  • Does anyone know why they changed the names though? Copyright issues? Makes no sense then why they'd be allowed to make the movie, but only have to omit the names.

  • HEY 7TH GRADERS ITS MARCO

  • Why is everybody so pissed off about the name changes? They're the same characters, basically.

  • I searched and found a site: retrovision.tv/freevideo/and-then-there-were-none-1945

Great site and it's all totally free--no hassles-no games you MUST play.

By the way it's all commercial free. runtime 1hr 37min 15 seconds

    ENJOY!!!!!

  • im 13 and i love this, book seems somewhat better????

  • Marston seems high.. but its funny ;P

  • hopefully im not the only one who noticed that the actor who plays Rogers also played Uncle Max in The Sound of Music! :)

  • I would think would you not think that it is werid that the poem was about killing? Also there were already 10 ;; I'd be pretty scared already when i hear that song.

  • I want to see a video of just the song Marston sings by itself.

  • Such a catchy little song

  • @Morphae lol ikr?

  • to address all of you who watch these: Agatha Christie herself changed the ending and things for a stage play a few years later. That is what this ending and things are based on. Besides this type of thing would be more acceptable to Americans as they would get a conclusion, as would Europeans like open ended stuff. The book is still the same, it just got changed a bit for a play, and this movie so they wouldn't have to do the detectives and stuff.

  • Mr.Owen is a dumb ass. In the book, the only acusasions that were true was the genral and the maid and butler.

  • @Chupa1997Girl

In the book, they were ALL true.

  • @DrGregoryHouseIT No, I mean that the General and Mr&Mrs.Rogers accusations were directly from the book.

  • General John Is Way Better Than Justin Bieber Oh I Love This Novel Its Great I've Redden It 4 Times I watch the movie everyday i love movie its great better than any movie of this novel is this movie i wanted to watch it on youtube cuz my cousin told me there is defrents on youtube

  • I only came to watch this movie because Flandre Scarlet's Signature spell card in Touhou: Embodiment of Scarlet Devil is called "Secret: And then will there be none?" aand her BMG is "U.N.Owen was her."

  • i like the book way better but i like this because its funny.

  • this is like my favorite movie in the whole world i like phillip lombard

  • @springdidi scary how u LIKE to see people get murdered over and over again. cause tahts what this moveh is! :)

  • i didn't see this version in class, we watched the 1965 version. It was a lot better than this, but this one is still good. I love the ending on that one. That was the one good thing they changed from the book. Vera didn't shoot Lombard. NEway...watch it. Its cute.

  • I don't understand the point of the name changes and the crime changes... and yet they left some the same

  • ten little NIGGERS

  • @carcinogen20 LMFAOO!!

  • Nice song, Marston. (Whatever the name change is)

  • i just got done reading this book in school, and i dont blame the last one (vera) for hanging herself

  • lol " i wouldnt touch that money!" " SHUT UP" * cries*

  • Vera Claythorne didn't kill her sisters boyfriend, she killed her lover's nephew

  • @tinydancer41 Cyril Olgivie Hamilton rite?

  • @kevin3134 I believe that was his name. Didn't she tell he could swim out and she looked like she tried to save him? I think that's what happened.

  • What's the matter with Rogers' wife?

  • my 7th grade teacher had the whole class read this book and i loved it

  • @i2l3e4a5n6a omg same here haha(: do you go to ankeney?

  • @missconverse97 ha im 23 already so 7th grade was a long time ago lol

  • this movie is great ...... the book is much better AVOID VEOH I HAD IT ITS LOADED WITH VIRUSES

  • lol i watched this my sophmore year and i loved it

  • that's Topper.. ha ha..

  • Love this movie...remember watching it on tv late show movies...when a child.

  • I just read it and i am 13. I had pictures of what the people looked like in my mind, but they all look different then what I expected. Really just outstanding probably the greatest book I have read since Fahrenheit 451.

  • @PS3WiiKyle14 Fahrenheit 451 is not a very good book at all. Too dull and dry.

  • That is your opinion I loved it.

  • can somebody tell me why lombard wanted to shoot vera (in the book)???i thaught w. was the criminal

  • @Picknikly actually vera shot lombard but vera really wasnt the killer she only killed lombard cuz she thought he was the killer but read the epilouge it explains that wargrave was the real killer

  • he didnt VerA ShotHiM

  • Wow... Anthony Marston sings creepily O.O

This book is really awesome. I read when I was twelve. I clearly remember not being able to stop reading, not even when I was supposed to be sleeping. And afterwards I couldn't sleep. I was scared of walking alone around in the house for about a week. Ah, good times... :')

  • @mewminto368 i read it when i was 12 also

  • @mewminto368 omg, im eleven, i read the book, i wouldn't walk anywhere at all.

