  • What they're saying is true. I'm a woman who doesn't really like macho stuff and I didn't care about wrestling at all until I saw the film. Now it's the most interesting sport there is to me.

  • omg, Roddy Piper is the best. He was awesome in "They Live" and he has one of the most famous movie lines ever : "I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass...and I'm all out of bubblegum." -Roddy Piper in "They Live" Go see video v=NimgvwDO2CI

  • Lex Lugee

  • now, i have yet to see this film, but is there anything new this film shows about wrestling that most people don't already know.

  • Just found where to watch m th1s m0v!ie online @ MOOV ZON ,COM search the above link on google

  • Look at Luger off the juice holy shit

  • The Barber guy was onto something at the end. What I came away with as a non fan was an interesting perspective on how life in the spotlight is a drug. The health of some of these guys' egos can become dependent on thousands of people chanting their names, and what you do to yourself to get that feeling can be debilitating in the end. What happens to people whose careers demand they flame out? It's a scary thought, that just 1 million dollar idea doesn't cut it. reminds me of Eastbound and Down

  • lugar has aged. the table is not round

  • Hogan had the charisma, not the ability. He moved well for been 6'9 but then again it was his charisma who put him mainstream. I think Greg Valentine, Ric flair, Bret Hart, those to me were complete wrestlers

  • @arachtinilith don't forget Henning.

  • First off Hogan isn't 6'9.....Ric Flair sucks my asshole.

  • You wish Ric Flair would suck your asshole you fucking old man molester

  • @chrisis138

well i can see you're just some basement dwelling freak who has no idea who ric flair really is .

  • Did I hurt your little feelings? I insulted your gay superhero? GET A LIFE, LOSER

  • oh im so hurt with the childish name calling oh boo hoo

  • You know who Ric Flair is? Just cuz you play with your micropenis with thinkin about him doesn't mean you know him, ya hermaphrodite.

  • oh such large words dont hurt you're self

  • I won't hurt you are self, moron! you're self= you are self= pinhead!

  • ah poor baby are you having issues again.

  • Actually, Hogan had the ability, well before his WWF/WCW/WWE days, when he wrestled for New Japan Pro Wrestling where he did lots of holds and submissions where pro wrestling is more appreciated there.

  • Y-1 is super true. Hogan and Bret Hart once wrestled a match that was mostly skill and Hulk proved he knew a lot of stuff. Why he had to hide it all those years = ??

  • Well seems ironic DDP is here.....his theme song is Kurt's ass hat tune. Kick that fuck ...OUT!!!! Long live the 80's.

  • lex luger has been through some shit poor guy

  • I loved all of these guys as a kid... I have also always been a big fan of Mickey Rourke's. It's inspiring, as an actor myself, to hear them put him over the way they do.

  • Lex Luger is a lot more articulate than I thought he would be. Dallas Page too.

  • true. They're all pretty eloquent; I was really impressed.

  • I heard Hulk Hogan will go against Jericho and if that happens expect Flair, Piper, and Rourke to be involved. I mean what is wrestlemania 25 without Hulk Hogan...plus Hulk needs the money because of his gold digging ex-wife.

  • Wrestlemania without Hogan, is a great Wrestlemania to me anyday, I rather have some1 with some great wrestling skills face off with Jericho.

  • I disagree. While Hogan was not a Kurt Angle, Bob Backlund type wrestler, he was very good in the ring and played the crowd well. He drew the first Wrestlemania along with pIPER, T, and Ordorf, but without Hogan that could have been a disaster. Plus if you watch some of his matches in Japan he could do some nice work in the ring. He is also resppnsible for having the only good match ever that Ultimate Warrior had. When Hogan wrestled the rock it was great as well. respect to hogan

  • actually people praise the Savage / Warrior match more than the hogan warrior match because of the story telling about the main match and the sub stories outside the ring.

  • Ultimate Warrior also had good matches with Randy Savage & Rick Rude.

  • @MachoMadnessTV Ultimate Warrior never had a good match in his life. He was a popular wrestler and sold lots of tickets if that's what you mean. But he is one of the worst wrestlers talent wise ever

  • @TheSeanDBrand I'm gonna disagree a little bit. He had good matches but not very many. His match at Wrestlemania 6 with Hogan was good and his match with Randy Savage at Wrestlemania 7 was very good. I think it spoke more about his opponents being able to get those matches out of him but overall they were still very good

  • The people Hogan was in the ring with (like Piper) made the matches what they were. Without the great heels he faced, Hogan would've been just another big, clumsy guy in there, and the fans wouldn't have cared.

  • Have yo u seen Hogan matches against jobbers before? There is a reason why Hogan drew 90,000 instead of 30,000. Sure without a good heel it is more difficult to draw, but you are under estimating the power of Hogan. You could put any manthat looked bigger than Hogan, (Zues) and draw good drama and money.

  • You really think I'm going to have a debate about the subject with a guy that has the username "Hulkamania4eva"? I predict some biased arguments...

  • I don't expect you to do anything. I know I'm right. You argument can be used for SUperstar graham, jessy ventura, Dusty Rhodes. He drew because of his interviews, his look, his selling and his comeback.

  • His selling? Are you serious? Can't see the forest for the trees.

  • What makes a good comeback? Heat. If the babyface doesn't sell properly, there will be no steam for the comeback. Wrestling 101. When Hogan was in the sell, he was on the ground shaking, and all that.

People who do not know wrestling well, do know see the subtleties.

All I know is he was the number one babyface in the 80's boom period and the number one heel in the 90's, boom period.

  • He's one of the most infamous wrestlers for NOT selling. You're absolutely delusional.

  • Are we talking about the same person. The Hogan I'm talking about sold for Karl Malone and Jay Leno. Or do you just skip to the comeback of matches? Fast Forward to the end?

