The song is in c sharp so most of the shorter runs are a portion of the c maj scale. He's using chord substitutions at the begining and end so what ever chord he's playing he's playing an arpegs or scale that relates to the chord. Sounds like a bunch of nothin...i know. The foundation to great playing is knowledge. Study your craft...learn all maj and minor scales and arpegs and everything will emerge with inspiration.
