  • Just saying if someone defends any bands please don't assume that they are part of that band because I'm not apart of FHS what so ever. Just to put it out there and sorry for my recent comment that was out of stupidity. LOL!!!

  • @26hitgirl I had no problem whatsoever with anything you said thus far. I have controled many of the posts on this because I abhor a pissing match. I have deleted many posts from some nasty mouthed posters that will no longer appear here.

  • @1987Wulf 22nd?! That's really impressive. Would there be any possibility of a Grand Nationals video being put up? After seeing how well Wild Orchids did at Grand Nationals (just a few clips of them are on Youtube) I would definately want to see this one too.

  • @TheFatPolice I do not know if any were taken. They are really funny about videos. BOA was almost submariened by copyright infringements a while back. So they don't "allow" any video of performances. One may show up sometime from one of the parents that were there. Unfortunatly, I was unable to attend.

  • How well did Lafayette do at BOA Grand Nationals?

  • @TheFatPolice they got top 34 in the nation.Official scores come out tomorrow. They didnt make top 12 though

  • @TheFatPolice We came in 22nd against some pretty stiff competition. The Mighty Lions did very well. The prelims had mic problems (arrrgh). Semis was the best performance to date and the finals were even better. YEA BAND!!!!!

  • @1987Wulf For some reason, I overt-typed myself, we did not perform in the finals, and what I posted would lead you to believe so. I ment to type that the prelims were the best performance to date and the SEMIS were even better.

  • Ok this performance had a awsome concept and same with FHS so there is a reason why they are the Top 2 bands in the state so please say something nice to both bands. These both brilliant bands bring it every year and pull it off every year. There is no need for negativity. LHS and FHS haha well we are actually sort of good friends. Well some of us are. LHS and FHS are really nice bands and they deserve to be the Top 2 bands in the state.

  • [Cont.]

When we were coming out of the tunnel, both of our tunnels held out their hands and high fived each other right before we got onto the field. The hospitality and kindness they showed to us was amazing. Several lafayette High band members came over and cheered with us for our placement.

Also, the same goes for Fountainebleau. they wished us good luck loads of times, several came and shook my hand after the placement, smiling. Both organizations are good and they both had amazing shows.

  • @STApercussionkid *both of our bands not tunnels sorry

  • @STApercussionkid Thank you for your gracious words. It thrills me to hear the wonderful stories of good sportsmanship that the bands put forth at Showcase every year. I have a video of St. Amant in prelims up as well. I always enjoy watching you guys each year.

  • @1987Wulf Yeah! I want to thank you for putting up all the videos too. Since I was performing, I only got to see part of Northshore and part of Lafayette and i had to watch Lafayette from inside the tunell, so it did their show no justice. Thanks! I can finally see what other amazing bands performed that day.

  • Lafayette is and has been consistently mindblowing. AS HAS Fountainebleau. From a judges point of view, I too think lafayette has deserved their 8 year streak. If they shouldnt have gotten grand champion, they wouldn't have. Plain and simple.

When we lined up to go onto the fields for finals, St. Amant had to line up right next to Lafayette, and I can tell you without a doubt they are a great organization. There percussion section was extremely kind and complimented our show several times.

  • Lafayette will be the last band performing in the prelims on Friday at 8:15 in the Boa Grand Nationals. GEAUX MIGHTY LIONS

  • @1987Wulf

I just don't agree with the top ten using just the band scores. ALL of the components contribute to the show.

  • I can assure you that the comments on here by a previous commenter claiming to be a FHS student IS NOT representative of how most FHS students and parents feel. As an older FHS alum I know from back when I was a student to now (from the many things I hear), the Fontainebleau band program has nothing but great respect for the Lafayette band program. Lafayette is a program that many associated with Fontainebleau view as a role model.

  • (continued from my previous post)

...So please ignore those commenters and don't makes comments along the lines of "Fontainebleau complains it's rigged" when the commenter(s) are either not even associated with FHS or are only 1 or 2 select students who are truly NOT representative of the rest of the students, staff, parents, and FHS community.

  • @bluetigerdawg87 No worries and I didn't think otherwise. I FHS is one of my top 5 favorites every year. You put your heart into what you do and the product shows on the field.

