@GomerSexual ya and on TSHF too ;) he might have lasted longer (during the 80s) if his addiction wasn't so bad...he was pawning off a lot of the band's gear and could never play until he got high (neither could the rest of the band, to be fair :p )
he must have pretty light gauge strings, being able to bend like this with thumb behind the neck, not over it. and he still has that full tone, interesting.
@3manytoasters thanks for the information. with a les paul the tension should be similar to 9's on a strat, which makes it doable, nevertheless - he has an outstanding technique.

Dave asked Chris to be his guitar teacher. True story. He is one of my very favorite players and I'm grateful that he's still around after the drug years.
First off, IMHO Chris P., Gar, Dave Jr., Dave M. ARE Megadeth. That lineup will never be surpassed, too bad drugs and ego's destroyed their true destiny. He injured his index finger while he was young so it couldnt curl pass certain degree, that is why it looks frozen but to his adventage, it can stretch wider than normal.
@ninjajo11 It was meant to be a joke since so many comments on this video argue about whether or not Chris is a jazz guitarist or just a rock guitarist. If you didn't realize that I was being sarcastic then I feel really bad for you.
Chris Poland is a Great great player and composer. Funny that he talks about Jan Hammer, it's that twisty bend thing that makes him unique..yes all the way back to the MD days.. I hear Jeff Beck in his playing, a little Holdsworth with the Chorus saturated suspensions... True art!
@daw162 He plays because it's dinked. When he was young some kid took something from him and chris ran after him, the kid went into the school and chris ran up to catch the door and his hand went through the glass and cut his index finger tendon.
@beano1eye You stupid shit, no matter what he calls himself, he is LABELED A JAZZ/JAZZ FUSION guitar player. You are fucking stupid. Please reply to my comments, I want more people to see how stupid you are.
@DimitriVHefley yeah labeled by fucking dumbass cretins like you, dumb fucks like you see someone called/labeled something and you fuckers instantly categorize them as that, oh guitar people say he this so I better call him that, get an open mind you douche!
@beano1eye You are fucking stupid buddy. I'm a cretin? Do you even play an instrument? Do you even know what jazz or jazz fusion is? Poland played for a Jazz/Jazz Fusion band...guess what that makes him...A FUCKING JAZZ/JAZZ FUSION GUITAR PLAYER! You need to get an education before you post anything.
@DimitriVHefley I've been playing longer than you've been alive, I can see what I'm dealing with here, you're a fan boy that sits in his bedroom and plays Megadeth, badly I might add, ever compose your own stuff, no I bet you don't have the creativity. Hey I think Chris might be a jazz groovecore player, start calling him that now shall we? enjoying your comments keep em coming, have a nice day :)
@beano1eye You've been playing longer than me and have no uploads of your own. LOL, you're a fake piece of shit, and yes I do indeed compose my own music I'm working on an album right now. He is a jazz/jazz fusion player. His band OHM is a JAZZ FUSION BAND!!! God damn you're fucking pathetic, how long have you been alive? Fifteen years? You can play a G chord? Congratulations, you are a moron. And I guess all of the music community are cretins as well, for labeling Chris a Jazz player...right?
@beano1eye Yeah, this coming from a guy with no videos of himself playing the guitar, and not even understanding the Chris Poland is in fact a Jazz/Jazz Fusion guitar player. LOL. Grow up little boy.
@DimitriVHefley haha love it bedroom boy! I wonder if your mother and father are frivolous aswell, damn genetics really are such a disadvantage for your kind!
@beano1eye Yes, my genetics play a key roll in intelligence, something you have no clue about. Don't even get me started on talent, which you have none.
@DimitriVHefley Arguing on Youtube about whether or not you're better at guitar than someone else is unbelievably ridiculous, not even more professional guitarists are that arrogant and they are a tenfold above you in skill, as well as modesty. If you have any intention on actually making it somewhere with your music, you really need to learn that it's not a competition. Coming on youtube to boost your guitar playing ego certainly won't help you get anywhere, I promise you that.
