I took the guage fuse out for about 2 seconds in my mr2 to figure out if thats why the gauge lights weren't working. as soon as I unplugged the fuse the car started running like shit, popped the fuse back in it went back to normal. The gauge lights are on the tail lights fuse btw, but your mr2 will not run correctly with a blown gauge fuse. Might wanna try that first, youll have to do it anyway to get it running right.
yeah, that sounds right. After talking a lot on the mr2 forums, i discovered that it's probably a vacuum seal leak, causing the car to choke. The only problem is after sitting the starter and battery rotted so now I have to buy those parts before fixing the gasket, hanks for the advice though, that confirms what i was thinking
im not much of a mechanic but u may want to check the fuel lines and the fuel filter and make sure that there is enough fuel going into the injector/s(not sure if is one or four).
yeah, i think it actually has a vacuum seal leak, causing it to get too much air and therefore not enough fuel...good news is it's an easy fix from what I hear :D
OMG! dude! I am having the same exact problems.. Except I washed the motor at the car wash with soft spray and warm water?? Then after it just idled like crap :( Any suggestions?
yeah man, you probably just killed your spark plugs. maybe the plug wires. it starts fine but idles like crap? i'd say start with that 99% chance that's the problem. maybe my problem too...but I'm thinking my ignition timing might be off, or a blown relay or something. plus my starter is now no good :[
Ok I took my car into toyota running .... and it came out running fine and they wouldn't tell me what was wrong, and they didn't charge me the 99 dollars to diagnose either :)
is it still idling crappy? if so it could be a vacuum seal leak, after much research I determined (with the help of some experienced mr2'ers) that's most likely the problem
that white blue combo... don't do that man... make it white:D

hey man sounds like there is probably a broken pipe or tore hose where the engine is getting air and thats why it starts shaking and turns off
