  • the only reason i watched this film was for its intense battle and action scenes and good acting by Gerard Butler. i did not watch this for historical reasons and i don't believe the film is so anyway, being that his is generally written by the victors. Seeing as my European ancestors were running around in forests and picking their noses at the time, it is not in my position to criticize either the Persians or the Greeks.

  • Actually, 299 fought. Leonidas sent one spartan home to tell the news that the rest had died to spare the greeks and Sparta. Yet, the people of sparta blamed Dillo (something like that,) the returning soldier, for their defeat and death of Leonidas's army. Dillo died honorable in order to gain the respect of his people in a future battle.

  • @GeneralVert31 Yeah, that's the guy who lost an eye and i believe he's the one who leads the Battle at Plataea

  • @GeneralVert31 Actually they were 299 spartans... with some other greeks ppl. but as this was inspired on the comic it was just the 299 spartans.

  • from 1:08 to 1:13 leonidas has that badass lunatic look on him

  • RAMIREZ. TAKE OUT THAT PERSIAN ARMY

  • a MARINE is a modern day spartan

  • @jt833owns not even close, more like a Marine SEAL Israeli Commando Abrams Tank Hybrid bionic robot soldier, even that's and understatement

  • @Lucasbabucas5000 yeah i hear you haha

  • 940, IT IS SPELLED MARINE not marine!!!!!

  • Spartans fought to defend glory and honor just like the marines do

  • @940matthew You're a fucking idiot.

  • Now u listen here we Spartans no no fear unlike u Persians we fought to defend what real people know is honor and glory on the battlefield leonidas did right!!!

  • I just wish they made a historic movie!!!

    Dammit!!

  • I just realized the Marines are a lot like the Spartans, "Never surrender. Never retreat." Also their battle cry, "Hoowah," against, "Ha-oo, ha-oo." Anyone agree?

  • @Hinasil The battle cry is an add from Hollywood.

  • "idk man...look at leonidus's eyes...i think hes lost it"

"yeah fuck this im going with the bald guy"

  • @samesauce09 pussy lol

  • Chuck Norris approves of this.

  • Funny how the media makes people always think who was teh baddest mf'ers in the day..when last samurai came out everyone was samurai this and samurai that and when 300 came out fanbots jumped to them

Now if they made a My little pony vs a massive army people would jump that bandwagon

  • @keenmachine80 Yeah but the Spartans really were badasses. pretty much everybody acknowledged them as the best.

  • shame that nowadays greeks are such fucking usseless pussys.

  • Comment removed

  • that ugly one eyed hunchback of sparta traitor!

  • "no retreat, no surrender. that is spartan law. AND BY SPARTAN LAW, WE WILL STAND AND FIGHT... and die!

a new age has begun. AN AGE OF FREEDOM! AND ALL WILL KNOW THAT 300 SPARTANS GAVE THEIR LAST BREATH TO DEFEND IT!!" - "AROO, AROO, AROO!!"

this is one of the best scenes in the entire movie!

  • Yet Sparta is far more arbitrary than Persians, that's why they won

  • there is nothing greater to be achieved than to die a glorious death on the battle field

  • You all seem to know our history very well. All i know is that you are jealous that u never won a 300.000 vs 1.000.000 battle

  • Thank god for the heathen Greeks I'd rather not be a Muslim extremist XD

  • AROO! AROO! AROO!

  • hardly my lord, its just an eye. gota love that line

  • if it weren't for the greeks that stood their ground at thermopylae, persia would have conquered greece and destroyed rome while it was still a fledgling nation, and the world we live in today would have been very different. so thank the brave greeks that stood at the hot gates, and stared death in the eyes to protect their own nation, and unknowingly, protecting ours.

  • @TheRealTingAling yea, and if rome hadnt been created, they would have never destroyed greece.

  • @TheRealTingAling lol actually greeks didnt do as much as you think, the Persians ate themselves up, the greeks just cleaned up what was left of them

  • @TheRealTingAling you can predict the future now? lol im just saying who knows what the future would of evolved into. the greeks were not good people by a long shot either their culture and history proves that.

  • @PoliticallyEndcorrec your right the men liked little boys...pedastry ring a bell?...lol

  • @PoliticallyEndcorrec They gave birth to democracy, I'd say that was a pretty good contribution to human civilization.

  • @TheRealTingAling couldnt have said it better myself :D

  • @TheRealTingAling Just want to point out that if those greeks were still around many of the ill and malformed people would not have been alive!

  • @jzd4rma You know in reality the spartans didn't discard "sickly" or "malformed" babies, only in this movie. They said in the real 300 documentary on history that they haven't found any large concentration of baby skeletons in the area they occupied.

  • @nsaucier1988 Indeed they didn't, they used to give them to slaves to raise them instead but they didn't go through the training and education like the rest of their children.

  • @painofsalvation80 True, they certainly wouldn't have gotten the parenting of the year award, but I suppose being raised by slaves is better than getting discarded lol

  • @TheRealTingAling Actually no. If the Persians did win, Global Warming, World War II and America would never happen, we would also all get Jet bikes. So fuck you Spartans for ruining the future.

  • @TheRealTingAling And if the 300 resurected today they would relize that their effort to save europe was for nothing, since the spartans future grand children are nothing more than fat couch potatoes who are passivly standingby while hordes of muslims takes over Europe.

  • @Nefus1988 yay ignorance.

  • @TheRealTingAling Perhaps the world would have been a better place, maybe we should despise them :-)

  • @TheRealTingAling That's taking the speculation a little far isnt it?

  • @TheRealTingAling lol @ you thinking that the persians portrayed in this movie are actually real life persians. and if the persians did win whats to say that it wouldnt of been a better place? you cant just speculate and say the world would of turned to shit if persia won, unless it happend then and there you cant say anything about it

  • wow no dislikes cause its so awsome

  • PREPARE FOR GLORY

  • "i trust that scratch hasnt made you useless" "hardly my lord its just and EYE.....prick"

  • @redhaisee it meant alot more to be a man then, taking care of your kids wasnt considered your duty.. it was your responsibility... man up

  • @rpmorte7215 agreed i was simply joking about the tone he used

  • it ruins the whole thing without epic music

  • 1:30 after those words, it made me think of a quote from Halo: Reach. "Spartans never die. They're just missing in action."

  • opoios pragmatika gnwrizh thn filosofia twn lakedaimoniwn syghnite apo thn aytaparnish aytwn twn hrwon

  • SPARTANS

    PREPARE FOR GLORY

  • 16 people are true spartans!

  • 2:31 and than we will die (whit smile )

  • Well that's an easy choice for us, Arcadian!
