  • very nice idea in your fish tank :) i like it and i will do it on my fish tank

    thnx

  • i am never buying my daughter an aquarium tank LOL!

  • er, would the nutes the plants require not be bad for the fish?

  • tht looks more like a hydro system then an aqua system. usually, aquaponic systems have the bed up above and the water is pumping up to the bed. its a much better method. you can get a good water pump for 20 at lowes.

  • look like your palnt is hugry.....add more fish and air bubles....^ ^

  • Right one.. you might try thicker styrofoam so not much of the roots get exposed to the water.. I never thought about just sticking the whole thing in with the fish.. :D I guess thats the way the indians use to do it.. it wasent like they had a fish tank and airpumps in those days, and no means of draining into another tank and back into the tank with the fish... Hope your projects are turning out great.. best of luck

  • From what I have heard, unless you have a screen stopping the fish from reaching the roots, the fish will eat and/or disturb the roots. Also I think having the bubbler distribute the bubbles under all the plants might improve their growth, as extra oxygen is good for growth.

  • Lol, I think you should boost the pots out a bit. You have the rockwoll submersed past the stems. The miniscule air bubbles wont be enough air soon. I would suggest having just the very bottom of the pots submersed. This will promote the roots to grow down into your fish tank solution. What's the point of this anyways? Is this a new Microbial-rich solution trick? Looks good tho :)

  • Hey thanks. Yea, this was my first try and I kinda figured after a while the cubes are too saturated. I am actually trying a second set of plants and this time keeping the water level lower on the cubes...in fact just barely in the water. This year is just for trying and experiementing...I need to use a bigger tanks as well...perhaps a 10 or 20 gallon. Thanks for your suggestions and help. I will try to get another video posted soon on my second set of plants...thanks, Amanda

  • Good job Amanda. That's cool.

  • Thanks Pastor Len!

  • I have to say I don't fully understand the concept. Is this how we get tomatoes in winter? But the little guys look happy, and that is what counts..

  • I understand you were a student of my dad's...cool..and yes the fish are fine...for the most part...keep tuned!

  • Amanda -- you are too awesome. June Malone
