  • practice as though you're in 3/4 time not 3/3.... ^.^ the top number means how many beats in a measure and the bottom number means the value of each beat. 3/4 time means 3 beats per with the quarter note getting the beat, such as a waltz.

  • I want this video on my U8120 phone.

  • would it make sense for sprints to kick 8 beat?

  • @xenialvirtuoso If you're able to do it... sure. It's tough, but there are some who can pull it off.

  • @goswim098

there are also some vid of natalie coughlin using 8 beat kick on youtube...

  • @goswim098 8 beat kick is not symmetrical.

  • @MarineKingPride OK. Thanks.

  • Thanks =)

  • 3/3 time... my head just broke. D:

    I can't even comprehend a 3rd of a measure. Except in like, 3/4. D:

I would say 6/8 is more correct, as you have 2 beats in 6 notes which are less accented than they would be in 3/4.

  • Strictly speaking (in musical terms) the six-beat kick should be in 6/8 time, in other words, for one cycle, One two three Four five six. If you just keep the One and Four you have a two-beat kick. You can look at each cycle as two measures of 3/4 as well, of course and if you are swimming with a two-beat kick you can count one in a bar like a fast waltz tempo.

  • isn't that 3/4 time??

  • My problem is - currently I'm often using a pull buoy which on one hand let me concentrate very well on my arm stroke technique, on the other hand I'm getting tired very rapidly without it. It has become so bad that with a pull buoy I could swim forever but without it I have to take a rest every 100m.

Very good advice when you want to practice your kick. Thx.

  • a 6 beat kick should'nt even exist because on every second stroke your kick with the same side arm has the catch. Instead of the opposit foot. It should beat a 7 beat kick with a small kick in between bot strokes

  • I don't get it. In both a 2-beat kick and a 6-beat kick, the kick that corresponds with the pull doesn't switch sides unless there is a problem with the rhythm (like I have). The kick and the pull happen on the same side every time in a 2-beat kick. The 6-beat kick just adds extra kicks in between the two main kicks.

  • @defcabounty The 6 beat kick is the best there is. Period. If you're timing your stroke correctly, you get your breath on the reach, and progress with your 6 beat kick. The reach will always be on kick one. Good luck!

  • i had always problem with kicking , that was why i had been good in frestyle ;) good video

  • excellent video

  • is the arm stroke on 3 and is there a kick snap to initiate rotation on 3?

  • I would call that kick number one. I don't know if you need to apply extra force to that kick, but the kick must move a greater distance compared to the others. Body rotation and the pull happen at the same time, which makes it natural to emphasize the count at that point. ONE, two, three; ONE, two, three. (Try drumming your hands on the edge of a table with that timing.)
