i just got my dads silvertone and was trying to find out what year and model it was. thanks to your video now i know! thank you for the vid andgreat picking brotha rock on.
A fellow I know has one of these and thinks its worth 2000 bucks---I told him it wasn't but he won't be convinced---some people! Hey, you really picked that Silvertone good!
I found a 1448 yesterday at a pawn shop for $80. What a steal! Great tone and plays very well. I couldnt believe how loud it is and what great shape the guitar and amp- are in. The case has some wear, but it is all original, except for the tuners
Nice guitar and awesome sound!!! My first electric guitar was a black with silver sparkle Silvertone / Danelectro #1448 single pickup hollow body with the amp-in-case that my dad got me for $50.00 back in 1984 when I turned 12. I ended up trading it straight up for a Hagstrom Super Swede about a year later, but I sure wish I still had it now!! I really like the sound your getting as well. It is very reminiscent of that old 50's and 60's blues.
AlexManteiv: Absolutely sweet sounding for a budget, department store guitar. In fact, it has a sound unique enough to be used in professional recording, or even live gigs. Wasn't D'Armond contracted to make the pickups for these?
I'm not sure who made them but they sound great. Use a good Fender tube amp I always say.
These guitars are nice & light. The guitarist from the Conan late show uses this guitar on TV and many have used for live big time gigs. George Harrsion from the Beatles has recorded with the one pickup model.
AlexMantiev: I believe they were contracted out to Danelectro for manufacture. The one in this video sounds mega-sweet! It has it's own sound, not as a Fender, not as a Gobson, but a nice, sweet, and clean tone all it's own. I don't believe any other low budget guitar sold in a department store had this quality. I recall I played one that my buddy had years ago in school. It sort of looked like a Les Paul, black w/ gold sparkly flakes, w/ 2 pickups, and a 3 position selector switch.
@UnderWearNinjas Idk, possibly not a great idea, because to buy one in perfectly functioning condition will cost you upwards of 250 dollars. when you could buy an acoustic for 150-200. its better to start on acoustic. take it from me, i play in a band.
right. it's easy for an advanced guitar player to play professional music on a new built Fender/Gibson/Ibanez (or what else...) guitar. well, I love my Hofner Galaxie 176. It is played more by than any other guitar in my equipment ;)
Great playing, Why did you sell it? in the last few years these have really jumped up in price, I have the single pickup amp-in-case model plus an original 59 DC 3011 single pickup, I could never replace them for what I paid for them. I've played Danos for years and they have treated me well
Because someone offered me 1400.00 for it. I bought another one for 600.00 in slightly less shape but still sounds & plays as good as my last. I'm hooked on these guitars.
I've been looking at these guitars for a long time now (1457's). I was wondering how they sound with a bit of dirt/overdrive because they sure sound amazing clean.

Is that the model that came with the built-in amp into the guitar case?
Gschnok 2 years ago
Yes, except mine does not work. Will rebuild it some day. These guitars sound great & professional through Fender tube amps.

I sold this one 2 months ago for 1400.00 because of its condition and the fact it was owned by a relative of the creator of this model.
Check Vintage magazine, their getting up there in price. You got more than a deal.
I hope you enjoy it, they have a nice tone.
