I may be making more videos explaining training and how the bunnies actually enjoy it, and the differences between forcing and jumping because they want it! I'll also answer any question on messages if you have any questions!
@shantaine2009 hehe.. Start with just putting sticks or small poles on the ground and make it walk over it.. then increase the height little by little.. Be sure to have fun with it, and never force the bunny :)
How do you train them to do this? Me and my sister tried to do this but our rabbits either ran under the jumps or didn't jump them at all. We tried using food but that didn't work. Any suggestions?
@cathloveshorses Start with a pole on the ground and encourage the rabbit to go over it, when the rabbit goes over you have to tell it good and pet it telling it how great it is being and keep doing this for as long as it takes to catch on then you can raise the bar a bit then keep doing it.
@jordanricketts9 No, it's not.. My bunnies love it, and will jump like this, even when they don't have a leash and I sit in the grass just watching them from a distance.. ;)
@BoolaHoola We never force the bunnies to jump.. I could put down my bunnies FAR away from the obstacles and no leash or anything, and they would run over to the obstacles to jump over them.. They love it!
@BreyerGurl09 Having fun with them, walking with them with a leash, and put down sticks and poles and have fun with them jumping over it and get alot of affection each time.. The babies will jump over small sticks, just to get a little kiss! ^^
AWWZ i have 5 bunnies 1 lion head,2normal hares i think,1 dutch bunny, and a black lop eared bunny it would be so cool training emma(the lop eared) to do this but i hv a question:does it hurt or make the bunnies unhappy to jump those high obstacles cause some of these bunnies here look like they dont like it :\
@797Camilla, if the bunny did not want to do it, he wouldn't jump it, he'd move over to the side. But obviously, as you can see, the bunny is enjoying it, he's going over the obstacles without any problems.
@797Camilla How come the bunny will do it without a leash and without being forced then? And how come my bunnies takes jumps of joy between the obstacles sometimes? ;)
@EveDarkAngel666 they jump if you piss them off enough, i accidentally upset my guineapig when i shouted at a cat or something in the garden whilst playing with him and he sprang about two feet in the air to grab my hand and rip it open! Before that day he was a sweetheart that I had bred myself aha, still got the big scar on my hand xD
I'd love to do that with my bunnies, but my female Rex is a bit older already and too clever. She always thinks: Why work for some treats? Carrots are fine as well xD Her son (some crossbred, father ist something unknown hairy :P ) might go for it. well, we keep trying ^^
@monkeydunkydoo this is no different to horse jumping, if the bunnies didn't want to jump, they wouldn't jump. the fact is they enjoy it. check your facts.
@monkeydunkydoo how is this cruelty? bunnies jump, and the people are just leading them through a course. it's just like agility for dogs or hunting/jumping for horses.
No idea how on earth I would teach a rabbit to do this! But it's very cute! I'm a horse trainer and horses come so natural to me, but i can't imagine how on earth this would work!
@TheRemkee Ik weet echt niet waar jij dierenmishandeling ziet, die konijnen springen er gewoon over heen, pas als de baasjes het dwingen, dan is het niet meer leuk!
woww!! my bunny would be really good at this, but she hardly lets me pick her up let alone put a lead on her! (she's friendly and curious, comes up to you, just hasn't been handled a lot so kicks and scratches when you try and pick her up)
i had a bunny but she died last week :( my sisers bunny's were her parants we still have the dad and a new bunny my bunny and her mom got killed bye a wheesel, but luckely my now dead bunny, (im still sad :( cry's) sister is my cusins bunny so the bunny i got my sister for christmass and my cusins bunny can have babies and i get first pic i also get it free like every other pe iv'e had lol. my buny and i were working on junmps i was ging to enter her into a jumping show. :( (CRY'S even ouder)
Erm can you trian dwarf bunnies too?o.Ot o jump like that.My bunnie is still learning how to be heald, and can you make a video on how to make a bunnie wear a harnest.o.O It'd be ever so fun to walk it.xD
I'll try not 2 be meen but havin leads n harneses 4 rabits n especialy buns, they can damage ther neks r wors n ur just forcin em 2 jump outa ther free will coz they mite not wana do that ,u know? they r scared coz u chase after em n u got em unda control with the harnes, so wen u chase em r push their bum r sumet is just forcin em n they av no choice but 2 run! u shud rely think ov this be4 u do anythin.
but aside frm that, u did a gud job teechin/trainin em coz alot ov efort must ov bin put in that so ill praise u just for that but plz think be4 u do.thnx.
@Cubanruby6879 Harnesses aren't harmful to the rabbits because they aren't actually putting any pressure on the rabbits neck, but around the ribs and shoulders where there is more control and support. My smallest dog is about the size of a rabbit, and even cats could be considered in that size category and it's very common to have them in harnesses. You can also clearly see that when the rabbit doesn't want to jump, it doesn't, and it isn't forced. Also lrn2grammar.
