This is the difference between a skilled team and a tough guy team. The skilled team can and will always run circles around goons and thugs. I don't care that people say the Wings are soft, because if they can do things like this, who needs goons?
@swalte6325 Yeah, I think that Ryan, Getzlaf, Perry, Niedermayer and Pronger were just goons and couldn't play at all... have you ever heard of a thing called checking line? Even the Red Wings had one.
@Kaksisekuntiaaikaa Thanks for agreeing that's too kind. Yeah the Wings have one but they aren't head hunters like that fine group of individuals you listed. Our grind line is consisted of hard workers and skaters that get to the dirty spots. I have yet to see Helm or Draper knock someone out with an elbow or keep trying to start shit with other players. If you have video of them doing that, then please, pass that along.
@swalte6325 Stay focused. Your first comment implied that Ducks are (were) not a skilled team judging by their fourth line Brown-Marchant-Parros. I responded by saying that it is quite natural to have checking line(s). Then you went offtopic and started jabbering something about them (Ryan, Getz, Niedermayer...) being dirty players which has nothing to with their unquestionably high skill level. It seems to me that you're out here in Youtube trolling and trying to start fights. You're a goon.
@Kaksisekuntiaaikaa Actually if you read my comment closely you would see that I am in fact talking about the Red Wings checking line (see the part where I mention Helm and Draper). And my original comment was talking about the Ducks' goons and why the Wings don't have many if any at all. In my second comment as I talked about the checking lines for both, I again bring up goons. You said every team has one and I said that there are differences between teams grind lines. Like goon to hardwork
Watch at 2:06, you can see Dan Cleary hinting to Datsyuk to flip the puck over the net. This is why the Red Wings are one of the best teams in the world when it comes to hockey. They have anything and everything planned.
Anyone else catch Zetterberg giving the puck away and Pavel re-steals it and then dangles 2 ducks before making a drive to the net? Holy shit, Datsyuk went super saiyan on this shift
Ovechkin definitly the greatest player in the world no dout..i know he had 85 points this season..hes so good they consider a 85 point season bad..thats how fuckin good he is...just to be around some1 as great as him has to be a good feeling..im just saying if you dont agree i have nothing to say to you....The only other player that even compares to Ovechkin is DatsyuK PERIOD!!!
@your0inspiration Are you a fukin retard? its mickey redmond an ken daniels they are sweet, an if you dont know anything about hockey which im already thinkin, google mickey he was a beast in the nhl he tells it like it is thumbs up if you like mickey an not that hater :}
Too bad the Wings didn't maintain this intensity against the crysby and the penguins. It was their cup to lose... just a shame that they did. I'm still pissed about it.
@jfk6797 you mean in that pitched series? yeah i can understand them losing when the NHL moves the series up 8 days (against hte rules, can only be moved if both teams played only 4 games), Redwings were injured and needed rest after traveling back and forth between anaheim.
Malkin didnt get suspended for game 3 after the misconduct in game 2.
Game 7 was a joke, First goal was Icing that didnt get called.
also lets not discuss that 30 second 7 men on the ice for pittsburg.
exactly what i have been trying to say. He isn't scoring right now but whenever the puck is on his stick he does great things with it and he proves to be the best in the NHL even without scoring.
wow.....I don't understand how anyone can't enjoy watching the Red Wings play. The play the most beautiful hockey in the league. Their puck control is a sight to behold.
Yes. You can thank Igor Larionov for that. He asked Bowman to let the Russians play together during one of their intrasquad scrimmages. The Russians had the puck the ENTIRE time. When it was over, Larionov asked Bowman what he thought. Bowman said, "You didn't score." Larionov replied, "I told them not to." Hence, the legend of the Russian Five and that has been the Red Wings style of way since then.
Currently, Coach Babcock has employed a hybrid system of that puck possession game.
powerplay is over by the way

And this is why people joke and call them the Detroit Globetrotters.

I'm watching this high. I'm a hawks fan, but I would trade all of Chicago's sports teams for a team like the Detroit Red Wings

Why didn't they have the little power play thing on the score board? lol
