Raimondi è veramente il migliore in circolazione. Quanto ad Alagna/Cavaradossi la sua voce è degenerata drasticamente. Recentemente ancora di più. Farebbe meglio a ritirarsi.
Unlike some people here who think this version is not good in a cinematic way, I have to say this is a great version and I think it's very well directed, the lack of ornaments, furniture and even walls (replaced with a black background) is a very smart choice since the spectator can really focus on what's going on in the plot and of course, the music, we only see what we need to see, nothing else and that's what makes this version so intense in some way.
Raimondi is brilliant here. The maturity of his older voice underscores his legendary command. The production may be unorthodox, but Raimondi makes this irrelevant.
In my opinion Scarpia show`s all the time that he is the "boss" there and Spoletta is just a humble servant ( kinda dog, Scarpia is dominating him even with a look and Spoletta is aware of this. The production is marvelous and Angela too...even is not the perfect role for her voice she is a real Tosca...jealous, strong, in love...a really feline...
Raimondi is in good voice, and makes for a menacing Scarpia. However, it is impossible to understand what Pappano was trying to do with the direction - painfully static (and what was with the flirtatious hair touching of Spoletta by Scarpia?).
Scarpia = TITO GOBBI.

I give ten Alagnas for a single Raimondi. Compare singing,acting, and,yes,appeal....

Well, the well-done bad guy will always be better then the well-done hero. The problem here is simply. that Alagna's acting stinks.

I didn't like Fantini so much in Zürich BUT as well Raimondi (he WAS Scarpia) and Marcelo Alvarez were great!!!

Bravo, RR! And BOO for the Director! This palace seems quite an empty place... Not much furniture, no even walls.
The older Raimondi become the better he performes this part.

Thank you for posting this--I haven't had the chance to see the film. These singers are all born film actors. I hope you post more segments.