  • @Theberunit Yeah, I understand why. But it is about the most awesome book I've ever read. It's my biggest treasure.

  • 2:34-4:22 the poem by itself is disturbing but with the music and Marston's singing it's just plain creepy! What the hell kind of a nursery ryhme is that??

  • @purpleshamrock17 I find it's funny the way he sings espically when he says "none" it makes me crack up everytime

  • @purpleshamrock17 "kakoi uzhas" lol

    is he Russian?

  • @purpleshamrock17 Well, when you really think about it, a lot of nursery rhymes are pretty messed up. Especially the original versions, before people went all PC on them. Rock-a-bye-baby is about a baby falling out of a tree. Three blind mice is about some mice running after a woman who cut off their tails. Jack and Jill has a boy falling and cracking his skull open.

...Still, the way he sings it just takes it up a notch.

  • @VinCon01 Very true! Along with the original Grimms Fairy Tales had a dark ending/undertone to them as well. But yes, I see your point.

  • @purpleshamrock17 Of course, as bizarre as some of them seem you still don't see very many nursery rhymes where pretty much every one or two lines involves someone being killed off.

  • @VinCon01 yeah great and i am telling my kids not to watch tv because of the violence

  • @purpleshamrock17

I agree, it is the best part of the movie and the scene I bet everyone who sees this remembers. Did you evre hear the guy sing it in the 1965 version? The guy puts a whole new spin on it trying to be cheerful and it sounds totally bad.

  • ...I know there's no movie exactly the same as the book, but the people they killed and their names were VERY IMPORTANT.Well,it's still a good movie.

  • actually there is.....it is russian though, i watched it on youtube and it has english subtitles on. look up Ten Little Indians part 1 biriburfilms. It is great and actually shows the deaths sometimes....not to gross. And I read when I was 12 too. Never stopped. Best book ever read still to this day.

  • actually purpleshamrock i like that song with marston's singing.

  • 0:51 ahhh Ethel a tripXD

  • ~spoiler question thingy..don't read if u didn't read the book~

wait didn't they reveal blore's name to it being something else? They were wondering who was the other name and someone accused blore saying that the gramophone didn;t reveal his name and thats were he revealed his real name or something? and something about him lying because he wanted to be cautious or something??? I can't remember

  • @darkAriful in the book, blore says his name is mr davis

  • Yea, he said his name was something Davis, then when the gramophone record accused him, he told his real name and that he was an ex-policeman.

  • Blore is a detective, he was sent to the island to inspect the party under the name Davis. The gramophone reads Blore. They think the gramophone made a mistake that is when Blore reveals his identity as a detective,

  • Im in love with 'Clue' and 'Death on the Nile', someone referred me to this movie. It's awesome so far!!

  • Usually, movies have to be a little bit different from the original book, because they don't want it to be exactly the same :// thats what most people tell me, anyway..

  • Some of the crimes are diffrent...

Emily Brent kicked out a young lady that worked for her when she found out the lady was pregnat, without being married and the lady jumped into a lake, killing herself.

And Claythorne, her lover's nephew drowned under her watch. Partly because the little boy had millions due to his father's death, and if he wasn't born, her lover would have been rich and would have been able to marry her.

The rest are basically the same. Just figure I'd clear that up. =)

  • mrs rogers fainting is hilarious

  • Why Did They Change Thuh Names..? And Didnt Vera drown cyril, and something else with someone else.?

  • hugo?

  • @sitka24 Vera and Miss Brent's crimes were altered because the Hayes Code would never allow a film to imply themes of child murder, rape, teenage pregnancy and suicide.

  • They dropped their food on the floor and served it. Rofl. So fired. xP

  • Just think it was 10 little niggers.

  • NAWN lol

  • Oh im a lonly little indian. Instead of looking for some friends, I think I will go hang myself. Yeah, that will solve all my problems!

  • why did they change the names? it's general macarthur and justice wargrave and something else

  • macarthur was changed because of the real WWII general who had just become famous because of the war and they didn't want to offend him or something, i read about it either on IMDB or wikipedia

  • i never knew that thanks for telling me!

  • you're welcome! :)))

  • The guy who provides the voice that reads out the list of crimes is so amateur. He sounds like a bingo caller !

  • THESE NAMES ARE TOTALLY DIFFERENT

  • There are 4 versions of the book. The final one is with Frank Stallone! :)

The book's ending was changed for the film and for the play. It makes it a little more "palatable" and it would be nice to see an english-lang version with the original ending.

    Shot in b/w!

  • hahhahahaha

"I'll drink to the little indians. all of them. individually!!!" hahaha alcoholic ;)

  • I believe this was my favorite version because I like the actors, the eerie setting, and it wasn't too awful considering. I've long ago learned not to expect a movie to resemble the book. This movie has been remade several times.