@ShowNoMercy502 You must not of read my posts, I did not originally intend to boast about my skills, they are plain as day for everyone and anyone to see. What pisses me off is people like you, who come on here and start preaching to me about dumb bullshit, when you yourself have no videos, nothing, you have a picture of you holding a guitar. It really doesn't prove anything. I'm no on here to compete with anyone, just put them in their place. You need to learn yours.
@DimitriVHefley That's not even me holding the guitar you halfwit, it's one of my influences. Videos will come when my band finishes recording, I feel no need to sit around in my bedroom making videos of my showing off my skills covering other band's songs just to impress people like you. I don't care how this debate started, the point is it ends with you being an arrogant jackass trying to belittle others just to convince yourself that you're some phenomenal guitarist. It's absurd.
@ShowNoMercy502 Yes, it's absurd for me to argue with some random person on youtube..absurd I say.... Dude, just shut the fuck up, I couldn't care less for your excuses, I doubt you have any talent or you wouldn't be saying shit to me. And if you want to prove me wrong, and show me how much more informed and talented you are on the guitar then I'll wait for that day. Until then, just keep your poser mouth shut.
@DimitriVHefley Poser mouth eh? What are you dude, 14? You're a shining example of everything that's wrong with guitarists these days, you spend hours in your room practicing which is admirable I admit, but then you bitch and moan about how nobody's as good as you, completely missing the point of playing music in the first place. Get over yourself dude, if you have to belittle others to try and justify your skills then you're doing something wrong. It's not a competition you halfwit.
@ShowNoMercy502 The only reason I even post covers of songs is to prove Metallica fanbitches wrong. They know nothing of the composition skills of Friedman and the extreme difficulty of the rhythms that Mustaine writes. Yeah, I post some of my own improvisational things on here just in case someone wants to say that I can't play. I have the proof I can play and I know what I'm doing. I never sit in my room all day and practice, I play an hour or two a week and that's fuckin it. It's all talent.
@DimitriVHefley Again, that arrogance will get you nowhere. It's all talent? Well good for you, it comes easier for some people than it does others, but that smug 'I'm better than everyone' attitude will just turn people away. You're not bad, but you're not great either; put down the ego and actually focus on the music instead of trying to prove you're better than everyone else and you'll improve immensely. This isn't an attack, this is advice; It would be wise to take it seriously.
@ShowNoMercy502 Take advice from someone who A: Tells me that arguing with people on youtube is idiotic, then proceeds to do so, B: Has no proof that he/she is a better, more knowledgeable player than I, C: Tells me I'm arrogant and smug, and at the same time justify his/her advice giving because he/she thinks he/she has more morals than me. Dude, you're a hypocrite. I don't care whether I'm better than anyone or not. When some dipshit wants to argue with me, I can proof my point. You cannot.
@DimitriVHefley Prove a point? All you've been doing is pulling the "WELL YOU DON'T HAVE VIDEOS SO YOU MUST SUCK" card, how's that proving a point? Victory through omission? lolrite. Also great reading comprehension skills, I stated that arguing over whether or not you're more skilled than someone else on youtube is ridiculous. I'm not claiming I'm better nor worse than you, everyone has a particular style, but clearly you don't understand music very well since you don't seem to get that.
@ShowNoMercy502 Lol ok, yeah I don't understand styles...even though I clearly have my own. And uh, go back, read my posts, when did I EVER say you suck? I never assume anything, you could be better than me, and I wouldn't give a fuck. The points I always end up having to prove are these: I can play just about anything, I'm better than the average Joe at playing, Megadeth is better than Metallica. And here you go, saying that I don't understand music. See, just proving another point, hypocrite.
@DimitriVHefley Understanding music does not lie solely in it's theoretical implications. You have the wrong attitude about it all, and that's what you don't seem to understand. Hell, I betcha if you were to get ahold of Marty Friedman or someone else who's made it, they would tell you the exact same thing I am. It's not a competition, yet you treat it as if it is. You said I probably suck, and you implied that my opinion is of no worth simply because I don't have any videos up, horrible logic.
