visitor's membership to the nearby university library in order to find anything written either by him or ABOUT him. Load of dingo's kidneys, imho.
You can't find nothing about Ingersoll in the United States libraries? And still You evade countries promesing democracy and free speech. How ironic? By the way great video.
In some counties in the US there is a conservative ethos that apparently causes them to leave certain things out of their libraries. Not the whole country, just some conservative counties. In libraries in Los Angeles County, I found the entire twelve volumes of Ingersoll's lectures, speeches and writings. In Orange and San Bernardino Counties libraries it was as if Ingersoll never existed. The material found in a library is a reflection of how generally liberal or conservative a region is.
Rushing? Maybe, but I don't think so. I don't need a wig. The hair still grows. I just keep it buzzed because I can do that myself and I can't afford barbers.
Do you have anything to say about the content? Or don't you understand the content?
Listening to your Ingersoll videos has been on my To Do list since you started posting them nearly a week ago. I'm finally getting to them today---great job, and thanks for posting these. Ingersoll was an amazing writer, and deserves a far wider audience.
Thank you Largo, I enjoy learning from you videos just wish they could be longer than 10 min. Your presentation of the materials you share with us youtubers is just GREAT!
For anyone who is interested in more of Robert Ingersoll's works, just go to infidels . org and do a search for his name "ROBERT INGERSOLL". The first link lists more than 30 essays and letters of Ingersolls, which enumerates his ideas on free thought. You have to admire a man who was willing to vocalize such thoughts in a time when religious ideas held such dominance in the public square.
Ingersoll was also one of my earlier influences on my road away from religious dogma towards rationalism. You have to admire the man's erudition and his eloquence. I can't really think of any man today that can match him. I especially relish his long written exchange with Cardinal Manning (entitled Rome or Reason), where he decimates Manning's argument about the divine nature of the Roman Catholic Church. It was a perfect example of good free thought polemic.

Nick Gisburne did an hour long reading that went fine. I think the fact that it only had the one image matters. Just sit there saying "the Gods"
Not sure why but the whole thing goes up. Though I can't find it on Gisburne's original page.

@Tatarize Nick has a great voice. His reading was probably better than mine.