Don't fret, TBone, many nursery rhymes are little horror stories. Remember Little Red Riding Hood and the wolf who are her grandmother? And The Three Little Pigs? All frightening stuff, indeed.

  • I imagined the island to look just like that.

  • love the book and the movie but sorry for being such a pain, a nursery rhyme? If I am a little kid, but big enough to understand words and someone sings this song to me, I would be scared half to death. LOL!

  • Im directing this play and the screen version and the play version is really different

  • i just finished the book this afternoon, and I searched for a movie.. lol good thing i found one cuz I wanted to see them in a screen XD wow... I wish they'd remake this!

  • its annoying how they change a lot of names and crimes '~'

  • creepiest. song. ever. O.o.....

  • Tell me about it...

  • We can all agree the song is awesome!!!

  • Here in Brazil I don't find any tape, or DVD... but the book is awesome... too sad they change so many stuffs in the movie...Agatha is my favorite.

  • i just finished reading this book and i loved it. =D but this movie is making me sad cuz its changing the names and the murders and stuff. =(

  • In fairness, Agatha Christie herself made most of the changes to the the ending when she adapted the novel for the stage.

  • I don't get why they changed the names and the murders. Changing the ending makes perfect sense, but why the names and the murders?

  • hey where are you supposed to find this in book? does it come by itself? i have a book called the mousetrap and other plays (many plays by agatha) and my school says its in that book but i dont see it in there.

  • I luvs the song at 2:34!!!!

  • LOVE the song!!!!!!

  • Love it but is there a video with just the rhyme? Great novel, great story, great ditty :D

  • We read this book in class.. It became my favorite book. I absolutley love it. its all very suspensful andd just joyful.. and as for the "Nursery Rhyme" no its not a child nursery rhyme.. the actual one just counts up to ten and goes down.. agatha got the idea for the book from that nursery rhyme

  • no way! We just finished the book in my class! O.o

The song got stuck in my head today... O.o must... be... U.N. Owen... must...

  • HAHA THIS SONG IS AWESOME.

  • hahahaha i like tony marston's piano playing and we were reading this at school and the teacher read us the poem and were all like 'thats a childrens rhyme?' haha

  • What kind of kids song is that, about indian boys dying doesn't sound like a kids song. But I like this movie.

  • Yeah, didn't Emily Brent kill her maid by relieving her and Vera Claythorne let a child swim out to sea and drown.

  • thats exactly rite

  • i like this movie and i also read the book

  • i saw the movie then i read the book but the film is much entreading to wach

  • omg is that really the Little Indian Boys song? I never knew it was so MORBID :O

  • for some reason, this reminds me of Saw o_o"" except to the part that they didnt change xD

  • Hey, don't worry people (for those of you who haven't seen this yet). No, it isn't the same as the book (which is incredible by the way, one of my favorite mysteries and one of my favorite books period), but it's still a good movie. It simply has a lighter, more humurous mood to it. Agatha Christie did write the stage version herself, which changed the dark ending and some names. It's still a good movie, just not as good as the book!

  • some of the deaeths r not the same as the book!!!

  • emily brent's crime is wrong here, so is vera claythorne's

  • Why did they ruined this movie?

no.1- they totally changed some names

no. 2-some scenes are deleted or changed and the ending in this movie is so awful that they changed the ending.

so the book is totally 100% better

  • ya i am in 8th grade and we just read the book so we are going to watch this movie. but by all the comments left it sounds like it is gonna stinkk.

  • Guys, go check the Wikipedia article for "And Then There Were None" before you complain about how the film screwed things up by changing it.

The movie isn't based on the book! It's based on the 1943 stage version (which Agatha Christie wrote herself). Almost all of the differences, like the changed ending and the switched names, originated there. And again, Agatha Christie was the one who made those changes!

  • Grumble, Grumble.........people are so ungrateful and thoughtless. This is a brilliant cast of Actors and Hollywood is famous for mucking up books and musicals. Sometimes the film stands on its own as a good film. Example the brilliant Razor's Edge, although quite different from the book. The total destruction of My Fair Lady with that dreary Hephurn who could not sing rather than the woman that made the rold famous around the world. Thank you for the effort of posting this.

  • Too many people lived in this movie lol

  • Ugh they completely have changed everything!!!! NO!! They should just not even call the movie the title of the book if they completely change it around. Gah that makes me angry! Somebody needs to do a remake of this movie nowadays. I think it would be a blockbuster no doubt.

  • no way! they would ruin them - it takes someone who absolutely understands the book to do a remake and most of the time a remake is an excuse to create lots of sex scenes, a homosexual relationship and reveal a drug addiction.