@DimitriVHefley Oh, and for the record; everyone has their own style. Whether or not it's original is a different question, but 'I HAVE MY OWN STYLE SO CLEARLY I UNDERSTAND THEM' isn't exactly a valid argument.
All I'm saying is the ego isn't going to get you anywhere, and many musicians far more successful than you and I would tell you the exact same thing if they could. You can deny it all you want, but you know this to be true.
@ShowNoMercy502 Half of all musicians have a huge ego, it comes with the talent. This isn't a competition, but uh guess what, if you want to prove your valor you have to (you guessed it) PLAY IN GUITAR COMPETITIONS/BAND COMPETITIONS! It may not be about competition strictly among guitarists, but in the long run it is. Marty Friedman is crazy at this point and has lost a lot of his gusto over the years. Chris Poland is my biggest influence right now, that was my point before you butted in.
@DimitriVHefley Many musicians have a big ego, I will certainly give you that; but unfortunately those are more often just the ones who can justify it. Axl Rose, Slash, Mustaine, just to name three of the more popular and well-known examples; but they're acquired their fame, and it got to their heads. In most cases, modesty is respected far more than sheer self-importance. Believe it or not, ego definitely affects how you come across to those who matter, i.e. Record execs, promoters, etc.
@ShowNoMercy502 I think Dave Mustaine has every right to be cocky, he does care for his fans and is a changed man. You do realize Metallica ripped him off and he made a better band practically by himself. I don't go around flaunting my abilities UNLESS someone contests me to do so. I only state what I know and do my best to prove it. That is all.
@DimitriVHefley Cocky, yes; but to act like an arrogant jackass? Definitely not. Mustaine takes the people around him for granted, yes he's been wronged and he became a gigantic success despite all the setbacks he had to face. Nothing but the utmost respect for his achievements and accomplishments, but look at how he treats the people he works with. He back talks them almost constantly, there's almost always a new Feud with Megadeth, and frankly it's not doing them a whole lot of good.
@ShowNoMercy502 Megadeth is still alive and kicking, that's all that matters, and it is because of Dave. Will Megadeth ever write another masterpiece like Peace Sells? Or Rust in Peace? Unlikely, but they are still out there.
@DimitriVHefley Yes they are, but they're rehashing old material now; it seems Dave lost his creative spark, is that really that much of a victory?
And I never said you were shit, just that you overplay your skills. I think every guitarist needs a shred of self-loathing in himself because that's what fuels them to constantly improve. I don't know you well, I'll admit that, but it seems to me like you've come to a halt because you think you accomplished it all and come here to try&prove it to us
@ShowNoMercy502 Haha, not in the least, I have a million miles to go, but to anyone who thinks I am shit, or don't know what I'm doing, they can see for themselves. I really don't think Megadeth is rehashing anything, Metallica has that covered. Is the new Megadeth album good? Yes. Is it great? Eh it's ok. I think The System Has Failed is the greatest metal alum since Countdown to Extinction. No matter, things are how they are, and your perceptions are just that, yours.
@DimitriVHefley Well then, I'm glad you admit that. You gave off a completely different vibe before so I apologize for my hostility.
I feel like Endgame is really rehashing a lot of material, I'm hearing riffs that sound like slight variations of riffs he's written in the past. Not to mention I don't think Broderick is a good fit for them, skilled for sure but not 'Megadeth' material. I agree that TSHF is fantastic though, and I was fond of UA but I notice they've been consistently slipping
@ShowNoMercy502 Well when you think about it, of course the riffs are gonna sound similar seeing as how they are coming from the same person. I completely agree about Broderick, the guy is talented as all hell, and covers Friedman's solos better than anyone I've ever seen, but, he does no fit Megadeth. UA was good too, it had it's moments, and I like Glenn Drover's style, he was an odd fit to Megadeth as well. Friedman and Poland can't be replaced.
