no the reason y you cant move is cause cars are not boats. your tail pipe is under water, and is stalling out the motor. its kinda like stuffing a banana in there. the water is to heavy for the exhaust to get pushed out, hence the car stalling.
MY parents would KILL me if i did somethin like that to a vehicle that was theirs!!! I guess thats the pleasure of workin for everything you got,ya tear it up then ya dnt get in trouble. But on the downside that means ya gotta fix it yourself!
btw you wouldnt die gosh lol and you could pull it out in neutral you dont need to start it. i understand you guys didnt no this stuff but some is common sence
@SgtMcCools1 i dont give a fuck wat you do but u shouldnt be rude to girls that have no idea about how a car works they dont know wat to do someone should have taught them this stuff but they didnt so they dont know
@SgtMcCools1 your such a douche bag you think these teenage girls would no anything about cars and its not the spark plugs you dumbass its most likely the air filter got wet your not cool at all you should get a new account name you asshole
ok, here's some helpful advice, next time do yourself a favor and go slow through the water. you'll be fine. you could have had an explorer come and tow you out no problem, dry off your spark plugs and start right back up.
@SgtMcCools1 wow way to be a dick. you really think they know anything about an engine? Ohh and by the way, they most likely splashed water into their intake. DIPSHIT.
Actually, your the dumb one here. You said ANY motor, which includes both gas and diesel. So, smart one, your the one who should learn to type before you think. Idiot.
those explorers have a stupid airbox design. it sucks air in from like right above the engine, my ranger has the same setup. i *hydrolocked* the engine by running it into the mud too quick on mine, dried all the water in the airbox, took the intake pipe off, started it and drove home after the water was out of the intake. still going strong after 260,000km. those ford 4 liters are tough
if that was a old 6.2 diesel truck youd have no problem the water has to be up to the airfilter until it gets into the engine the air intake is higher than the headlights so you really gotta be goint o get water that high and if you do it goes out the water drain in the water seperator
They same way every girl gets out, find a man to call. ;) If the pavement isn't washed out under them, it would be an easy tow to a dry spot. Heck, if someone popped the hood, checked the air filter for water, then the engine oil, it might even be OK to start, but they won't know that until its checked. Typically an air filter will save an engine from water once by stalling the engine, but you can't safely restart until after its checked.
Hit a dip in the road would be my guess. I got caught in a flood that was about knee-deep, but a decent splash from the front bumper when you hit a dip can easily kick plenty of water in the engine
why bent valves

ya but the term for that is hydrolocked not flooded. an engine gets flooded when you pump the gas peddle on a carburated engine.

Flooded the engine? You have no idea wtf you are talking about. You can't compress liquids. If you sucked water into your engine you screwed.

have you tried starting it?
