@Jasonconfused That's because their isn't one. The funny thing about Dio, is that he generally stays in the range where most other men have trouble singing. LOL
@tbnterprises Idk it's more than the range. There are some wonderful voices like Klaus Meine's and Robert Plant's but Dio just has something magical about his voice.
An unusual video - recorded instrumental track and live vocal track - haven't seen that before! I wonder if a "new" live version of the vocal track was also pre-recorded... if not, the sound of the drums being played would have fed into Dio's microphone during the making of the video.
Still, Dio was such a good vocalist that he could have recorded the vocals 10 times and all the takes would have been great. He oozed pure technique and his vocal range is completely unforced, much like Bon Scott.
Today's special offer is a used Paris Hilton AND a clean, unused Justin Bieber and Hannah Montana, for the whopping price of only ONE Dio! That's right God, trade our 3 *cough* most valued artists for only one DIO
-But wait!-
If you bring back Dio within the next 30 minutes, you also get a FREE complete and PURE set of the Jonas Brothers with it!
I love Rainbow. Great anthem of Biblical proportions. Ritchie is a demi-god. RJ Dio is truly amazing & as for Cozy on drums, devilishly brilliant. R.I.P. Ronnie & Cozy. Long live Rock n Roll & Ritchie Blackmore. I miss Rainbow x
The more rock music you listen to as the years hurtle by you eventually come to the conclusion that if you were around listening and seeing this stuff performed live back in the day you really were enjoying the best. The kids today have been short changed.
@davidvollmar The Minstrel stuff is good - was the root of the best early Rainbow stuff - too bad Ritchie realized the 'Sword and Sorcery' theme had a faithful following afterwards - Long Live the King Ronnie J. Padavano Dio!!! Cheers to you Bob! P.S. - too bad Ritchie's arrogance didn't let him rehearse his own solo before this filming - hehe
Fantastic!!! I've been a big fan of Blackmore all my life, and I must say the solo in this song is one of his best. I would rank it in the top five. The structure of the scales and changes in intonation here are just phenominal. Truely masterful! And the band: Dio and Cozy, great as always......Daisley and Stone, wonderful musicians. I believe Stone actually wrote the arrangement for Blackmore to burn this solo through. Great Stuff. Thanks for uploading.
I can handle the re-birth of Ronnie James Dio but Kurt Cobain, hell-to-the-frickin'-NO!!! It's all Cobain's fault today's music sucks. Nothing but a bunch of whiners bitching about how hard their lives are. Nobody ever told me life was kind I guess I never heard it Never heard it all Here it comes again Straight through the heart Artist: Ronnie James Dio Album: Holy Diver
@LanDio1981 Ok I agree that Cobain is overrated but there were amazing bands in the 90's like Soundgarden (that Dio himself liked) or Alice in chains. Pearl jam was amazing as well.
@Justicefull666 i'd be stricken if the names of Dio and Kobain are not around in the world in the second generation from now. Whereas the soulds of Justin and Rebecca must indeed be forgotten. Blessed be the immortal souls of Our music Gods. Blessed be all that hear the voices of True! I solute you!

it's surprising how anyone mentions only Dio and no one give credits to virtuous solos of Blackmore. Maybe we must wait until his days are over to recognize his unique talent.
@pashuku Blackmore is one of the greatest guitarists of all time. I think the reason his legacy tends to be overshadowed by his lead singer's is that Ritchie seemed to drop off the face of the planet mid-way through the eighties. Ronnie, on the other hand, kept putting out relevant and timely top-tier metal decade after decade. Still, that should not take away from Ritchie's brilliant and innovative contribution to Seventies rock.
You know who really deserves more recognition? Cozy Powell.
@ryandevison I would guess the band is playback, while Dio sings live. Check the Long Live Rock N Roll version from the same session as this, the lyrics ain't the same as on the record.