@DimitriVHefley Oh similarity is to be expected, but it sounds like he's completely lost his creativity. I think he needs to take some time away from writing to rediscover himself as a musician because the material he's been releasing has been less creative and less inspired than he's capable of. As for Glen, I personally thought he fit well because of how much he reminded me of Marty. They both had that fluid and smooth approach to their leads, though Friedman was obviously the better fit
@DimitriVHefley I also don't agree that one needs to compete or perform in competitions to prove themselves. To me, songwriting and a good attitude always stood above how skilled you were and whether you could prove yourselves. In my city, arrogance runs high, comes with the Hardcore/Deathcore scene and I know some promoters and label representatives around here, and they want NOTHING to do with these people for their egos. It does have an impact, it just makes things harder in the long run.
@ShowNoMercy502 I live in Albuquerque New Mexico, it's all about this shitty deathcore crap here, it isn't about the talent, it's about that attitude and facade of metal, not the music itself. Regardless of how you see me on youtube, or want to put down my abilities, I do know more than what you'd think. People steal music around here all the time, the music industry is fucked up, and the only way to prove yourself here is by making a name out shredding people in bars and competitions. Trust me.
@DimitriVHefley Maybe you're right, and I admit I wouldn't know how things work over there; but I do know how things will work when you branch out, and that's when this kind of thing comes in handy. I know people in the business, locally and outside of the local scene; I know people who have 'made' it and believe me, they didn't do so by proving they're better than anyone but rather by consistently making good music (duh) and being easy to work with, yet knowledgeable about the business.
but if that's what it takes to be noticed there, by all means do whatever it takes. I just don't see why it needs to extend onto the internet, the internet is becoming more of a tool for discovery than before so you never know who might be watching your videos or listening to your music. But I can guarantee 9 times out of 10 they'll be put off by this attitude, you're good at what you do don't get me wrong, but I don't see the attitude helping
@ShowNoMercy502 See what I mean, let me put it to you this way, if someone was arguing with you over something completely stupid, then started saying how terrible you were, started voting down your videos and talking shit on them, wouldn't that piss you off? Wouldn't that set you on a tantrum? I mean, that's all you saw, and you judged me. I had to retaliate. If I come off cocky, so be it, if someone wants to get to know me in person, they can see that I'm just as mellow as anyone else.
@Videostar1another1fa Yeah I love metal, I have a thrash band, but I love Chris in OHM, it's really awesome. Trust me, man. From one metal player to another, it's beyond amazing.
@DimitriVHefley I also kinda like OHM,they sound a bit like Atheist(instrumentaly) only a lot less heavy,but i I was just saying,he is mainly a metal player.
@Videostar1another1fa Nah he's no where near metal at this point, can he still thrash? Yes, most definitely, but that's just not his cup of tea any more. He's beyond metal, sad as it is to say. I wish he was still in Megadeth, but it just isn't his forte. Long Live Chris Poland.
@Videostar1another1fa If he was still a metal player he'd probably still be in Megadeth or working with Lamb of God or something. Either way I love all his work.
@beano1eye Look at the wiki for Chris Poland. He may not consider himself a "jazz" musician, but he is one, considered by many to be one, so get over it. I guess Gar Samuelson wasn't a jazz drummer...hmmm....yeah....
@bergAgreb STFU you douche bag, I'm only talking about his guitar playing roots, he started as a JAZZ PLAYER! Have you heard OHM? It's a fucking JAZZ FUSION BAND! God damn, learn what you're talking about before you open your retarded fucking mouth.
@bergAgreb Such a douche reply. Calling me a virgin...lol...yeah...I'm a fuckin God compared to you. You're confusing my age with the length of my dick, ask your mom.
@FlyinVJs30RR nobody should talk about dave or james OVERRATED doesn't even begin to describe it. Kirk mabe a novice compared to better players in that era, but hes easily better than dave who is sloppy and uninteresting.
