Not as powerful as the turbo F1s, maybe closer to the aspirated cars.

But according to Senna and Mansell the Group B cars were much more raw and more difficult. Not to mention more dangerous.

Citroen C4 now is best rally car, erlier Xara was realy grea too, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo where great, Peugeot 206 was world winner few times. If you start rally driving and don't have cash good car is Citroen Saxo VTS small car 1,6l 16 valve engine, or Xara VTS with 2,0l 16 valve you can buy one for 1500 euro and put another 1000-2000 euros in it and you have rally car for start.

Unfortunately the reason we don't have these amazing beasts in WRC now is because one of these cars did crash into a group of spectators and some got killed. So now we have to put up with showroom based cars with half the horsepower, and alot less interesting to watch.

Can't remember exactly where or when, but it was mid to late 1980's, and the WRC organisers had a kneejerk reaction and banned the Group-B cars. I'll look it up and get back.

Just found it. The accidents were in 1986, the first major one was when Joaquim Santos came over a crest in his Ford RS200 to find the road blocked by spectators. He hit them injuring 31 and killing 3. Then Henri Toivonen crashed his Lancia Delta S4 in Corsica in May of the same year. By this time Audi had already pulled out of Group B, and FISA decided that it was the power of the cars that was causing the danger, so banned the class as a whole. Check out Wikipedia "Group_B".

In the Corsican accident the spectators were actually standing on the stage. The argument against was that the cars were too quick for people to get out of the way. The fact that they could be heard over a mile away had nothing to do with it!

NOBODY compares to these guys, except for maybe bull riding, nothing requires more stones than these guys, at least as sports go. To go by trees at over 100mph and only relying on your memory and vison and your co pilot and if you wrekc, you might die. My favorite sport, and my heros, love rally and would love to do some rallying. These cars ahve REAL power, screw those twin turbo Supras and Skylines you see EVERYWHERE, this is raw power, Group B is the BEST, WRC is still the greatest!
