  • even when not used its great for strengthening and conditioning the hands

  • never thought of it that way, but I can definitely see that!

    thanks for the comment :)

  • It's a great weapon that comes off as a non-weapon. Years ago, I saw a version of the stick that resembles a pen; only slightly bigger and lengthier. But, in Twisted, the yawara is really huge and menacing in a way. It's a deadly non-bladed weapon.

  • yes, the particular model in Twisted is very big, you have to carry it by itself like she did, I prefer the smaller ones you can attach with your keys. The pen one sounds great. I will probably make one like that.

  • I can't forget the scene where she bludgeoned her ex-boyfriend's face with her humongous yawara. I know what you meant. The version that can be attached with keys normally have a ring that can be slipped around the finger. The yawara is then concealed in the palm of the hand. This makes you appear weaponless when engaged in combat.

  • Another point worth mentioning is that yawara can also be used in joint-locking and defensive maneuvers. Most people mistake it only as an offensive weapon eg thrusting, poking, etc

  • good points, personally I like to use it for submissions when fighting on the ground, & I like the yawara stick very much because most folding knives become a yawara stick when closed, and if that is not good enough, out comes the blade ;)