@FlyinVJs30RR name a solo where dave even plays something remotley coherent, his tone is terrible and he has no finesesse.atleast kirk plays independent ideas, his solos have a discernable begining and end. They also add something to the song aswell, evertime i hear dave play i feel bad for him. it must be imasculating to have every other player you've played with be better than you.
@Residentevilgal yes kirk is a better lead player than dave, but you cant say hes always awful. Some of his solos are a pain to hear (lucretia), but some of his solos are also awesome like wake up dead and My last words. And it really isnt imasculating because he considers himself a rythm player before a lead player, just watch skin o my teeth live. He is a better riffer than kirk, kirk is a better lead than dave.
@rampage222555 dude, kirk isnt better at solos.... listen dialectic chaos or any song in endgame, holy wars solo is better than all kirk shit with wah
@sonnic1995 Kirk is better at solos... yes Holy Wars was AWESOME and lots of his stuff from peace sells, but havent you noticed how every other solo from rust in peace till today sound the same. Start with pentatonics, crazy dirty thing down the 12th fret, crazy dirty thing up the 12th fret, end with pentatonics. Kirk may use too much wah live, but hes got beter solos. Fade to Black, Unforgiven, disposable heroes, unforgiven 3, one, Call of Ktulu, Creeping Death...

@beano1eye You are fucking stupid buddy. I'm a cretin? Do you even play an instrument? Do you even know what jazz or jazz fusion is? @DimitriVHefley I've been playing longer than you've been alive, I can see what I'm dealing with here, you're a fan boy that sits in his bedroom and plays Megadeth, badly I might add, ever compose your own stuff, no I bet you don't have the creativity. Hey I think Chris might be a jazz groovecore player, start calling him that now shall we? enjoying your comments keep em coming, have a nice day :)
beano1eye 1 year ago
@beano1eye You've been playing longer than me and have no uploads of your own. LOL, you're a fake piece of shit, and yes I do indeed compose my own music I'm working on an album right now. He is a jazz/jazz fusion player. His band OHM is a JAZZ FUSION BAND!!! God damn you're fucking pathetic, how long have you been alive? Fifteen years? You can play a G chord? Congratulations, you are a moron. And I guess all of the music community are cretins as well, for labeling Chris a Jazz player...right?

@DimitriVHefley Arguing on Youtube about whether or not you're better at guitar than someone else is unbelievably ridiculous, not even more professional guitarists are that arrogant and they are a tenfold above you in skill, as well as modesty. If you have any intention on actually making it somewhere with your music, you really need to learn that it's not a competition. Coming on youtube to boost your guitar playing ego certainly won't help you get anywhere, I promise you that.
ShowNoMercy502 1 year ago
@ShowNoMercy502 You must not of read my posts, I did not originally intend to boast about my skills, they are plain as day for everyone and anyone to see. What pisses me off is people like you, who come on here and start preaching to me about dumb bullshit, when you yourself have no videos, nothing, you have a picture of you holding a guitar. It really doesn't prove anything. I'm no on here to compete with anyone, just put them in their place. You need to learn yours.
DimitriVHefley 1 year ago
@DimitriVHefley That's not even me holding the guitar you halfwit, it's one of my influences. Videos will come when my band finishes recording, I feel no need to sit around in my bedroom making videos of my showing off my skills covering other band's songs just to impress people like you. I don't care how this debate started, the point is it ends with you being an arrogant jackass trying to belittle others just to convince yourself that you're some phenomenal guitarist. It's absurd.
ShowNoMercy502 1 year ago
@ShowNoMercy502 Yes, it's absurd for me to argue with some random person on youtube..absurd I say.... Dude, just shut the fuck up, I couldn't care less for your excuses, I doubt you have any talent or you wouldn't be saying shit to me. And if you want to prove me wrong, and show me how much more informed and talented you are on the guitar then I'll wait for that day. Until then, just keep your poser mouth shut.
