@MrNickdrummer Haha that's fair enough for like metal and rock but I couldn't do that I play all styles and I have OCD so it would be like I have to have them both the same way round lol.
@MrNickdrummer Hmm, ok, maybe because this video is a little older that it looks different, ec2's and ec'1 nowadays have a different looking stripe around the edge.
@Raxmii I forgot how many times I have answered this question, but here we go again: Audix D2 on toms, D4 on floor toms, D6 on bass drums, Shure SM57 on snare and AT-3035 for overheads. :o)
@Ltdave123 Using Evans EQ3 batter head with danmar pad on it, rhythm tech beater, evans velcro pillow inside and for this video the resonant ported head has been removed and the audix D6 mic is dead-center inside the drum exactly 8" away from the head. (half the depth of the drum). My 2 most recent videos - Prime Mover and Mission - have the resonant ported heads in place with 2 stacked felt strips on them. Thanks!
Very nice kit sir. Sounds really damn good. Been playing Tama since day 1 and i'll never switch. I plan on getting a Starclassic preformer B/B kit in about a month. I've always used the more intermediate kits like super/rock star but now I'm finally going big with a Starclassic kit. Can't wait!
@TamaTones Awesome, congrats on the new kit. Have you though about maple? It's about taste really because the B/B kit sounds really nice too. Thanks for the comments!
@MrNickdrummer I've definitely thought about maple but the type of music I play(metal) requires more attack from my drums. Birch just seems like it's a better fit for me.
@groxbomber I don't know now because it took me a while to put it together. But just the drums (no mounting hardware or cymbals) did cost north of 6k. Worth every penny IMHO - the tama sound is unbeatable.
@AwesomeVideosHere Heads are Evans EC2s on tom tops, Tama G1 on bottom, EQ3 system on bass drums and Evans reverse dot on snare with hazy 300 bottom. Snare has 42 strands.
I was really surprised with the sounding of your 3000 China. 20" with quick decay. I had a 18" Thin and Heavy China which I sold it because they were just too much. Bought a 16" 2002 China and did not like it too. I've heard that the 2000 Mellow China is the way to go and they still pop up on ebay once in a while. If this one does not work I'm gonna end up with a Wuhan...
@gelebraz Yes, the 3000 sounds short through the microphones, and for me that's a good thing. In this video all Chinas are clamped down pretty good on the stands. From the driver's seat the 3000 is VERY LOUD. But it sounds just perfect when recorded. Still, may favorite is the Wuhan. :o)