  • What happened in the past with Comeaux's multiple victories, was something fishy going on or did they really deserve to win those?

  • @lhsdrumline07

Thanks! Malaguena is what made me join 3 years ago. It still is my favorite song to jam to. And believe me, the year Erath places in the top 5 may soon come. Our Color Guard instructor went national witj DCI, and our drill writer/overall helper, Tim, is nationally renown for marching in the Blue Devils. We have, in my opinion, the best staff in the state, and some of the most dedicated students out there.

  • LHS is an amazing band for many reasons. They go out and try to achive highly for louisiana by trying to put together the best marching product in the counrty on they can with writers and staff to teach it. I have never seen such a more dedicated staff of insturctors at that school. And just to let you know people were saying the same thing about Comeaux when they won this competiton about 11 years in a row before LHS started their streak.

  • Thanks, Wulf. It means a lot. Just being in the Erath band, knowing we're the underdog because of our size, is a great feeling. Little Erath competing with bands on the state, and even national level? All pales in comparison to the bond we have with each other. I think because we're so small, we're determined to leave our footprint. LHS, keep doing what you do. Erath, NV, and Delcambre will continue to kick booty along side ya'll!

  • @BlondieT26 Ever since i saw erath's latin show in 07...i was hooked! and on the topic of NV and Delcambre....I helped with the NV drumline a couple times this year and that bassline was SMOKIN this year! and delcambre gets better and better every year.Cant wait til the day Erath is in the top 5!

  • @lhsdrumline07 Erath actually placed 4th one year, I believe it was in 04 or 05 when Mr. Neil was still the band teacher.

  • Just a few things

    1) You can't say that we shouldn't have won if you didn't see our finals performance (cause this one is one of our worst performances)

    2) If you have a negative comment, please don't post it here (this is not a place for arguing)

    3) We make mistakes. That doesn't mean that we're not good. Even the best bands in the nation make mistakes. Judges care more about how you react to your mistakes (whether you can play it off or not)

    4) Why post such nasty comments? I don't get it.

  • good but a bit boring

  • @blondiet26

You represent your program very well. Everything you said is 100% accurate of how a marching band member should act and feel. Way to go!

  • I've had people from all schools tell me they love a few bands in particular: Lafayette, Fountainbleu, Catholic High, Erath, and a couple others; I've had regular audience members state the same. So as long as the crowd is happy, who cares about winning? When my school did our Final's performance, we didn't go for perfection. We went to have a good time. That's what it's all about.

  • Does it really even matter? I'm from Erath, on the trumpet line. I know for a fact that LHS busts their butts off every practice, and show it. How can you not give credit to them? They're huge; it gives them many more chances to fall apart.

  • @BlondieT26 By the way, I have a great admiration for what you guys accomplish on-field with so few members. Erath is one of the bands I always look forward to in Showcase. Keep up the good work.

  • Let's just not comment on this anymore..

  • Oh my. Are we going to rehash this tired argument AGAIN??? If any of you that feel that somebody other than LHS should have won, you sadly are not looking at the shows from a judges viewpoint. While there were many wonderful shows that I enjoyed, none of them had the musical complexity nor the marching speed while playing that could match LHS. For the time being, yes, LHS is dominating Showcase. But, not without merit. Go watch videos of Avon, Tarpon Springs, LD Bell, and Broken Arrow

  • These are the bands that LHS wants to emulate.

BTW, since reading skills are fundemental, they have only won 8 years straight, as my video info. states.

  • @flyinghigh834

You are a horrific representation of your program. I am going to say this out of pure annoyance. How did Fountainebleau do at the BOA they attended a few years back, which was an incredibly weak one..didn't make finals. Showcase is not rigged and you are ignorant my friend. Second, there are no BOA finalist bands in the state of Louisiana currently, therefore that argument is negated. Oh, and might i add that your usage of comma splices is quite annoying.

  • the competition is not rigged. jezzz... give lafayette the credit. their good. may not be as fun to watch as fountainbleau but its really beautiful in person

  • i agree fontainbleau is good but something about them sounds recorded...lafayette on the other hand...i honastly thing its rigged...i saw at least an entire line off step and out of place

  • @choji98 it's because they are so big, they don't have enough judges to catch mistakes like that.