DimitriVHefley 1 year ago
@DimitriVHefley Poser mouth eh? What are you dude, 14? You're a shining example of everything that's wrong with guitarists these days, you spend hours in your room practicing which is admirable I admit, but then you bitch and moan about how nobody's as good as you, completely missing the point of playing music in the first place. Get over yourself dude, if you have to belittle others to try and justify your skills then you're doing something wrong. It's not a competition you halfwit.
ShowNoMercy502 1 year ago
@ShowNoMercy502 The only reason I even post covers of songs is to prove Metallica fanbitches wrong. They know nothing of the composition skills of Friedman and the extreme difficulty of the rhythms that Mustaine writes. Yeah, I post some of my own improvisational things on here just in case someone wants to say that I can't play. I have the proof I can play and I know what I'm doing. I never sit in my room all day and practice, I play an hour or two a week and that's fuckin it. It's all talent.
DimitriVHefley 1 year ago
@DimitriVHefley Again, that arrogance will get you nowhere. It's all talent? Well good for you, it comes easier for some people than it does others, but that smug 'I'm better than everyone' attitude will just turn people away. You're not bad, but you're not great either; put down the ego and actually focus on the music instead of trying to prove you're better than everyone else and you'll improve immensely. This isn't an attack, this is advice; It would be wise to take it seriously.
ShowNoMercy502 1 year ago
@ShowNoMercy502 Take advice from someone who A: Tells me that arguing with people on youtube is idiotic, then proceeds to do so, B: Has no proof that he/she is a better, more knowledgeable player than I, C: Tells me I'm arrogant and smug, and at the same time justify his/her advice giving because he/she thinks he/she has more morals than me. Dude, you're a hypocrite. I don't care whether I'm better than anyone or not. When some dipshit wants to argue with me, I can proof my point. You cannot.
DimitriVHefley 1 year ago
@DimitriVHefley Prove a point? All you've been doing is pulling the "WELL YOU DON'T HAVE VIDEOS SO YOU MUST SUCK" card, how's that proving a point? Victory through omission? lolrite. Also great reading comprehension skills, I stated that arguing over whether or not you're more skilled than someone else on youtube is ridiculous. I'm not claiming I'm better nor worse than you, everyone has a particular style, but clearly you don't understand music very well since you don't seem to get that.
ShowNoMercy502 1 year ago
@ShowNoMercy502 Lol ok, yeah I don't understand styles...even though I clearly have my own. And uh, go back, read my posts, when did I EVER say you suck? I never assume anything, you could be better than me, and I wouldn't give a fuck. The points I always end up having to prove are these: I can play just about anything, I'm better than the average Joe at playing, Megadeth is better than Metallica. And here you go, saying that I don't understand music. See, just proving another point, hypocrite.
DimitriVHefley 1 year ago
@DimitriVHefley Understanding music does not lie solely in it's theoretical implications. You have the wrong attitude about it all, and that's what you don't seem to understand. Hell, I betcha if you were to get ahold of Marty Friedman or someone else who's made it, they would tell you the exact same thing I am. It's not a competition, yet you treat it as if it is. You said I probably suck, and you implied that my opinion is of no worth simply because I don't have any videos up, horrible logic.
ShowNoMercy502 1 year ago
@DimitriVHefley Oh, and for the record; everyone has their own style. Whether or not it's original is a different question, but 'I HAVE MY OWN STYLE SO CLEARLY I UNDERSTAND THEM' isn't exactly a valid argument.
All I'm saying is the ego isn't going to get you anywhere, and many musicians far more successful than you and I would tell you the exact same thing if they could. You can deny it all you want, but you know this to be true.
ShowNoMercy502 1 year ago
@ShowNoMercy502 Half of all musicians have a huge ego, it comes with the talent. This isn't a competition, but uh guess what, if you want to prove your valor you have to (you guessed it) PLAY IN GUITAR COMPETITIONS/BAND COMPETITIONS! It may not be about competition strictly among guitarists, but in the long run it is. Marty Friedman is crazy at this point and has lost a lot of his gusto over the years. Chris Poland is my biggest influence right now, that was my point before you butted in.
