@x8xmillsyx8x Back when i used to play people would do it when they had cards returned to their hands or had to show their hands to you just incase you have a discarding effect in your deck. But it also distracts you, yu-gi-oh in real life is a very pschological game as well which is why a lot of adults play it. Personally i enjoyed beating these kind of people because they take it far too seriously.

So even knowing the number of cards on your opponents hand can be powerful knowledge in a tournament. The shuffling is to shuffle around one card a time down your hand.