    Get out of here, numnuts.

  • Infamous for not doing jobs is a more accurate summation.

  • I don't have the username "Hulkamania4eva"...and I know for a fact that Hogan could sell. He would occasionally no-sell high impact moves, but I've seen Hogan grimacing in pain, on his knees pleading for mercy, and even laid out on the canvas twitching like a corpse. Hogan has sold for countless opponents over a long career. Claiming Hogan can't sell is as stupid and ignorant as saying he can't wrestle (one word = Japan)...anyone who has seen a significant number of his matches knows better.

  • I'm a fan that holds a more critical opinion of in ring work. Savage and Hennig, those guys could sell and work. Hogan, in comparison, can't hold their jocks.

  • So, Hogan can't work? Watch his match against Fujinami (one of his many excellent matches in Japan). It's on YouTube, and by any standard, his work is impressive. Hogan can't sell? Watch his match against Brock Lesnar, in which he passes out and bleeds from the mouth from a bearhug. By any standard, THAT'S great selling. Fans like you, who take cheap, uninformed potshots at Hogan because you resent his fame are a dime a dozen, and you need to learn to use your eyes before you use your mouth.

  • Thanks for assuming I've not watched Hogan wrestle in Japan, like it's some mystery only few have witnessed. I've seen him wrestle Fujinami. The only thing impressive is if you're comparing his work in Japan to HIS USUAL work. Compared to other wrestlers and matches though, it's only average. He's still slow and awkward, no matter the style of match he works. So, I'll keep my opinion, and you'll keep yours, You can stop posting to me now.

  • I stand corrected. You're not uninformed - just biased and prejudiced.

  • You done trying to get the last word in yet?

  • I really don't want to see hogan wrestle,he's boring, but an apperance would be cool

  • Luger should go around training schools talking to aspiring wrestling trainees.

  • yumyumshisha

  • I came away from seeing the movie with a better understanding of the human side of these guys, how much they care about and rely on each other, and how much like regular folks they are, outside the ring. The Wrestler deserves every award it wins. It is a great movie.

  • wow my god all my fav old wrestlers from the 80s and 90s look so awefull :**( so old - i miss these guys OMFG look at Lex Luger

  • I salute and respect all the wrestlers as this individual not only perfom as an athele in the ring but they can deliver the speech that moves the audience. They just like an icon to me and words they deliver inspire me to carry on with life.Your sacrifie physically and emotionally to deliver entertainment to us will be remembered and appreciated. Thanks to all wrestlers, you are great man and woman and also the producer /crews who plan and make things going.

  • Good film, cool to see the wrestlers I watched when I was a kid are behind it.

  • Damn, feel sorry for Lex. He should be in the WWE Hall of fame 2009 or soon. I know he had problems with Vince sometimes but he was a big star for a long time and is well known and had his moments..

  • I JUST finished watching all 5 parts of this, and it was a great roundtable discussing a great form of entertainment as well as the awesome film about it.

Mickey Rourke's character reminded me in some ways of the look we got at Jake The Snake's life in "Beyond The Mat" but I'm sure that ALOT of wrestlers identify with his character and the nobility that he shows even in the face of tremendous adversity. They ALL show what TRUE endurance is all about.

  • i just seen this movie today and immediatly thought of Jake Roberts in "Beyond the Mat also. It be interesting to know what he thought of the movie!

  • It sure would be.

Come to think of it, I'd be interested in hearing what pretty much EVERY wrestler who's seen the film thinks of it!

Did you catch Ernest "The Cat" Miller in there?

  • yup sure did, R-Truth was also in the film

  • Yeah me too, I just wasn't POSITIVE that it was Ron cause I didn't check the credits specifically for him but I DID for Miller.

Do you think they're going to do a Wrestlemania match between Mickey Rourke and Chris Jericho?

  • wwe said that mr. rourke will be involved in some form at wrestle mania. that would be great if he kicks jerichos ass lol

  • They MUST be planning on it.

I was convinced when Rourke and Chris were exchanging promos but then after the Larry King thing I wasn't so sure. I think that that is where Vince and them are going these days. They're showing a fondness for "Smart" angles designed to fool longtime fans into thinking that one thing or another is "real", and they're pretty good at it. Personally I see it as a brilliant cross promotion, and did you notice the booker in the film DIDNT say who would win each match? ;)

  • I had the same feeling that as soon as I saw Rourke I thought of Jake the Snake. That Beyond The Mat interview was so sad, his story is sad. Life is too brutal and evil for some people, I always say walk a mile in a persons' shoes before u talk crap about them.

  • VERY WELL SAID.

People are all too ready to condemn others for NOT being just like them and if you stop to think about it, nobody REALLY is!

  • holy shit lex lugar is like the crypt keeper

  • a lot of legends in that room

Lugar did not age too well

  • haven't u heard?

he can barely walk by himself..the guy almost died

  • I totally agree that non-wrestling fans will get out of this movie an enormous amount of respect for professional wrestlers.

  • I was a wrasslin, fan years ago, today it's not the same as it was. It's all a t&a show. The wrestler is a A list movie, Mickey Rourke has always been a fav of mine, and I believe he deserves the Oscar. Roddy Pipper, I love you!!!! , and who cares what those critics say, I loved, loved They Live and I have it at home and watch it all the time. Remember Welcome to Frogtown, or something like that, I watched that alot too. Love to all

  • try watching it again it's went back to kid friendly.

"i'm here to chew bubble gum and kick ass....and i'm all out of bubble gum."

ha ha i love they live.

little fact the retard fight in south park was copied from the street fight in They Live

  • i need to auditon any movies comming out. please send a message.