DimitriVHefley 1 year ago
@DimitriVHefley Many musicians have a big ego, I will certainly give you that; but unfortunately those are more often just the ones who can justify it. Axl Rose, Slash, Mustaine, just to name three of the more popular and well-known examples; but they're acquired their fame, and it got to their heads. In most cases, modesty is respected far more than sheer self-importance. Believe it or not, ego definitely affects how you come across to those who matter, i.e. Record execs, promoters, etc.
ShowNoMercy502 1 year ago
@ShowNoMercy502 I think Dave Mustaine has every right to be cocky, he does care for his fans and is a changed man. You do realize Metallica ripped him off and he made a better band practically by himself. I don't go around flaunting my abilities UNLESS someone contests me to do so. I only state what I know and do my best to prove it. That is all.
DimitriVHefley 1 year ago
@DimitriVHefley Cocky, yes; but to act like an arrogant jackass? Definitely not. Mustaine takes the people around him for granted, yes he's been wronged and he became a gigantic success despite all the setbacks he had to face. Nothing but the utmost respect for his achievements and accomplishments, but look at how he treats the people he works with. He back talks them almost constantly, there's almost always a new Feud with Megadeth, and frankly it's not doing them a whole lot of good.
ShowNoMercy502 1 year ago
@ShowNoMercy502 Megadeth is still alive and kicking, that's all that matters, and it is because of Dave. Will Megadeth ever write another masterpiece like Peace Sells? Or Rust in Peace? Unlikely, but they are still out there.
DimitriVHefley 1 year ago
@DimitriVHefley Yes they are, but they're rehashing old material now; it seems Dave lost his creative spark, is that really that much of a victory?
And I never said you were shit, just that you overplay your skills. I think every guitarist needs a shred of self-loathing in himself because that's what fuels them to constantly improve. I don't know you well, I'll admit that, but it seems to me like you've come to a halt because you think you accomplished it all and come here to try&prove it to us
ShowNoMercy502 1 year ago
@ShowNoMercy502 Haha, not in the least, I have a million miles to go, but to anyone who thinks I am shit, or don't know what I'm doing, they can see for themselves. I really don't think Megadeth is rehashing anything, Metallica has that covered. Is the new Megadeth album good? Yes. Is it great? Eh it's ok. I think The System Has Failed is the greatest metal alum since Countdown to Extinction. No matter, things are how they are, and your perceptions are just that, yours.
DimitriVHefley 1 year ago
@DimitriVHefley Well then, I'm glad you admit that. You gave off a completely different vibe before so I apologize for my hostility.
I feel like Endgame is really rehashing a lot of material, I'm hearing riffs that sound like slight variations of riffs he's written in the past. Not to mention I don't think Broderick is a good fit for them, skilled for sure but not 'Megadeth' material. I agree that TSHF is fantastic though, and I was fond of UA but I notice they've been consistently slipping
ShowNoMercy502 1 year ago
@ShowNoMercy502 Well when you think about it, of course the riffs are gonna sound similar seeing as how they are coming from the same person. I completely agree about Broderick, the guy is talented as all hell, and covers Friedman's solos better than anyone I've ever seen, but, he does no fit Megadeth. UA was good too, it had it's moments, and I like Glenn Drover's style, he was an odd fit to Megadeth as well. Friedman and Poland can't be replaced.
DimitriVHefley 1 year ago
@DimitriVHefley Oh similarity is to be expected, but it sounds like he's completely lost his creativity. I think he needs to take some time away from writing to rediscover himself as a musician because the material he's been releasing has been less creative and less inspired than he's capable of. As for Glen, I personally thought he fit well because of how much he reminded me of Marty. They both had that fluid and smooth approach to their leads, though Friedman was obviously the better fit
ShowNoMercy502 1 year ago
@DimitriVHefley I also don't agree that one needs to compete or perform in competitions to prove themselves. To me, songwriting and a good attitude always stood above how skilled you were and whether you could prove yourselves. In my city, arrogance runs high, comes with the Hardcore/Deathcore scene and I know some promoters and label representatives around here, and they want NOTHING to do with these people for their egos. It does have an impact, it just makes things harder in the long run.