  • Comment removed

  • @tacobot09 and so fontainebleau was perfect the whole time? It seems like everyone of you try to pick out a flaw.Again i restate my point.NO LHS PERSON GOES ON ANY OTHER BAND'S VIDEO AND POSTS NEGATIVE COMMENTS AT ALL.

  • @lhsdrumline07 How do you know that for sure? And I know no one is perfect I am just stating that it's a bit unfair to the other bands because of size, and I think it's unfair for some of the LHS kids considering they don't get to be on the field because of how large the band is and they have to have alternates. I'm not saying that there should be a limit, but that with the smaller bands you can catch the mistakes easier because there are not that many people.

  • @lhsdrumline07 I'm not saying Lafayette is bad, they are actually really really good, I'm just saying they are HUGE! I love the front ensemble, I am an erath high alumni and I met the lafayette front ensemble and they are awesome, great roll models for younger band kids, I was the pit captain and my pit was really impressed with them. I know Lafayette busts their butts to get where they are, but I was just stating that it's size that is kind of intimidating.

  • @26hitgirl does matter if the one section is perfect..the whole band must be perfect. No one on this video is bashing FHS.No one says you guys do not practice just as hard.I promise you that alot of "friendship" has been lost between these two bands due to the negative comments FHS kids post on these videos.(not saying its just fountainebleau kids).LHS kids would love to be friends with you guys..we just ask for the same respect we give you.No LHS post negative commments on any video..i promise

  • Comment removed

  • @lhsdrumline07 I am not apart of the band but thanks for your opinion and LHS and FHS are good friends and i am really sorry. Very sorry.

  • Fontainebleau should have one....this is rigged! their performance is just boring!

  • they win every year but they are BORING.No risks on flag line,no complex movements in marching.BORING music that does nothing to grab you.Thats your crowd clapping at the 5:20 mark and i think you can hear someone eating chips over the applause. The flags are the only thing remotely interesting about this years performance, good use of multi color flags to disguise some bad timing in the third flag change,semi-complex but well disguised. With 60 plus you have to be creative to hide things.BORING

  • Maybe if it wasnt held in Lafayette every year they wouldnt win every year!!!

  • @cajuncutie39------Ummmm. If Im not nistaken, They have about 10 High schools in the lafayette area that competes at showcase. To say that they win every year because its held there is ignorant on your part.Just go to their site and see their accomplishments out of the state of Louisiana. Bands of America Regionals and Nationals finalists. Before you make a comment like that, you should research why they are winning every year--Congrats Mr. Walker on another great year. "LHS TUBA 99-02"

  • @jblaq4u

If I might say something, I am from the Fontainebleau Band, and for the past 11 years Lafayette has one first place. You are going to tell me that it's not rigged? Honestly, they have good music techniques, but they are horrible marchers. And what does it matter if they are BOA finalists? Many other bands are too and they didn't win first, did they? Oh, and might I add you misspelled "mistaken."

  • @flyinghigh834 how about we contact your band director and show him or her what you are posting on here.Name one video that a Lafayette high student has ever gone on and posted negative comments ! In fact LHS people go and post numerous positive comments on other bands videos. We are taught respect in the Lafayette high band. That is obviously somethin you were never taught!

  • @flyinghigh834 how come lhs win showcase over fountainbleu, fountainbleau complains that showcase is rigged? this same argumant was made in 08 when fountainbleau lost to lhs, then lhs went to grand nats and got 12th overall. put this whole "rigged" competion discussion to rest. there are different judges every year in every category and for the past 8 years, lhs had been the best in their eyes, not their wallets

  • Comment removed

  • @cajuncutie39 hmmm if you would do your homework youd find that lafayette high has only one since 2003.....comeaux ,catholic, and acadiana were the big dogs back then.Nice try

  • @cajuncutie39 That's not really the case. That's like saying that because one competition, like Sulfur, is held there that the band wins every year, and that is not true. It's all balling down to the judges, a few years back a lot of the bands did amazing, lafayette included that was an awesome show, I think it was in 08, and the judges didn't give out a single sweepstakes. It was defiantly not a fair ruling.
