  • a mash up is two styles mixed together ie jungle and house...or trance and funk whatever you want, this is just mixing mate

  • A mash up is say: A house beat with kylie vocals. like that mylo tune that came out dr pressure. a mash up is not trance or funk the gether or whatever. Mate it looks like your commenting on folks stuff without having a clue

  • hey ellaskins-- hope your doing fine Dude--- nice Blending here to listen to--- keep it up---

  • nice mashup. always liked mashupin

  • *do a jungle mash-up

  • mash up jungle

  • it's called a mix bro. not a mash - up . jeez

  • i think the almighty ellaskins knows what hes ona bout.. ita a mash-up bro.. lol

  • A mix is blending songs seamlessly together to keep the flow of musical energy.

A mash-up is a combination of two or more different tracks to create a completely new one. Usually introducing the tracks together near the beginning, otherwise it would be more of a blend.

    Jeez...

  • thats right..nothing to do with mashups...its a classic remix

  • For all of you who think this is a decen mashup: get yourself a pair of dj ears. It is way to chaotic, way too much sounds at the same time (which is just the opposite goal of a mashup). If you compare it with Doctor Pressure, this one is just rubbish. I would rather call it a 'really long mix of 2 records' than a mashup, because he just uses 2 records of the same genre. Lots of dj's can do this with tons of their records.

  • Chief.. You have got IT... Absolutely Brilliant that you do this for people and for the music! Stellar mixes etc..

  • That's sick man! Keep up the good work!

    H

  • thats was so good i want to cry

  • WHAT WHAAAT

  • ludacris - number one spot sick

  • nice

  • that was good :D

  • Is this what a mashup is? Looks like an average saturday night for me, except I use a third deck or a CDJ to bring in the next cut. Sounds good though.

No complaints, I just wouldn't consider it a mash up, if it is one, then I have been doing mashups since the early 90's

  • how about some videos? im new and also using cdj decks but for hiphop.

  • You must be a very cool person.

  • nice 1

  • simply awesome...

  • wat kind of mixer is that man

  • PART 2:

Once Volumes are set, open a new recording set time, then go do a mix. Close all other Windows programs to ensure no Windows sounds occur. OR shut off Windows sound, in Windows Sound option in Control Panel somewhere.

Once finished Save As in Goldwave (mp3 112kpbs or 128kbps) From past experience a 90min mix is usually 60-80mb.

    Lastly upload it.

    Sweet as you like :)

  • Brilliant as usual Johnathan!

  • PART 1: (less than 500 characters YouTube nonsense)

How to record a simple mix by SilverStudio:

Install Goldwave, (google it) onto PC.

Connect mixer output to SoundCard input.

Goto Volume Control > Recording. Check Line In (Select).

Open Goldwave, begin a test recording to set volumes.

Make sure the wave bar never goes red. Stay within orange.

  • does the trial version work well or do i need the full version. cheers

  • Iv used it for 4 years and it works well. Iv used it to record unlimited times, along with trimming, fade out and volume changes. All round its good a evaluation version. Give it a try for yourself.

  • nice mix good to know you are having fun, I'm really enjoying your videos keep them coming

  • love tim delux

  • No, Back in the day "bootlegs" were usually re-presses of old rare grooves that the record company wouldnt re-release, So "bootlegs" were illegal vinyl presses where no royalties were paid to the artists. If you read my last comment its says "bootleg" it doesnt say "bootleg mixes" and furthermore how can ellaskins be bootlegging when hes not offering any copy for sale. Its just a mix!!

  • 100%, we all do it!!

  • mart, back in the days mashups were called "bootleg mixes" as the artist performing them did not have any legal right to use the records together to create a new song. Nowadays a bootleg is just a self-recorded audio piece.

  • Silverzstudio... I'd like to inform you that a "mashup" and a "bootleg" are 2 completely different things. Get it right next time mate ;)

  • I thought a mash-up was a bootleg.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels from the 90s being one example.

  • Mash-ups are often bootlegs. Basicaly what a Mash-up consists of are 2 trax blended together to create a new track - Example: Dr Pressure = Drop The Pressure by Mylo and Dr Beat by Miami Sound Machine.

  • Hi Johnathan, this is my first comment, Ive been watching your videos for a while now & have enjoyed your various mixes including this one, it sounded good. I dunno what planet silverzstudio is from but there is no hard and fast rules about how to mix or blend anything, no one has the right to tell anyone what to mix or what not to mix, especially from someone who seems to have a chip on their shoulder. Keep up the good work mate.

  • Thanks!

just want to have fun and help at the same time! peace!

  • Simple tricks and nonsense as Han Solo said in Star Wars Episode 4.

Mash ups are destroying House music. Any mofo and there dog can do a mash up.

These records are meant to be mixed. Now do a 60min mix and show your real talent. A real DJ does 60min - 120min sets.

Iv never liked mash ups. Fuck em. The producer took great care in creating a record and some people undermine it all by doing "mash ups" or bootlegs as they were called in the 90s.

  • Fair comment , i may try to get a directors account soon so i can do just that. all the best Johnathan

  • Dang you frustrate me. Your explaination videos are good. Pitch control, speakers, amps, mixers etc.

Im just not digging all this 9min mixe, mash-up stuff.

ALL: Do a short 5mins video showing your setup. Then do a 60min (if you have enough tunes) mix, record it using Goldwave, then up it to a storage site.

Ellaskins. Cant you have an audio mix section in your DJ tutor pages, where DJs can send you a 60-90min audio mp3 mix. It might be a good idea.

  • My dog can't do a mash up.

  • my cat can. lols silverzstudio... have u ever tried running 2 records together for 5 minutes and keeping them in beat? that alone is very hard. then try making it sound good. this mash up rocks.

and people like you are killing house music. lols. stop being so freaking negative. we all do what we do. stop trying to get other people to do what you think is right, just so you would feel like you yourself are on the right path.

  • True that BigMilan :)

  • toons are tim delux , we all love sax and ian pooley , higgledy piggldey. PRACTISE AND N JOY!! JOHNATHAN DJ TUTOR