ShowNoMercy502 1 year ago
@ShowNoMercy502 I live in Albuquerque New Mexico, it's all about this shitty deathcore crap here, it isn't about the talent, it's about that attitude and facade of metal, not the music itself. Regardless of how you see me on youtube, or want to put down my abilities, I do know more than what you'd think. People steal music around here all the time, the music industry is fucked up, and the only way to prove yourself here is by making a name out shredding people in bars and competitions. Trust me.
DimitriVHefley 1 year ago
@DimitriVHefley Maybe you're right, and I admit I wouldn't know how things work over there; but I do know how things will work when you branch out, and that's when this kind of thing comes in handy. I know people in the business, locally and outside of the local scene; I know people who have 'made' it and believe me, they didn't do so by proving they're better than anyone but rather by consistently making good music (duh) and being easy to work with, yet knowledgeable about the business.
ShowNoMercy502 1 year ago
@DimitriVHefley (I hate this character limit shit)
but if that's what it takes to be noticed there, by all means do whatever it takes.
ShowNoMercy502 1 year ago
@ShowNoMercy502 See what I mean, let me put it to you this way, if someone was arguing with you over something completely stupid, then started saying how terrible you were, started voting down your videos and talking shit on them, wouldn't that piss you off? Wouldn't that set you on a tantrum? I mean, that's all you saw, and you judged me. I had to retaliate. If I come off cocky, so be it, if someone wants to get to know me in person, they can see that I'm just as mellow as anyone else.

@beano1eye Look at the wiki for Chris Poland. He may not consider himself a "jazz" musician, but he is one, considered by many to be one, so get over it. I guess Gar Samuelson wasn't a jazz drummer...hmmm....yeah....

One of the Most Underrated player of all time...everyone talks abt marty dave james kirk etc..but they all forgot Poland
FlyinVJs30RR 1 year ago
@FlyinVJs30RR nobody should talk about dave or james OVERRATED doesn't even begin to describe it. Kirk mabe a novice compared to better players in that era, but hes easily better than dave who is sloppy and uninteresting.
Residentevilgal 1 year ago
@Residentevilgal i disagree wit u but then again they are all just different types of players man..
FlyinVJs30RR 1 year ago
@FlyinVJs30RR name a solo where dave even plays something remotley coherent, his tone is terrible and he has no finesesse.atleast kirk plays independent ideas, his solos have a discernable begining and end. They also add something to the song aswell, evertime i hear dave play i feel bad for him. it must be imasculating to have every other player you've played with be better than you.
Residentevilgal 1 year ago
@Residentevilgal haha yeah but still dave is a riff master so i dont rly care if he is a sloppy lead player
FlyinVJs30RR 1 year ago
@Residentevilgal yes kirk is a better lead player than dave, but you cant say hes always awful. Some of his solos are a pain to hear (lucretia), but some of his solos are also awesome like wake up dead and My last words. And it really isnt imasculating because he considers himself a rythm player before a lead player, just watch skin o my teeth live. He is a better riffer than kirk, kirk is a better lead than dave.

@rampage222555 dude, kirk isnt better at solos.... listen dialectic chaos or any song in endgame, holy wars solo is better than all kirk shit with wah
sonnic1995 1 year ago 2
@sonnic1995 Kirk is better at solos... yes Holy Wars was AWESOME and lots of his stuff from peace sells, but havent you noticed how every other solo from rust in peace till today sound the same. Start with pentatonics, crazy dirty thing down the 12th fret, crazy dirty thing up the 12th fret, end with pentatonics. Kirk may use too much wah live, but hes got beter solos. Fade to Black, Unforgiven, disposable heroes, unforgiven 3, one, Call of Ktulu, Creeping Death...
not a fan of Endgame...