  • dude this sux!! it totalychanged a bunch of the characters and who they killed!! i think we should do a remake, more along the lines of the book to!!

  • what are the orignal names cuz im in this play with my schhool

  • The original book I believe was named "Ten Little Niggers"

The book released in America was called "And then there was none"

And the movie is called "Ten Little Indians"

    I think this is correct.

  • i meant the names of the characters but thank you though

  • I am not positive if the "Ten Little Niggers" is true but in the U.S. it first came out as "Ten Little Indians" but the title was then changed to "And Then There Were None" And the movie appears to be called "And Then There Were None"

  • yes, the original title of the book is "Ten Little Niggers" changed in the US to Ten Little Indians like you said. This book has been made into a movie several times.

  • I believe at some point after that it was changed AGAIN, this time to "Ten Little Sailor Boys."

  • oh, I never knew about the that title.how interesting.

  • yeah ie played the game to this on the computer and it is ten little saliors

  • That disgusting hypocrisy of "politecorrectness".

  • really ? me too .. if you want we could exchange ideas, please tell me something (:

  • General McKenzie

    Dr. Armstrong

    Vera Claythorne

    Emily Brent

    Mr. and Mrs. Rogers

    William Blore

    Judge Wargrave

    Philipp Lombard

    Anthony Marston

  • How come they have to change only some of the names?

  • Mr. Justice Wargrave - The judge (old)

General MacAurthur- Former general in army (old)

    Vera Claythorne- School teacher

    Mr. Blore- Detective

Anthony Marston- Young rich guy with a nice car

Phillip Lombard- If I remeber right also a detective of some sort

    Mr + Mrs. Rogers- Servants

    Dr. Armstrong- Obviously a doctor

Emily Brent - Old religious lady

  • The original names of all the characters are: Mr. Justice Wargrave Ethel Rogers Thomas Rogers Dr. Armstrong General Macarthur Vera Claythorne Emily Brent William Henry Blore Philip Lombard and Anthony Marston. Hope this helps!! :)
  • i like vera the best ^_^ oh btw if people dont know the prince dude is suppose to be anthoney mason or however you spell his last name cant remmber XD but ya

  • anthony marston if im not mistaken?

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • They didn't change any of their names. All the men are still named "dead man walking" and all the women are still named "dead girl walking" XD

  • Lobards the best

  • the song cracks me up x)

  • is the actor who plays mr.Rogers the voice of that smoking caterpillar dude in the disney movie, Alice in Wonderland?

  • I had to Read the Book in School..They Sure Changed names. But, Themovie See=ms good.

  • They changed everything... couldn't people read back then??.. sheeshh.

  • OMG!!! they totally changed all the names!!! kya!!! now im more confused!!!!!

  • What happened to Vera and Cyril. In this she sounds more EVIL!!

  • they did change some of the murders.

  • they changed a bunch of the murders :[

  • Mr. Rodgers reminds me of Spock (Leonard Nimoy) a little bit...

  • im confused even more now...names are confusing me soooo much../.

  • Agatha Christie's masterpiece.

  • Everyone looks exactly how I thought they would.. o__O

  • why did they change the names?!

  • I at least know why they changed the General's name: There was a WWII General named General Macarthur so they had to change the name to avoid legal confusion (which was also why his name was changed in the play). Why they changed other characters' names, I don't know.

  • Maybe they changed the characters name's so you wouldn't immediatly know who was the murderer if you had read the book.

  • ya, but when the record was played, you can just find out who they killed. then you'll find out

  • Plus Judge Quincannon is obviously Wargrave, so Nikita Starloff must be Anthony Marston.

  • the guy who plays tony marston(in this version prince nikita or whatever) is a REALLY bad actor. but i think they stayed pretty close to the book in this version. they changed a few names, but the only reason they changed the general's nmae is cause in the book his name is macarthur and at the time this was made there was a real general macarthur. i dont know why they changed the other names.

  • Anthony Marston is a fricken drug

  • 05:48 lol

  • the doctor is a drunk ....

  • This is crazy, I cannot figure out why they changed some of the names but left others the same. Also, the house was supposed to be a big modern thing in the book and on here it is old cavernous thing. Also, I always pictured Ms. Brent as an old woman in her 70s or 80s, but in the movie she is middle aged. I wish movies could learn to follow the books.

  • im with you there

  • exactly i think its stupid that they changed the names

  • I thought Lombard was going to have a mustache! and the Rogerses were going to be more proper and more scared

  • oh sorry and also:

Justice Lawrence Wargrave is Thomas Quincannon

The General is the guy that stay on the beach

    I hoped that helps ;-)

  • can someone please tell my who all these new char. are or who there supose to be!

  • All im know is anthony marston is prince nikita

  • I like the russian version of the movie, it's more correct to the book and the reading is more dramatic <3
